    The Influence Of Ecological Culture On Ornithological Security At The Airport "Tomsk"

    The relation of directional distribution of bird population in winter on the airfield of the airport "Tomsk" with the presence of bird feeders on the territory of the adjoining residential complex were found out. It is shown that the concentration of feeding places of birds emerging near the feeders in the residential complex are kept mostly here as well as contribute birds redistribution from the territory of the airfield on its periphery thus contributing to reduce ornithological stress near the air strip. This distribution is characteristic not for all species but only for those who can use man-made elements of the environment to live in winter. Reporting to minimum of variety of birds at the airport these kinds are the majority. The formation of stable feeding clusters in the residential compound become by means of the high environmental culture of its inhabitants who help birds, providing them food in the unfavorable period of the year

    Potential of Core-Collapse Supernova Neutrino Detection at JUNO

    JUNO is an underground neutrino observatory under construction in Jiangmen, China. It uses 20kton liquid scintillator as target, which enables it to detect supernova burst neutrinos of a large statistics for the next galactic core-collapse supernova (CCSN) and also pre-supernova neutrinos from the nearby CCSN progenitors. All flavors of supernova burst neutrinos can be detected by JUNO via several interaction channels, including inverse beta decay, elastic scattering on electron and proton, interactions on C12 nuclei, etc. This retains the possibility for JUNO to reconstruct the energy spectra of supernova burst neutrinos of all flavors. The real time monitoring systems based on FPGA and DAQ are under development in JUNO, which allow prompt alert and trigger-less data acquisition of CCSN events. The alert performances of both monitoring systems have been thoroughly studied using simulations. Moreover, once a CCSN is tagged, the system can give fast characterizations, such as directionality and light curve

    Detection of the Diffuse Supernova Neutrino Background with JUNO

    As an underground multi-purpose neutrino detector with 20 kton liquid scintillator, Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is competitive with and complementary to the water-Cherenkov detectors on the search for the diffuse supernova neutrino background (DSNB). Typical supernova models predict 2-4 events per year within the optimal observation window in the JUNO detector. The dominant background is from the neutral-current (NC) interaction of atmospheric neutrinos with 12C nuclei, which surpasses the DSNB by more than one order of magnitude. We evaluated the systematic uncertainty of NC background from the spread of a variety of data-driven models and further developed a method to determine NC background within 15\% with {\it{in}} {\it{situ}} measurements after ten years of running. Besides, the NC-like backgrounds can be effectively suppressed by the intrinsic pulse-shape discrimination (PSD) capabilities of liquid scintillators. In this talk, I will present in detail the improvements on NC background uncertainty evaluation, PSD discriminator development, and finally, the potential of DSNB sensitivity in JUNO

    Omecamtiv mecarbil in chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, GALACTIC‐HF: baseline characteristics and comparison with contemporary clinical trials

    Aims: The safety and efficacy of the novel selective cardiac myosin activator, omecamtiv mecarbil, in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is tested in the Global Approach to Lowering Adverse Cardiac outcomes Through Improving Contractility in Heart Failure (GALACTIC‐HF) trial. Here we describe the baseline characteristics of participants in GALACTIC‐HF and how these compare with other contemporary trials. Methods and Results: Adults with established HFrEF, New York Heart Association functional class (NYHA) ≄ II, EF ≀35%, elevated natriuretic peptides and either current hospitalization for HF or history of hospitalization/ emergency department visit for HF within a year were randomized to either placebo or omecamtiv mecarbil (pharmacokinetic‐guided dosing: 25, 37.5 or 50 mg bid). 8256 patients [male (79%), non‐white (22%), mean age 65 years] were enrolled with a mean EF 27%, ischemic etiology in 54%, NYHA II 53% and III/IV 47%, and median NT‐proBNP 1971 pg/mL. HF therapies at baseline were among the most effectively employed in contemporary HF trials. GALACTIC‐HF randomized patients representative of recent HF registries and trials with substantial numbers of patients also having characteristics understudied in previous trials including more from North America (n = 1386), enrolled as inpatients (n = 2084), systolic blood pressure < 100 mmHg (n = 1127), estimated glomerular filtration rate < 30 mL/min/1.73 m2 (n = 528), and treated with sacubitril‐valsartan at baseline (n = 1594). Conclusions: GALACTIC‐HF enrolled a well‐treated, high‐risk population from both inpatient and outpatient settings, which will provide a definitive evaluation of the efficacy and safety of this novel therapy, as well as informing its potential future implementation

    Institution of higher education transformation and society’s response to distance learning during the Covid 19 pandemic

    The article analyzes the transformation of the institution of higher education and traditional education during the epidemiological crisis, due to which distance learning was introduced in universities on a federal scale. The authors focus not only on the effect of the introduction of online technologies into the higher education system, but emphasize the uniqueness of the situation in the context of the need to use these tools in order to minimize social communications when it comes to the viral threat. The authors’ use of cybermetric analysis, big data mining, and media monitoring using the Medialogia analysis system allowed to analyze the information agenda in the federal media space, to determine how the traditional education changed in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic. The specificity of perception of distance learning by Russian society is noted. It was revealed through analysis of the media space concerning the activities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation from February to June 2020. The article emphasizes that the discussion on digitalization of the educational process will continue. The authors draw attention to the fact that joint efforts of the state and civil society can contribute to the development of an adequate model of higher education, based on the convergence of traditional and digital educational forms, taking into account the interests of all the participants in the higher educational process

    Effect of Didactic Training on Barriers and Biases to Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder: Meeting the Ongoing Needs of Patients with Opioid Use Disorder in the Emergency Department during the COVID-19 Pandemic

