Keys and Notes on the Buprestidae (Coleoptera) of Michigan
The distribution and dates of adult activity for Michigan buprestids are discussed. Keys to the genera and species, as well as host information are presented for 116 species and one subspecies. Information on collecting techniques, illustrations of genitalia of 14 species, and scanning electron micrographs of certain structures useful in species identification are presented and discussed. In addition, Pachyschelus confusus, a new species, is described from bush clover
Constraints on narrow exotic states from K+p and K0_Lp scattering data
We consider the effect of exotic S=+1 resonances Theta+ and Theta++ on K+p
elastic scattering data (total cross section) and the process K0_Lp-->K0_Sp.
Data near the observed Theta+(1540) are examined for evidence of additional
states. The width limit for a Theta++ state is reconsidered and shown to be

Mechanism of Pion Production in p Scattering at 1 GeV/nucleon
The one-pion and two-pion production in the p(alpha, alpha prime)X reaction
at an energy of E{alpha} = 4.2 GeV has been studied by simultaneous
registration of the scattered alpha particles and the secondary pion or proton.
The obtained results demonstrate that the inelastic alpha-particle scattering
on the proton at the energy of the experiment proceeds either through
excitation and decay of Delta resonance in the projectile or through excitation
in the target proton of the Roper resonance, which decays mainly on a nucleon
and a pion or a nucleon and a sigma meson - system of two pions in the isospin

e^+e^- Pair Production from A Reactions
We present a calculation of e^+e^- production in reactions at MAMI
and TJNAF energies within a semi-classical BUU transport model. Dilepton
invariant mass spectra for C, Ca and Pb are calculated
at 0.8, 1.5 and 2.2 GeV. We focus on observable effects of medium modifications
of the and mesons. The in-medium widths of these mesons are
taken into account in a dynamical, consistent way. We discuss the transport
theoretical treatment of broad resonances.Comment: 42 pages including 16 figure
Using bond-length dependent transferable force constants to predict vibrational entropies in Au-Cu, Au-Pd, and Cu-Pd alloys
A model is tested to rapidly evaluate the vibrational properties of alloys
with site disorder. It is shown that length-dependent transferable force
constants exist, and can be used to accurately predict the vibrational entropy
of substitutionally ordered and disordered structures in Au-Cu, Au-Pd, and
Cu-Pd. For each relevant force constant, a length- dependent function is
determined and fitted to force constants obtained from first-principles
pseudopotential calculations. We show that these transferable force constants
can accurately predict vibrational entropies of L1-ordered and disordered
phases in CuAu, AuPd, PdAu, CuPd, and PdAu. In
addition, we calculate the vibrational entropy difference between
L1-ordered and disordered phases of AuCu and CuPt.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, 3 table
The two pion decay of the Roper resonance
We evaluate the two pion decay of the Roper resonance in a model where
explicit re-scattering of the two final pions is accounted for by the use of
unitarized chiral perturbation theory. Our model does not include an explicit
or scalar-isoscalar meson decay mode, instead it
generates it dynamically by means of the pion re-scattering. The two ways,
explicit or dynamically generated, of introducing this decay channel have very
different amplitudes.
Nevertheless, through interference with the other terms of the model we are
able to reproduce the same phenomenology as models with explicit consideration

Dilepton production in proton-proton collisions at BEVALAC energies
The dilepton production in elementary reactions at
BEVALAC energies GeV is investigated. The calculations
include direct decays of the vector mesons , , and , Dalitz decays of the -, -, -, -, and -mesons, and of the baryon resonances
. The subthreshold vector meson production cross sections in
collisions are treated in a way sufficient to avoid double counting with the
inclusive vector meson production. The vector meson dominance model for the
transition form factors of the resonance Dalitz decays is
used in an extended form to ensure correct asymptotics which are in agreement
with the quark counting rules. Such a modification gives an unified and
consistent description of both radiative decays and meson decays.
The effect of multiple pion production on the experimental efficiency for the
detection of the dilepton pairs is studied. We find the dilepton yield in
reasonable agreement with the experimental data for the set of intermediate
energies whereas at the highest energy GeV the number of
dilepton pairs is likely to be overestimated experimentally in the mass range

A Phenomenological Description of (\pi^{-}\Delta^{++}) Photo- and Electroproduction in Nucleon Resonance Region
The (\pi^{-}\Delta^{++}) production on the nucleon by real and virtual
photons is discussed as initial step in a simple model approach for the two
pion photo- and electroproduction on the nucleon, with emphasis on nucleon
resonance excitation which is of interest for new facilities like TJNAF. A
calculation for (\pi^{-}\Delta^{++}) channel in resonance excitation region is
presented and compared to existing experimental data along with a discussion of
physical effects that we find to be of relevance. The calculation is proposed
as a starting basis for the investigation of (N^{*}) electromagnetic form
factors using experimental data about two pion production by real and virtual

Photoproduction of mesons in nuclei at GeV energies
In a transport model that combines initial state interactions of the photon
with final state interactions of the produced particles we present a
calculation of inclusive photoproduction of mesons in nuclei in the energy
range from 1 to 7 GeV. We give predictions for the photoproduction cross
sections of pions, etas, kaons, antikaons, and invariant mass
spectra in ^{12}C and ^{208}Pb. The effects of nuclear shadowing and final
state interaction of the produced particles are discussed in detail.Comment: Text added in summary in general reliability of the method,

Chiral unitary approach to S-wave meson baryon scattering in the strangeness S=0 sector
We study the S-wave interaction of mesons with baryons in the strangeness S=0
sector in a coupled channel unitary approach. The basic dynamics is drawn from
the lowest order meson baryon chiral Lagrangians. Small modifications inspired
by models with explicit vector meson exchange in the t-channel are also
considered. In addition the pi pi N channel is included and shown to have an
important repercussion in the results, particularly in the isospin 3/2 sector.Comment: 23 pages, LaTeX, 21 figure
