Characterization and quantification of symmetric Gaussian state entanglement through a local classicality criterion
A necessary and sufficient condition for characterization and quantification
of entanglement of any bipartite Gaussian state belonging to a special symmetry
class is given in terms of classicality measures of one-party states. For
Gaussian states whose local covariance matrices have equal determinants it is
shown that separability of a two-party state and classicality of one party
state are completely equivalent to each other under a nonlocal operation,
allowing entanglement features to be understood in terms of any available
classicality measure.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure. Replaced with final published versio
One-loop conformal anomaly in an implicit momentum space regularization framework
In this paper we consider matter fields in a gravitational background in
order to compute the breaking of the conformal current at one-loop order.
Standard perturbative calculations of conformal symmetry breaking expressed by
the non-zero trace of the energy-momentum tensor have shown that some violating
terms are regularization dependent, which may suggest the existence of spurious
breaking terms in the anomaly. Therefore, we perform the calculation in a
momentum space regularization framework in which regularization dependent terms
are judiciously parametrized. We compare our results with those obtained in the
literature and conclude that there is an unavoidable arbitrariness in the
anomalous term .Comment: in European Physical Journal C, 201
Quasi-stationary states and the range of pair interactions
"Quasi-stationary" states are approximately time-independent out of
equilibrium states which have been observed in a variety of systems of
particles interacting by long-range interactions. We investigate here the
conditions of their occurrence for a generic pair interaction V(r \rightarrow
\infty) \sim 1/r^a with a > 0, in d>1 dimensions. We generalize analytic
calculations known for gravity in d=3 to determine the scaling parametric
dependences of their relaxation rates due to two body collisions, and report
extensive numerical simulations testing their validity. Our results lead to the
conclusion that, for a < d-1, the existence of quasi-stationary states is
ensured by the large distance behavior of the interaction alone, while for a >
d-1 it is conditioned on the short distance properties of the interaction,
requiring the presence of a sufficiently large soft-core in the interaction
potential.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures; final version to appear in Phys. Rev. Let
Conductivity of Coulomb interacting massless Dirac particles in graphene: Regularization-dependent parameters and symmetry constraints
We compute the Coulomb correction to the a. c. conductivity of
interacting massless Dirac particles in graphene in the collisionless limit
using the polarization tensor approach in a regularization independent
framework. Arbitrary parameters stemming from differences between
logarithmically divergent integrals are fixed on physical grounds exploiting
only spatial rotational invariance of the model which amounts to
transversality of the polarization tensor. Consequently is
unequivocally determined to be within this effective model. We
compare our result with explicit regularizations and discuss the origin of
others results for found in the literature
Cluster Origin of Triple Star HD 188753 and its Planet
The recent discovery by M. Konacki of a ``hot Jupiter'' in the hierarchical
triple star system HD 188753 challenges established theories of giant-planet
formation. If the orbital geometry of the triple has not changed since the
birth of the planet, then a disk around the planetary host star would probably
have been too compact and too hot for a Jovian planet to form by the
core-accretion model or gravitational collapse. This paradox is resolved if the
star was initially either single or had a much more distant companion. It is
suggested here that a close multi-star dynamical encounter transformed this
initial state into the observed triple, an idea that follows naturally if HD
188753 formed in a moderately dense stellar system--perhaps an open
cluster--that has since dissolved. Three distinct types of encounters are
investigated. The most robust scenario involves an initially single planetary
host star that changes places with the outlying member of a pre-existing
hierarchical triple.Comment: Accepted by ApJL; minor changes from origina
