    Strategic Framework to Maintenance Decision Support Systems

    AbstractIn current global markets the maintenance can be considered key to assurance the required function of equipments and low life cycle costs of productive equipments. In this context, the Maintenance Decision Support Systems can be relevant as strategic framework. Accordingly, in this paper, the main objective is integrating the strategic functions with Balanced Score-Card, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process, where the Key Performance Indicators are associated to goals of company. The core of this purpose is to maximize the efficiency of the plant through maintenance. The decisional problem has been modelled with four production areas, as alternatives, that were pre-selected by experts. Commercial package Expert Choice has been used to model the problem and to analyse the results. A purely strategic approach has been followed to maintenance in the industrial business; results serve as input in tactical scope

    The clustering of galaxies in the SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: RSD measurement from the power spectrum and bispectrum of the DR12 BOSS galaxies

    We measure and analyse the bispectrum of the final, Data Release 12, galaxy sample provided by the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey, splitting by selection algorithm into LOWZ and CMASS galaxies. The LOWZ sample contains 361\,762 galaxies with an effective redshift of zLOWZ=0.32z_{\rm LOWZ}=0.32, and the CMASS sample 777\,202 galaxies with an effective redshift of zCMASS=0.57z_{\rm CMASS}=0.57. Combining the power spectrum, measured relative to the line-of-sight, with the spherically averaged bispectrum, we are able to constrain the product of the growth of structure parameter, ff, and the amplitude of dark matter density fluctuations, σ8\sigma_8, along with the geometric Alcock-Paczynski parameters, the product of the Hubble constant and the comoving sound horizon at the baryon drag epoch, H(z)rs(zd)H(z)r_s(z_d), and the angular distance parameter divided by the sound horizon, DA(z)/rs(zd)D_A(z)/r_s(z_d). After combining pre-reconstruction RSD analyses of the power spectrum monopole, quadrupole and bispectrum monopole; with post-reconstruction analysis of the BAO power spectrum monopole and quadrupole, we find f(zLOWZ)σ8(zLOWZ)=0.427±0.056f(z_{\rm LOWZ})\sigma_8(z_{\rm LOWZ})=0.427\pm 0.056, DA(zLOWZ)/rs(zd)=6.60±0.13D_A(z_{\rm LOWZ})/r_s(z_d)=6.60 \pm 0.13, H(zLOWZ)rs(zd)=(11.55±0.38)103kms1H(z_{\rm LOWZ})r_s(z_d)=(11.55\pm 0.38)10^3\,{\rm kms}^{-1} for the LOWZ sample, and f(zCMASS)σ8(zCMASS)=0.426±0.029f(z_{\rm CMASS})\sigma_8(z_{\rm CMASS})=0.426\pm 0.029, DA(zCMASS)/rs(zd)=9.39±0.10D_A(z_{\rm CMASS})/r_s(z_d)=9.39 \pm 0.10, H(zCMASS)rs(zd)=(14.02±0.22)103kms1H(z_{\rm CMASS})r_s(z_d)=(14.02\pm 0.22)10^3\,{\rm kms}^{-1} for the CMASS sample. We find general agreement with previous BOSS DR11 and DR12 measurements. Combining our dataset with {\it Planck15} we perform a null test of General Relativity (GR) through the γ\gamma-parametrisation finding γ=0.7330.069+0.068\gamma=0.733^{+0.068}_{-0.069}, which is 2.7σ\sim2.7\sigma away from the GR predictions.Comment: 34 pages, 22 figures, 8 tables. The extracts obtained with methanol, water and methanol:water (1:1) from 21 mushroom species were screened as potential sources of pancreatic lipase (PL) inhibitors using a standardised in vitro test. Lepiota procera methanol:water (1:1) extracts showed the highest inhibition activity closely followed by Grifola frondosa, Pleurotus eryngii and Lyophyllum shimeji. Other mushroom strains such as Morchella conica, Marasmius oreades, Lentinula edodes, Amanita ponderosa and Boletus edulis also showed a certain inhibitory activity. However, when the PL inhibitory activity was evaluated using an in vitro digestion model mimicking gut conditions, none of the selected mushroom extracts were able to inhibit PL activity.     Validity of the polar h7 heart rate sensor for heart rate variability analysis during exercise in different age, body composition and fitness level groups

