Charmless hadronic B decays at BABAR

Using 22.7M BBbar events collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC, we present preliminary measurements of the branching fractions for charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into two-body, quasi two-body and three-body final states with pions, kaons, and rho and a0 resonances. In the search for exclusive $B^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$, we measure ${\cal B}(B^0 \to \rho^{\pm}(770)\pi^{\mp})=(28.9\pm5.4\pm4.3) \times 10^{-6}$, together with the relative asymmetry ${\cal A}_{\rm phys} = -0.04 \pm 0.18 \pm 0.02$. We also set the upper limits on $B^0 \to \rho^0(770)\pi^0$, non-resonant $B^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$, $B^0 \to a_0^{\pm}(\to \eta\pi^{\pm})\pi^{\mp}$ and $B^0 \to K^0\bar K^0$.Comment: 6 pages, 4 postscript figures, submitted to EPS HEP 200

Carmen Martín Gaite, además de novelista, poeta y ensayista, fue una esmerada traductora de textos literarios. Traducir significó para ella situarse en el punto ideal de encuentro entre lectura y escritura, con ánimo de ‘contar’ lo que había leído. Este volumen ofrece el primer estudio sistemático sobre la labor traductora de Carmen Martín Gaite, ya sea como tarea práctica ya sea como elaboración de una teoría implícita de la traducción, en la que destacan el planteamiento irreductiblemente literario de la escritora y su identificación con el lector. Así mismo, la presentación cronológica del corpus completo de sus traducciones permite trazar la trayectoria de una biografía intelectual en la que todo lo leído activa un potencial creativo y de reflexión que desencadena una compleja intertextualidad, ofreciendo una perspectiva eficaz para arrojar luz sobre su obra ‘global’. &nbsp

IL PROGETTO PAESAGGI E LINGUA: CRITERI, APPLICAZIONI E SFIDE NELLO STUDIO DEL PAESAGGIO LINGUISTICO

Paesaggi e Lingue è un database composto da una serie di immagini fotografiche raccolte in alcune zone della città di Milano ad alta densità di esercizi commerciali gestiti da stranieri. Ogni fotografia è corredata da una scheda dati che ne classifica i vari aspetti (linguistici, spaziali, funzionali, merceologici ecc.), rendendo possibile l’inquadramento quantitativo e la selezione di casi significativi agli studiosi di diverse discipline. Facendo riferimento all’ormai abbondante letteratura sul PL, l’articolo propone la riflessione teorico-metodologica che ha accompagnato la realizzazione del data base. Le principali questioni affrontate riguardano l’organizzazione gerarchica degli elementi del PL (unità, sottounità, segni), che permette di analizzare, oltre al singolo segno, anche il campo di relazioni nel quale esso è inscritto, e il carattere composito delle categorizzazioni generali (p. es. PL istituzionale, commerciale, informale), nelle quali a determinati attori sono associati determinati spazi e funzioni. Il risultato di questa riflessione è stato una semplificazione e moltiplicazione delle variabili che permette di incrociare i dati raccolti secondo molteplici prospettive di ricerca e disciplinari.   The landscapes and language project: criteria, application and challenges in the study of linguistic landscapes Paesaggi e Lingue is a database on the Linguistic Landscape (PL) composed of a series of photographic images taken in some areas of the city of Milan with a high density of shops run by foreigners. Each photograph is accompanied by a data sheet that classifies the various aspects (linguistic, spatial, functional, product-related, etc.), making it possible for scholars from different disciplines to provide a quantitative framework and select significant cases. Referring to the abundant literature on PL, the article proposes the theoretical-methodological reflection that accompanied the realization of the database. The main issues addressed concern the hierarchical organization of the PL elements (units, subunits, signs), which allows us to analyze not only the single sign but also the field of relationships in which it is inscribed as well as the composite character of general categorizations (e.g., institutional, commercial, informal PL), in which certain actors are associated with certain spaces and functions. The result of this reflection has been a simplification and multiplication of the variables that allows the data collected to be cross-referenced according to multiple research and disciplinary perspectives

Standard Model updates and new physics analysis with the Unitarity Triangle fit

We present here the update of the Unitarity Triangle (UT) analysis performed by the UTfit Collaboration within the Standard Model (SM) and beyond. Continuously updated flavour results contribute to improving the precision of several constraints and through the global fit of the CKM parameters and the SM predictions. We also extend the UT analysis to investigate new physics (NP) effects on $\Delta F=2$ processes. Finally, based on the NP constraints, we derive upper bounds on the coefficients of the most general $\Delta F=2$ effective Hamiltonian.
