An Analytic Study on Evolution of Social Spaces

    Get PDF
Social spaces have confronted huge changes through ages but they date back to the history of social life of man. Due to social characteristics, human being in his life demand for social life based on exchanging thoughts, culture and ideas. Therefore, with respect to massive changes, man familiarizes himself with concepts such as society, gathering and reunion and can benefit from a community spirit. With regard to the important role of city halls in social spaces, it is worth mentioning that the history of these spaces and also the necessity of their creation, with respect to current social demands and using new methods to help people participate in city affairs and taking responsibility for cities issues should also taken into account

AbstractChild friendly education offered through games provides an environment for direct playing and indirect learning simultaneously. During a sixteen-session course in a school in Tehran, a friendly environment was provided for eight-year-old learners to experience indirect learning via educational games. Creating such an educational atmosphere helped the children learn to cooperate well in groups as well as learn lessons through fun. They also learned some simple instructions used in everyday life. This way of looking at language learning also increased their motivation. During the course I experienced things that can hardly be found in books

Examination Of Intrinsically Motivated Shopping Behaviors Across Contexts

    Get PDF
This exploratory research determines the measurement dimensions of intrinsic motivation for shopping behavior contexts.  In addition, the dimensions are suggested to be strongly related and they are assessed for their possible unidimensionality.  Based on findings, this research indeed provides evidence that the dimensions are highly related.  Evidence is also found to support the similarity of intrinsic motivation dimensions across different contexts, such as age and income.  Different future research strategies are suggested for further advancement of inquiry about intrinsic motivation in shopping and intrinsic motivation in general.

Review of Environmental Paradigms in Residential Complexes: A Case Study in Ekbatan Complex

The impact of built environment on human being behavior is inevitable. Built environment can prevent human being from doing something or encourage going further. Considering undeniable role of environment in creating behavior and negative norms, environmental possibilities has become more important. CPTED is an approach related to crime prevention that is based on the reduction the possibility of committing a crime in physical environment. This article with survey methodology (Observation, interview and multiple choice questions) and reviewing the existing theories with library and documentary research is regarded as the main components in CPTED approach. Relying on this approach, this research aims to analyze physical factors that may cause an increase in crime and hot spots and also risky places and times in residents’ point of view

The Effect of Brand Equity Components on Purchase Intention: An Application of Aaker’s Model in the Automobile Industry

Abstract: The paper aims to investigate the effect of brand equity dimensions on purchase intention, based on Aaker’s well-known conceptual framework in the automobile industry. Building on extensive literature, a model of consumers’ purchase intention that includes the major determinants of brand equity model is proposed. Based on a sample of 242 consumers, structural equation modeling is used to test hypotheses. The research reveals that brand awareness, brand association, brand loyalty, and perceived quality have a significant impact on consumers’ intention to purchase products. The paper suggests that marketers should carefully consider the brand equity components when designing their branding strategies. Marketers are also called on to adapt their branding approaches to fit each marketing environment and enhance brand loyalty to reduce the switching behavior of consumers. The paper clarifies the interrelation between the four brand equity model components and purchase intention. Key words: Brand equity; Purchase intention; Structural equation modelling; Consumer behavio

Relation between energy consumption and window to wall ratio in high-rise office buildings in Tehran

    Get PDF
Development and expansion of high-rise buildings in Iran and the high energy consumption thereof have made adoption of energy consumption reduction strategies a necessity. Building shell and its various parts are the most effective elements in terms of energy consumption. Paying due attention to this fact, the authors of the present article investigate the relation between the window to wall ratio (W.W.R) and energy consumption in high-rise office buildings subjected to climatic conditions in Tehran. The eQUEST software was used to simulate the annual energy consumption of the considered base-case model. In this process, a 100% W.W.R was initially selected for the base-case model. Then, the research tests were conducted at W.W.R of 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20% both generally and individually (side-to-side test). The results showed that the window to wall ratio and annual energy consumption were directly related, i.e., a 20% reduction in the W.W.R could decrease the annual energy consumption in the research base-case model by 17%. Furthermore, the results indicated that the W.W.R affected the energy consumption differently at different sides of the base-case model and that in this respect, the building sides could be prioritized in the following order: south, east, west, and north

Preparation and Characterization of Magnetic Chitosan/-Carrageenan Nanocomposite and its Application for Removal of Eriochrome black-T from Aqueous Solutions

Due to the non-biodegradability of some dyes especially water soluble dyes, dye can pollute surface and groundwaters. Subsequently, discharging dye-contaminated wastewaters in the environment can endanger the human and aquatic life. In this work, a chitosan-based magnetic adsorbent was used for removal of anionic eriochrome black T. Magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized in situ in the presence of chitosan. The obtained magnetic chitosan was then crosslinked with kappa-carrageenan in order to overcome the solubility of chitosan under acidic conditions. The structure of magnetic adsorbent was investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, and VSM techniques. The removal of eriochrome black T by magnetic adsorbent was studied regarding dye concentration, pH, temperature, ionic strength, and contact time. The experimental adsorption isotherms were in good accordance with the Langmuir model. According to the Langmuir constants, the maximum adsorption capacity of magnetic adsorbent was acquired 150 mg/g. The adsorption kinetic data were properly described according to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. A decrease in dye adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was observed as the pH of dye solution was increased. The ease of preparation for magnetic adsorbent and its high adsorption capacity for eriochrome black T makes it a good candidate for removal of pollutants
