Fritillaria shehbazii and F. selenica (Liliaceae), two new species from Iran
Two new species, Fritillaria shehbazii from Western Azerbaijan province in northwest Iran and F. selenica from Kurdistan province in western Iran are described. Fritillaria shehbazii is similar to F. chlororhabdota, F. pinardii, F. zagrica, F. kordestanica, F. assyriaca and F. umitkaplanii in the F. caucasica-group in general facies, but differs mainly by the colour and size of its lowest leaves, and shape and colour of perigone segments. Fritillaria selenica is similar to F. assyriaca and F. kordestanica in general facies, but differs mainly by narrower leaves. Detailed taxonomic descriptions, diagnostic characters, original photographs, geographical distributions, habitat, phenology and ecology, etymology, conservation status and phylogenetic analysis of the new and the related species are presented
A new species of Veronica (Plantaginaceae) from Western Iran
A new species, Veronica kurdistanica (Plantaginaceae), is described and illustrated. It grows on limestone cliffs in mountainous alpine areas of western Iran (Kurdistan province). The new species belongs to the species group of V. kurdica and is considered to be closely related to V. daranica, V. khorassanica and V. kurdica, with which the new species is compared. Molecular phylogenetic analysis of nrDNA (ITS) region confirms this relationship. Veronica kurdistanica is distinguished from the mentioned species by its glandular indumentum, length and shape of leaves and bracts, number of flowers per raceme, length and width of calyx and corolla, and size of capsules and seeds

Fritillaria avromanica sp nov (Liliaeceae) from Iran and notes on F-melananthera in Turkey
WOS: 000362577700004Fritillaria avromanica is described as a new species from Iran based on specimens collected from Hawraman. Taxonomic descriptions, illustrations, geographical distribution, habitat, ecology, and conservation status of the new species and the closely related F. assyriaca and F. melananthera are provided. In addition F. melananthera is given the rank of species, rather than being subspecies of F. assyriaca. The differences between F. melananthera and F. assyriaca are discussed with pollen and chromosomal characteristics
Fritillaria kordestanica (Liliaceae), a new species from western Iran
Fritillaria Linnaeus (1753: 303; Liliaceae) comprises about 170 species of geophytic perennials (Rix 2019) occurring in most temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere (Tomović et al. 2007, Hill 2014, Day et al. 2014). The largest number of taxa has been found in Turkey (46 species) and Greece (31 taxa, 26 species and five subspecies)
Fritillaria (Liliaceae) in Iran: distribution and Nnomenclature
Genus Fritilaria comprises 18 species including two recently described species in Iran. Despite of new reports published and new taxa described available information on vegetation locations, status of their natural populations and taxonomy are not updated since publication of Flora iranica. Taxonomic status of the genus in Iran is reviewed here, and the floristic inventories during 24 years and the localities reported by Flora iranica are used along with available literature as well as our recent collections, in order to update the distribution maps of Fritillaria species in Iran. Fritillaria crassifolia subsp. polunini (from Kurdistan) and F. pinardii (from W-Azerbayjan) are reported as new records for Iran. Suggestions are made for conservation of some Fritillaria species based on the status of their distribution in Iran
Onosma safaie-fari (Boraginaceae), a new species from western Iran
International audienceOnosma safaie-fari (of O. subsect. Asterotricha) is described as a new species from western Iran. Onosma safaiefariis morphologically similar to O. iranshahrii, but it is distinct in terms of the shape of sterile shoots and caulineleaves; length of fruiting calyx, shape, and width of calyx lobes; and color of the corolla. In addition, O. safaie-fariis similar to O. bisotunensis, but it is distinguished by the shape and length of lower bracts; length of the fruitingcalyx; color and length of the corolla; length of the free part of filaments; the position of filaments arising from thecorolla, and length of anthers. Onosma safaie-fari is close to O. shehbazii, but it can be distinguished from it basedon the shape and length of sterile shoots and cauline leaves, length of lower bracts, length of fruiting calyx, colorand length of the corolla, length of anthers, and the presence of a hairy nectary ring. Detailed descriptions, diagnostic characters, original photographs, illustrations, a geographical distribution map, habitat information, animage of the holotype specimen, and an identification key are presented
