Nowadays, the private health sector is partnered with big clinics, insurance companies and laboratories, which have an increasingly high demand by the Peruvian population as a result of COVID-19. In addition, children's health in Peru is becoming more relevant, so the Pediatric specialty service must put into action different strategies to cope with the target audiences. For instance, the proper use of social network platforms and its tools, such as a feed, useful content rightly focused on the market segment, well designed Ads and exactly as a whole, an efficient digital marketing plan than can give a boost and encourage people to make an appointment at the health center of their choice.
Therefore, the goal of this research is to study Clinic La Luz, a company from the Grupo La Luz, to validate what strategies are being implemented at a digital level within the Pediatric field and what digital approach could be implemented to increase sales and the intention of the target to schedule a consult for outpatient care in the last bimester of 2023. Moreover, a qualitative study was conducted for this project, where the chosen method was a Focus Group with the target audience of the clinic. This provided support to propose an accurate strategy to increase the intention to schedule an appointment in the afternoon shift of the pediatrics service.Trabajo de Suficiencia Profesiona
An Open-Source Plate Reader
Microplate readers are foundational instruments in experimental biology and bioengineering that enable multiplexed spectrophotometric measurements. To enhance their accessibility, we here report the design, construction, validation, and benchmarking of an open-source microplate reader. The system features full-spectrum absorbance and fluorescence emission detection, in situ optogenetic stimulation, and stand-alone touch screen programming of automated assay protocols. The total system cost
Toolbox for Exploring Modular Gene Regulation in Synthetic Biology Training
We report a toolbox for exploring the modular tuning of genetic circuits, which has been specifically optimized for widespread deployment in STEM environments through a combination of bacterial strain engineering and distributable hardware development. The transfer functions of 16 genetic switches, programmed to express a GFP reporter under the regulation of the (acyl-homoserine lactone) AHL-sensitive luxR transcriptional activator, can be parametrically tuned by adjusting high/low degrees of transcriptional, translational, and post-translational processing. Strains were optimized to facilitate daily large-scale preparation and reliable performance at room temperature in order to eliminate the need for temperature controlled apparatuses, which are both cost-limiting and space-constraining. The custom-designed, automated, and web-enabled fluorescence documentation system allows time-lapse imaging of AHL-induced GFP expression on bacterial plates with real-time remote data access, thereby requiring trainees to only be present for experimental setup. When coupled with mathematical models in agreement with empirical data, this toolbox expands the scalability and scope of reliable synthetic biology experiments for STEM training
AMA7 – TF VAO A VIAJAR – Grupo 1
Nowadays, tourism industry is reinventing itself and taking on greater strength after a complicated stage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, since all countries around the world had to close their borders and enter a mandatory quarantine imposed by their governments. Also, people have begun to travel frequently again, either nationally or internationally, therefore they start to look for information on different websites about ticket fares, touristic hotels, guided tours, and travel documentation.
Therefore, for the present research project, the main objective was to find an adequate solution for people who love to travel and need to have all the information they need in order, in addition to different attributes that help them to move around a new city they are about to visit. For that reason, in search of getting to know the opinion of the target market and obtaining information about the business model, our team conducted a series of interviews with both adventurous travelers who travel many times a year, as well as influencers and experts in the tourism industry. Then, we proceeded to evaluate the segments that were going to be proposed to validate the target audience, and evaluate which channels were the best to reach consumers and their needs.
Finally, the demand behavior was analyzed to develop an income statement and a cash flow, using sales and costs projection for a period of 3 years. Subsequently, performance indicators were used to assess the viability of the project.Trabajo de investigació
Novel Design Strategies For Engineering Biliverdin-Binding Fluorescent Proteins
Fluorescent proteins (FPs) have revolutionized our ability to image biological systems. However, poor penetration and high autofluorescence of visible light in mammalian tissue has motivated the design of FPs that can take advantage of the minimal autofluorescence, scattering, and absorption in the near-infrared (NIR) “optical window” (650-900nm). Genetically-encoded NIR-FPs have been designed from various classes of photoreceptors to covalently attach biliverdin (BV), a heme metabolite that is endogenous to mammalian tissue, as their chromophore. While these proteins have been engineered to have modest quantum yields and fluorescence in vitro, performance in mammalian cells does not correlate with their biophysical properties. My thesis research explores two novel strategies for developing NIR-FPs with an attempt to better understand the key determinants of their performance in mammalian cells. In our first approach detailed in Chapter 2, we developed a de novo designed fluorescence-activating protein that autocatalytically attached BV in vitro, but was plagued by poor BV binding in cells. From this experience, we hypothesized that the disparity between brightness in vitro vs in cells is caused by inefficient BV incorporation into existing scaffolds. In Chapter 3, we developed an experimental method to measure the fraction of BV-bound FP out of mammalian cells and found that chromophorylation in these scaffolds is inefficient and can help explain the disparity between cellular and molecular brightness. Through mathematical modeling, we explore the parameters that contribute to this inefficiency. Finally, in Chapter 4, we developed a new NIR-FP based off a bilin lyase protein, a novel scaffold that we hypothesized would have high chromophorylation due to its role as a chaperone protein responsible for bilin attachment in cyanobacteria. Our engineered bilin lyase binds biliverdin and fluoresces in mammalian cells, and future engineering work will focus on turning this scaffold into a viable FP
