Physicians’ Perceived Threats and Electronic Medical Record Workaround

    Get PDF
Electronic medical record (EMR) systems can improve patient care and their usages are mandatory in many health care organizations. Yet, some physicians engaged in workaround behaviors as a response to their negative experiences in using EMR. Leveraging protection motivation theory, we propose a theoretical framework to understand what causes physicians to use EMR systems less effectively. We posit that EMR systems’ usability and physicians’ technology capability affect their appraisal of threats associated with EMR use, which in turn influences their workaround behaviors. We conclude with some implications to research and practice, and opportunities for future research

Sistem Tracer Study Alumni Fakultas Ilmu Komputer Universitas Muslim Indonesia Menggunakan Metode On-line Analitycal Processing (Olap)

The Nature and Role of Perceived Threats in User Resistance to Healthcare Information Technology: A Psychological Reactance Theory Perspective

    Get PDF
The efforts of the United States government in the past 15 years have included harnessing the power of health information technology (HIT) to improve legibility, lessen medical errors, keep costs low, and elevate the quality of healthcare. However, user resistance is still a barrier to overcome in order to achieve desired outcomes. Understanding the nature of resistance is key to successfully increasing the adoption of HIT systems. Previous research has showed that perceived threats are a significant antecedent of user resistance; however, its nature and role have remained vastly unexplored. This study uses the psychological reactance theory to explain both the nature and role of perceived threats in HIT-user resistance. The study shows that perceived helplessness over process and perceived dissatisfaction over outcomes are two unique instances of perceived threats. Additionally, the results reveal that resistance to healthcare information systems can manifest as reactance, distrust, scrutiny, or inertia. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed

Evaluation of different morphotypes of mango (mangifera indica l.) for use as rootstock in seedlings production

The experiment was designed to assess the growth performance of improved cultivars of Mango grafted on adapted local morphological types. Two trials were conducted in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 wet season at the teaching and research farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Bayero University, Kano (110 58’N and 80 25’E) situated in Sudan Savanna ecological zone of Nigeria. The experiment consisted of four morphotypes (Binta Siga, Gwaiwar Rago, Dankamaru and Fafaranda) factorially combined with three scions (Alphonso, Peach and Taymour) and laid out in a completely randomized design with three repetitions. The results showed that Binta Siga was identified as the best rootstock in terms of plant establishment probably due to production of higher number of roots, stem diameter, number of leaves, percentage take and general crop vigor. Taymour was observed to be the best scion in terms of compatibility with most of the rootstocks as expressed by its superior performance with regard to the characters mentioned earlier. Binta Siga is therefore recommended for use as rootstock by nursery men in Mango seedlings production for higher profit margin in Kano environmen

Rekomendasi Pembelian Personal Komputer dengan Metode Ranked Clustering

    Get PDF

The Contribution of Io-Raised Tides to Europa's Diurnally-Varying Surface Stresses

Europa's icy surface records a rich history of geologic activity, Several features appear to be tectonic in origin and may have formed in response to Europa's daily-varying tidal stress [I]. Strike-slip faults and arcuate features called cycloids have both been linked to the patterns of stress change caused by eccentricity and obliquity [2J[3]. In fact, as Europa's obliquity has not been directly measured, observed tectonic patterns arc currently the best indicators of a theoretically supported [4] non-negligible obliquity. The diurnal tidal stress due to eccentricity is calculated by subtracting the average (or static) tidal shape of Europa generated by Jupiter's gravitational field from the instantaneous shape, which varies as Europa moves through its eccentric orbit [5]. In other words, it is the change of shape away from average that generates tidal stress. One might expect tidal contributions from the other large moons of Jupiter to be negligible given their size and the height of the tides they raise on Europa versus Jupiter's mass and the height of the tide it raises on Europa, However, what matters for tidally-induced stress is not how large the lo-raised bulge is compared to the Jupiter-raised bulge but rather the differences bet\Veen the instantaneous and static bulges in each case. For example, when Europa is at apocenter, Jupiter raises a tide 30m lower than its static tide. At the same time, 10 raises a tide about 0.5m higher than its static tide. Hence, the change in Io's tidal distortion is about 2% of the change in the Jovian distortion when Europa is at apocente