    This work aims to validate the Polar H7 heart rate (HR) sensor for heart rate variability (HRV) analysis at rest and during various exercise intensities in a cohort of male volunteers with different age, body composition and fitness level. Cluster analysis was carried out to evaluate how these phenotypic characteristics influenced HR and HRV measurements. For this purpose, sixty-seven volunteers performed a test consisting of the following consecutive segments: sitting rest, three submaximal exercise intensities in cycle-ergometer and sitting recovery. The agreement between HRV indices derived from Polar H7 and a simultaneous electrocardiogram (ECG) was assessed using concordance correlation coefficient (CCC). The percentage of subjects not reaching excellent agreement (CCC > 0.90) was higher for high-frequency power (PHF) than for low-frequency power (PLF) of HRV and increased with exercise intensity. A cluster of unfit and not young volunteers with high trunk fat percentage showed the highest error in HRV indices. This study indicates that Polar H7 and ECG were interchangeable at rest. During exercise, HR and PLF showed excellent agreement between devices. However, during the highest exercise intensity, CCC for PHF was lower than 0.90 in as many as 60% of the volunteers. During recovery, HR but not HRV measurements were accurate. As a conclusion, phenotypic differences between subjects can represent one of the causes for disagreement between HR sensors and ECG devices, which should be considered specifically when using Polar H7 and, generally, in the validation of any HR sensor for HRV analysis

    On the removal of s-triazine herbicides from waters using commercial low-cost granular carbons

    The adsorption capacities of three low-cost granular active carbons, used in a water treatment facility for the removal of the triazine herbicides propazine, prometryn and prometon, was evaluated. Kinetic studies showed that the three carbon samples used could be suitable in practice for the treatment of moderate contents of the herbicides in contaminated waters. The apparent adsorption rate constants were calculated. Equilibrium studies showed that the data fit the Frumkin isotherm. The results show that in the adsorption process there are repulsive lateral interactions that depend mainly on the adsorbate molecules rather than the nature or distribution of the adsorption sites. Such lateral interactions seem to be established mainly between the isopropyl groups of adjacent molecules, being of the same order for the three molecules

    Pressurized water extraction of β-glucan enriched fractions with bile acids-binding capacities obtained from edible mushrooms

Extraction yields were higher in individual than sequential extractions being the optimal extraction parameters: 200ºC, 5 cycles of 5 min each at 10.3 MPa. The crude polysaccharide (PSC) fractions, isolated from the PWE extracts contained mainly β-glucans (including chitooligosaccharides deriving from chitin hydrolysis), -glucans and other PSCs (hetero-/proteo-glucans) depending on the extraction temperature and mushroom strain considered.     Synthesis of rigidified shikimic acid derivatives by ring-closing metathesis to imprint inhibitor efficacy against shikimate kinase enzyme

    Diverse rigidified shikimic acids derivatives, which are stable mimetics of the high-energy conformation of shikimic acid, have been synthesized to enhance inhibitor efficacy against shikimate kinase enzyme (SK), an attractive target for antibiotic drug discovery. The synthesis of the reported conformationally restricted shikimic acid derivatives was carried out by ring-closing metathesis of allyloxy vinyl derivatives as the key step. The rigidification of the ligand conformation was used to maximize the effectiveness of the substituents introduced in the ether carbon bridge of the scaffold by pre-orienting their interaction with key residues and enzyme domains that are essential for catalysis and enzyme motion. Molecular Dynamics simulation studies on the enzyme/ligand complexes revealed marked differences in the positioning of the ligand substituent in the active site of the two enzymes studied (SK from Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Helicobacter pylori) and this explains their greater efficacy against one of the enzymes. This enhancement is due to the distinct induced-fit motion of the two homologous enzymes.     Sublittoral soft bottom communities and diversity of Mejillones Bay in northern Chile (Humboldt Current upwelling system)

    The macrozoobenthos of Mejillones Bay (23°S; Humboldt Current) was quantitatively investigated over a 7-year period from austral summer 1995/1996 to winter 2002. About 78 van Veen grab samples taken at six stations (5, 10, 20 m depth) provided the basis for the analysis of the distribution of 60 species and 28 families of benthic invertebrates, as well as of their abundance and biomass. Mean abundance (2,119 individuals m-2) was in the same order compared to a previous investigation; mean biomass (966 g formalin wet mass m-2), however, exceeded prior estimations mainly due to the dominance of the bivalve Aulacomya ater. About 43% of the taxa inhabited the complete depth range. Mean taxonomic Shannon diversity (H', Log e) was 1.54 ± 0.58 with a maximum at 20 m (1.95 ± 0.33); evenness increased with depth. The fauna was numerically dominated by carnivorous gastropods, polychaetes and crustaceans (48%). About 15% of the species were suspensivorous, 13% sedimentivorous, 11% detritivorous, 7% omnivorous and 6% herbivorous. Cluster analyses showed a significant difference between the shallow and the deeper stations. Gammarid amphipods and the polychaete family Nephtyidae characterized the 5-mzone, the molluscs Aulacomya ater, Mitrella unifasciata and gammarids the intermediate zone, while the gastropod Nassarius gayi and the polychaete family Nereidae were most prominent at the deeper stations. The communities of the three depth zones did not appear to be limited by hypoxia during non-El Niño conditions. Therefore, no typical change in community structure occurred during El Niño 1997–1998, in contrast to what was observed for deeper faunal assemblages and hypoxic bays elsewhere in the coastal Humboldt Current system
