Depicting Childhood. The Innocence of the Age as captured in Photographs and Postcards from Bukovina (1880-1920)
The children’s image in photographs and postcards is a formidable epistemological challenge that can facilitate the synchronization of individual or collective life stories, with certain aspects of social history. While in the Western historiography, the “history of children” has already a long tradition, in the Romanian historiography it never really received much interest; however, only in the last decade there appeared a few articles, studies and books on this domain. In Bukovina’s case, such a research “slips through fingers”, and the study of depicting childhood is still in its early stages. The set of images analyzed in the following article indicates a series of epoch features, constant and canonical, clichés borrowed from Central and Western Europe. They help to describe types of portraits (family, individual, specific solemn moments), poses and conventional models, more or less expressive, but which meet both public and private commands and expectations of the time. In other words, the documentary value of these visual resources in which the children appear is obvious. It favors the exploration of daily life and social customs that are still exposed to many questions

Under Threat of Disease. Introduction to a Historical Study of the Great Epidemics in Austrian Bukovina
Like natural disasters, wars and famine, epidemics recorded in Austrian Bukovina, affected people from all layers of society, leaving deep traces in memory and mentality. Considered as divine punishment or attributed to poverty, ignorance and lack of hygiene, they modeled different behaviors, reactions and attitudes, causing panic, tension, isolation, economic decline and, in some cases, depopulation. Information drawn from a variety of sources (from parish and civil registers to newspapers or memories) provides an overview of morbid events recorded in Bucovina, from the late XVIIIth century to the early XXth century. Consecutive or recurrent episodes of plague, cholera, diphtheria, typhoid fever and typhus, measles, scarlet, smallpox and influenza have disrupted both rural and urban communities, imposing the imperial authorities, local officials, doctors, priests, teachers, and journalists to initiate some mechanisms for prevention, limitation or eradication of the disease
Chronobiology of Epilepsy
A fine balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition governs the physiological state of the brain. It has been hypothesized that when this balance is lost as a result of excessive excitation or reduced inhibition, pathological states such as epilepsy emerge. Decades of investigation have shown this to be true in vitro. However, in vivo evidence of the emerging imbalance during the "latent period" between the initiation of injury and the expression of the first spontaneous behavioral seizure has not been demonstrated. Here, we provide the first demonstration of this emerging imbalance between excitation and inhibition in vivo by employing long term, high temporal resolution, and continuous local field recordings from microelectrode arrays implanted in an animal model of limbic epilepsy. We were able to track both the inhibitory and excitatory postsynaptic field activity during the entire latent period, from the time of injury to the occurrence of the first spontaneous epileptic seizure. During this latent period we observe a sustained increase in the firing rate of the excitatory postsynaptic field activity, paired with a subsequent decrease in the firing rate of the inhibitory postsynaptic field activity within the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Firing rates of both excitatory and inhibitory CA1 field activities followed a circadian- like rhythm, which is locked near in-phase in controls and near anti-phase during the latent period. We think that these observed changes are implicated in the occurrence of spontaneous seizure onset following injury
do conhecimento discutindo fundamentos teóricos; realizando oficinas e oportunizar

acadêmicos estagiários do projeto e supervisionados pelas professoras. No primeiro
semestre de 2017 foram ofertadas seis vagas para estágio. Os estagiários do projeto
receberam treinamento técnico para acompanhar os alunos no desenvolvimento das
atividades. Os estagiários, acadêmicos e a coordenação de estágios dos cursos
profissionalizantes avaliaram positivamente o projeto. Os alunos reconheceram a
importância da oportunidade de estagiar na universidade ressaltando que todas as
atividades estavam de acordo com a sua formação escolar e foram importantes para
a complementação da formação profissiona
Reflecting on Twisted Thinking. New Insights into the Ideology of Right-Wing Totalitarianism
Generally, totalitarianism is presented as the opposite of democracy, although the two systems proclaim the same goal: „the good of the people/demos”. By this viewpoint, totalitarianism (left wing and right wing) derives from democracy as nothing more than a mutation. Concerning the nature of fascism, it is based on the exploitation of history, traditions, customs, but not in the interests of the demos, but of the new totalitarian elite. Thus, following the logical-explanatory line of viral metamorphism, it can be observed that the fundamental role in the ideological development of the extreme right played the „infection” of pluralistic political thinking with an irrational mentality, consisting of existentialism, intuitionism, vitalism, nihilism, symbolism, restoration of thought magical, archetypal, mystic, mystical, taboo-based
PHYSICOCHEMICAL QUALITY CONTROL OF BEE HONEYS FROM CAMPOS GERAIS REGION OF PARANÁ – BRAZIL
Bee (Apis mellifera L.) honeys have been widely used for therapeutic and nutritional proposes. For evaluating the honey production, physicochemical approaches have been extensively performed to ensure that this hive product is authentic in respect to the legal requirements. The aim of this paper was to discuss the quality control of 93 samples of honey from Campos Gerais region of Paraná State – South Brazil by physicochemical parameters. Moisture, reducing sugars, sucrose, water-insoluble solids, ash, free acidity, pH, activity of diastase, hydroxymethylfurfural content and colour were performed by the standard usual methods. Samples were also classified in floral honeys or honeydew honeys according to the Kirkwood equation. A total of 71 samples (76.34%) showed values in accordance with the Brazilian legal requirements for all the achieved physicochemical parameters. Otherwise, all the studied honeys were likewise within the legislation limits only for water-insoluble solids and colour. For pH, an additional parameter that has not been provided in honey legislation, samples showed values ranging from 3.60 to 5.35. By the Kirkwood equation, 61 honeys were considered as floral products