    In the wake of COVID-19, morbidity and mortality due to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) is beginning to emerge as a second wave of deaths of despair. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder MAT delivered by Emergency Medicine (EM) providers can decrease mortality due to OUD; however, there are numerous cited barriers to MAT delivery. We examined the impact of MAT training on these barriers among EM residents in an urban, tertiary care facility with a large EM residency. Training included the scripted and standardized content from the Provider Clinical Support System curriculum. Residents completed pre- and post-training surveys on knowledge, barriers, and biases surrounding OUD. We performed Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test to detect statistical differences. Of 74 residents, 49 (66%) completed the pre-training survey, and 34 (69%) of these completed the follow-up survey. Residents reported improved preparedness to treat aspects of OUD across all areas queried, reported decreased perception of barriers to providing MAT, and increased comfort prescribing naloxone, counseling patients, prescribing buprenorphine, and treating opioid withdrawal. A didactic training on MAT was associated with residents reporting improved comfort providing buprenorphine and naloxone. As the wake of morbidity and mortality from both COVID and OUD continue to increase, programs should offer dedicated training on MAT

    Circadian melatonin secretion in obese adolescents with or without obstructive sleep apnea

    Objective — To compare melatonin levels in saliva during a 24-hr day in order to identify the specificities of circadian melatonin secretion in obese adolescents with or without obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Material and Methods — We examined 18 obese adolescents with OSA, 12 obese adolescents without OSA, and 15 healthy adolescents with a normal body weight, from whom saliva was sampled four time during the 24-hr day. Polysomnography was used to diagnose OSA. Saliva samples (n=180) were subjected to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results — Obese adolescents with OSA had higher evening melatonin levels than obese adolescents without OSA. For example, this indicator in OSA patients was 5.3 times higher than in participants without OSA, who had the lowest evening melatonin level among all groups. In both obese groups, nighttime melatonin levels were significantly lower than in the control group. A positive correlation was detected between the levels of morning and afternoon melatonin and body mass index only in obese adolescents without OSA (r=0.58; p=0.03 and r=0.68; p=0.01, respectively). It was found that evening melatonin correlated with minimum blood oxygen saturation (SaO2) in the entire sample of adolescents with OSA (r=-0.69; p=0.008), and it also correlated with time with SaO2 <90% in the group with clinical manifestations of OSA (r=0.76; p=0.003). Nighttime melatonin levels negatively correlated with the minimum SaO2 value solely in the group with clinical manifestations of OSA (r=-0.58; p=0.035). Conclusion — The circadian melatonin secretion in obese adolescents differed, depending on the presence or absence of OSA, and correlated with the level of oxygen desaturation in OSA patients, to a greater extent – in the presence of clinical manifestations

    Fecal Microbiota Analysis in Cats with Intestinal Dysbiosis of Varying Severity

    Recent studies have shown that the gut microbiota plays an important role in the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases in various animal species. There are only limited data on the microbiome in cats with varying grades of dysbiosis. The purpose of the study was a detailed analysis of the quantitative and qualitative fecal microbiota spectrum in cats with intestinal dysbiosis of varying severity. The data obtained indicate that, depending on the dysbiosis severity in cats, the intestinal microbiome landscape changes significantly. It has been established that, depending on the dysbiosis severity, there is a shift in the balance between the Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial pools and in the nature of the isolation of specific bacteria forms, in the amount of obligate microbiota isolation, as well as individual facultative strains. When analyzing the serotyping of E. coli cultures isolated at various grades of intestinal dysbiosis severity, differences were found both in the isolation amount of various serotypes from one animal and in the prevalence of certain serotypes for each disease severity. A retrospective analysis of the fecal microbiota sensitivity in cats with dysbiosis to antibacterial drugs showed that, depending on the disease severity, the number of isolates sensitive to antibiotics increases significantly

    Physiological and Genomic Characterization of Actinotalea subterranea sp. nov. from Oil-Degrading Methanogenic Enrichment and Reclassification of the Family Actinotaleaceae

    The goal of the present work was to determine the diversity of prokaryotes involved in anaerobic oil degradation in oil fields. The composition of the anaerobic oil-degrading methanogenic enrichment obtained from an oil reservoir was determined by 16S rRNA-based survey, and the facultatively anaerobic chemoorganotrophic bacterial strain HO-Ch2T was isolated and studied using polyphasic taxonomy approach and genome sequencing. The strain HO-Ch2T grew optimally at 28 °C, pH 8.0, and 1–2% (w/v) NaCl. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of the strain HO-Ch2T had 98.8% similarity with the sequence of Actinotalea ferrariae CF5-4T. The genomic DNA G + C content of strain HO-Ch2T was 73.4%. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between the genome of strain HO-Ch2T and Actinotalea genomes were 79.8–82.0% and 20.5–22.2%, respectively, i.e., below the thresholds for species delineation. Based on the phylogenomic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic characterization, we propose strain HO-Ch2T (= VKM Ac-2850T = KCTC 49656T) as the type strain of a new species within the genus Actinotalea, with the name Actinotalea subterranea sp. nov. Based on the phylogenomic analysis of 187 genomes of Actinobacteria we propose the taxonomic revision of the genera Actinotalea and Pseudactinotalea and of the family Actinotaleaceae. We also propose the reclassification of Cellulomonas carbonis as Actinotalea carbonis comb. nov., Cellulomonas bogoriensis as Actinotalea bogoriensis comb. nov., Actinotalea caeni as Pseudactinotalea caeni comb. nov., and the transfer of the genus Pseudactinotalea to the family Ruaniaceae of the order Ruaniales
