A (p,q)-deformed Landau problem in a spherical harmonic well: spectrum and noncommuting coordinates
A (p,q)-deformation of the Landau problem in a spherically symmetric harmonic
potential is considered. The quantum spectrum as well as space noncommutativity
are established, whether for the full Landau problem or its quantum Hall
projections. The well known noncommutative geometry in each Landau level is
recovered in the appropriate limit p,q=1. However, a novel noncommutative
algebra for space coordinates is obtained in the (p,q)-deformed case, which
could also be of interest to collective phenomena in condensed matter systems.Comment: 9 pages, no figures; updated reference
Do IFRS only lead to improved accounting quality for public companies? Empirical evidence from an emerging country
This study examines the impact of IFRS adoption on the financial reporting quality of private
and public Brazilian companies, measured through metrics for earnings smoothing,
discretionary accruals and management of earnings towards a target. Its findings suggest that
IFRS adoption in a country such as Brazil leads to higher quality financial reporting both in
private and public companies. We also found that public companies fare worse than their
private counterparts in terms of such quality, both before and after IFRS adoption. In addition,
we found a smaller gap between the quality of accounting information in public versus private
companies after IFRS adoption.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Maturation behavior of Maxi Gala grafetd on two rootstocks by no Destructive Method.
The evaluation of the maturation in apple orchards is checked using destructive methods, sampling fruits and analyzing them in the laboratory, making the process slow and expensive. The use of not destructive method to determine fruit maturation in the orchard could accelerate delivery of results and help in determining harvest time, because non-destructive data would allow to verify the maturation on different blocks in the orchard. The aim of this work was to chart fruit maturation in 'Maxi Gala' grafted on two different rootstocks, using destructive and not destructive methods. The non-destructive method used was the portable DA-Meter. The trial was realized at Vacaria, southern Brazillocated 28,44 S and 50,85 W. The samples were harvested on two orchards during the seasons 2014/15 and 2015/16, during six weeks before harvest from January until the second week of February. The sampling was realized in five different points of the orchard, on rootstocks M.9 or Marubakaido with M.9 interstem. Ten-apple samples were collected weekly in each point in the orchard and then evaluated by destructive method (flesh firmness, starch degradation, total soluble solids and acidity) and the not destructive method (DA-Meter). For both seasons, the evolution of the fruit maturation of Maxi Gala showed a similar progression for both rootstocks. The non-destructive method correlated well with the traditional destructive methods, making it a tool for more practical and easy determination of the harvest date
Practical Approach to the Diagnosis of the Vulvo-Vaginal Stromal Tumors: An Overview
Background: The category of the "stromal tumors of the lower female genital tract" encompasses a wide spectrum of lesions with variable heterogeneity, which can be nosologically classified on the basis of their morphologic and immunohistochemical profiles as deep (aggressive) angiomyxoma (DAM), cellular angiofibroma (CAF), angiomyofibroblastoma (AMFB) or myofibroblastoma (MFB). Despite the differential diagnosis between these entities being usually straightforward, their increasingly recognized unusual morphological variants, along with the overlapping morphological and immunohistochemical features among these tumours, may raise serious differential diagnostic problems. Methods and Results: The data presented in the present paper have been retrieved from the entire published literature on the PubMed website about DAM, CAF, AFMB and MFB from 1984 to 2021. The selected articles are mainly represented by small-series, and, more rarely, single-case reports with unusual clinicopathologic features. The present review focuses on the diagnostic clues of the stromal tumours of the lower female genital tract to achieve a correct classification. The main clinicopathologic features of each single entity, emphasizing their differential diagnostic clues, are discussed and summarized in tables. Representative illustrations, including the unusual morphological variants, of each single tumour are also provided. Conclusion: Awareness by pathologists of the wide morphological and immunohistochemical spectrum exhibited by these tumours is crucial to achieve correct diagnoses and to avoid confusion with reactive conditions or other benign or malignant entities
Chemical and NORM management in the Contaminated Sites of the Italian National Priority List
Contaminated Sites of the Italian National Priority List, being the legacy of industrial development, have different types of contamination to be managed with different approaches, different legislative procedures, and different control authorities; in particular between chemical and radiological contamination. This may lead to a bottleneck and to a delay in the operations needed for remediation. A synergistic approach involving all affected stakeholders certainly could reduce the time and cost of interventions measures
A Computer Aided Detection system for mammographic images implemented on a GRID infrastructure
The use of an automatic system for the analysis of mammographic images has
proven to be very useful to radiologists in the investigation of breast cancer,
especially in the framework of mammographic-screening programs. A breast
neoplasia is often marked by the presence of microcalcification clusters and
massive lesions in the mammogram: hence the need for tools able to recognize
such lesions at an early stage. In the framework of the GPCALMA (GRID Platform
for Computer Assisted Library for MAmmography) project, the co-working of
italian physicists and radiologists built a large distributed database of
digitized mammographic images (about 5500 images corresponding to 1650
patients) and developed a CAD (Computer Aided Detection) system, able to make
an automatic search of massive lesions and microcalcification clusters. The CAD
is implemented in the GPCALMA integrated station, which can be used also for
digitization, as archive and to perform statistical analyses. Some GPCALMA
integrated stations have already been implemented and are currently on clinical
trial in some italian hospitals. The emerging GRID technology can been used to
connect the GPCALMA integrated stations operating in different medical centers.
The GRID approach will support an effective tele- and co-working between
radiologists, cancer specialists and epidemiology experts by allowing remote
image analysis and interactive online diagnosis.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, to appear in the Proceedings of the 13th

Variational Density Matrix Method for Warm Condensed Matter and Application to Dense Hydrogen
A new variational principle for optimizing thermal density matrices is
introduced. As a first application, the variational many body density matrix is
written as a determinant of one body density matrices, which are approximated
by Gaussians with the mean, width and amplitude as variational parameters. The
method is illustrated for the particle in an external field problem, the
hydrogen molecule and dense hydrogen where the molecular, the dissociated and
the plasma regime are described. Structural and thermodynamic properties
(energy, equation of state and shock Hugoniot) are presented.Comment: 26 pages, 13 figures. submitted to Phys. Rev. E, October 199
The HMW effect in Noncommutative Quantum Mechanics
The HMW effect in non-commutative quantum mechanics is studied. By solving
the Dirac equations on non-commutative (NC) space and non-commutative phase
space, we obtain topological HMW phase on NC space and NC phase space
respectively, where the additional terms related to the space-space and
momentum-momentum non-commutativity are given explicitly.Comment: 8 Latex page
