The architectural remnants of the old coffee plantation estates configure remarkable examples of São Paulo State (Vale do Paraíba) rural architecture. The study of their components, as well as the way in which they were established and organized, was carried out by means of readings of coffee plantation literature of the time, and by the analysis of owners' deeds. On the last part of this essay, the focus is extended to the analysis of the remaining architecture of such edifications.

Astronomy represents an area of scientific knowledge that constantly works with numericaldata, derived from observations (spectroscopy, photometry, polarimetry) or from physical-mathematical models. Therefore, analyzing and interpreting data of a scientific nature ob-tained from graphs and/or tables represents a very common task for the astronomer. Often, there is a need to know, for example, the coordinate of an object for a certain date (year, month, day, hour, minute and second) of observation. In other cases, during the acquisi-tion phase, extraneous processes can happen and cause the partial or total commitment ofthe desired astronomical information, which can harm a later analysis (local or global) ofthe phenomenon studied. As the Interpolation method represents a topic of study that ispart of the training process for future Masters of the Postgraduate Program in Astronomy,Professional Master’s in Astronomy (MPASTRO) of the Physics Department of UEFS, weconsider it appropriate to present a small contribution on the Interpolation method in thecontext of Astronomy. An analysis is also carried out on the skills provided for in the BNCC(National Curricular Common Base).A Astronomia representa uma área do conhecimento científico que trabalha constantemente com dados numéricos, oriundos de observações (espectroscopia, fotometria, polarimetria) ou de modelos físico-matemáticos.

The restructuring of the housing market and the emergence of a new housing typology in Sao Paulo from the mid-1940s, the kitchenette apartment, coincided with changes in the parameters that guided disciplinary discourse and architectural practice in Brazil. Analyze the moment the new typology was formulated, their initial motivations and subsequent developments, allows not only to recover the trajectory of the German architect Adolf Franz Heep (1902-1978) as investigate the dialogue between European architectural avant-garde, the North-American experiences, the local architectural production and the local demands

One of the pioneering historical testimonies of the development of coffee plantations in the 19th century, Sobrado Aguiar Vallim is described, taking as reference the urban context of the formation of the village of Bananal in the Paraíba Valley of São Paulo State. Next the text presents references of formation of the city of Bananal. focusing on the particular characteristics of the configuration and the layout of this small urban center to locate the Sobrado Aguiar Vallim. The work is described in its relation to the main urban areas and its architectural aspects, notably in relation to the particular value of its spatial organization. The conservation conditions are examined, as well as the intervention suffered overtime. Such interventions were aggravating factors for the building’s stability conditions. Based on this considerations, the project for restoration, consolidation and adaption to new use of Sobrado Aguiar Vallim is presented.Peer Reviewe

More than 18 million people in 188 countries have been diagnosed as having coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and COVID-19 has been responsible for more than 600,000 deaths worldwide. Brazil is now the second most affected country globally. Faced with this scenario, various public health measures and changes in the daily routines of hospitals were implemented to stop the pandemic. Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are at an increased risk for severe COVID-19 as they present with two major diseases: cancer and concomitant chronic liver disease. The COVID-19 pandemic can significantly impact the management of HCC patients from diagnosis to treatment strategies. These patients need special attention and assistance at this time, especially since treatment for tumors cannot be delayed in most cases. The aim of this guideline was to standardize the management of HCC patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. This document was developed, on the basis of the best evidence available, by a multidisciplinary team from Instituto do Caˆncer do Estado de Sa˜o Paulo (ICESP), and Instituto Central of the Hospital das Clı´nicas da Universidade de Sa˜o Paulo (HC-FMUSP), which are members of the Sa˜o Paulo Clı´nicas Liver Cancer Group

Background. The impact of end-stage liver disease (ESLD) in cardiac remodeling of patients with cirrhosis is unknown. Our aim was to correlate the severity of ESLD with morphologic and functional heart changes.Material and methods. 184 patients underwent a protocol providing data on the severity of ESLD and undergoing echocardiography to assess the diameters of the left atrium and right ventricle; the systolic and diastolic diameters of the left ventricle, interventricular septum, and posterior wall of the left ventricle; systolic pulmonary artery pressure; ejection fraction; and diastolic function. Severity of ESLD was assessed by the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score.Results. Left-atrial diameter (r = 0.323; IC 95% 0.190-0.455; p < 0.001), left-ventricular diastolic diameter (r = 0.177; IC 95% 0.033–0.320; p = 0.01) and systolic pulmonary artery pressure (r = 0.185; IC 95% 0.036-0.335; p = 0.02) significantly correlated with MELD score. Patients with MELD ≥ 16 had significantly higher left-atrial diameter and systolic pulmonary artery pressure, compared with patients with MELD scores < 16 points.Conclusions. Changes in cardiac structure and function correlate with the severity of ESLD
