    Get PDF

Object Oriented Simulation: Highlights on The PROSIT Parallel Discrete Event Simulator

    Get PDF
The Prosit project, launched in 1991, is devoted to the development of a new discrete event simulation system based on the object paradigm. Object orientation is used to ensure two main concerns: ffl performance on both conventional and multiprocessor machines ffl versatility and ease of use. In particular, Prosit user programs (models and experiment descriptions) should need only a new compilation so as to run efficiently on either a single monoprocessor workstation, a cluster of workstations or a multi-processor machine. This paper describes the design status of the project. It discusses the implementation strategies for several key aspects of the project. Rather than the model architecture that was presented and discussed in (MM93), it details the Prosit simulation environement architecture and addresses many aspects of distributed object oriented programming

This article first draws up a balance sheet of all various implemented techniques to observe and monitor the shallow marine biodiversity. Then the article focuses on the techniques of the rotating high resolution submarine video and their implementation in New Caledonia on various sites and habitats under various management / protection policies such as Marines Protected Areas, strict marine reserves, registered sites on UNESCO world heritage or free access zones. An evaluation of these techniques and of their contributions is proposed in terms of transfer to other geographical zones, of practical feasibility in the technical, logistic and cost point of view as also are analyzed the perspectives offered by those technologies in terms of innovation, of support for the management or as communication tool on the health of the observed biodiversity.
