Effect of Mg Doping on the Structural and Optical Properties of CdS Nanoparticles Synthesized by co-Precipitation Method

    Get PDF
Cd1 – xMgxS (x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20) nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method for the first time. Compositional, morphological, structural and optical studies of the as prepared samples were carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDAX), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and Photoluminescence (PL) techniques. XRD studies revealed the structural phase transition from cubic to hexagonal and increase in the average grain size of the nanoparticles (lie in the range 1.4 nm to 2.8 nm) with increasing Mg content. EDAX spectra rules out the existence of impurities in the samples. Bandgap widening was observed in all the samples compared to bulk CdS (2.42 eV). Decrease in bandgap (3.02 eV to 2.54 eV), luminescence quenching and red shift of luminescence peak position were observed with increasing Mg in Cd1 – xMgxS. In this paper the term, left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal, maximal left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal, left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T generated by a set A, principal left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal generated by an element a left (lateral, right and two sided) simple PO-ternary semiring are introduced. It is proved that (1) the non-empty intersection of any two left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of a PO-ternary semiring T is a left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T. (2) non-empty intersection of any family of left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of a POternary semiring T is a left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T. (3) the union of any left PO-ternary ideals of a PO-ternary semiring T is a left PO-ternary ideal of T. (4) the union of any family of left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of a PO-ternary semiring T is a left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T. (5) The left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of a PO-ternary semiring T generated by a non-empty subset A is the intersection of all left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of T containing A. (6) If T is a PO-ternary semiring and a∈T then L(a) =  (Te Tea + na] = (Te Tea U na] (M(a) = (Tea Te + TeTe aTeTe + na] = ( Tea Te U TeTe aTeTe U na], R (a) = (aTe Te + na ] = (aTe Te U na] and T(a) = (Te Tea + aTe Te + TeTe aTeTe +na] = (Te Tea UaTe Te UTeTe aTeTe Una]). (7) A PO-ternary semiring T is a left(lateral, right) simple PO-ternary semiring if and only if (TTa] = T ((TaT U TTaTT] = T, (aTT] = T) for all a∈T

Present status and future scope for fish production in cages and enclosures in India

    Get PDF
The paper highlights the role of intensive fish husbandry system in cages and enclosures in the overall fisheries development of the country. This system of fish culture in widely dispersed aquatic ecosystems in India has yielded stimulating results, though there are some immediate constraints. The pressing problems of cage size, shape and material, diseases and parasites, and location of operational sites have been discussed. Such intensive culture systems have numerous advantages over the traditional pond culture. It 15 conduded that cage and enclosure culture of fifish and shellfish will ultimately carve its niche in the streams, rivers, canals, heels, lakes, reservoirs, estuaries, lagoons, bays and coastal areas of the country

Characterization of 1-3 piezoelectric polymer composites -- a numerical and analytical evaluation procedure for thickness mode vibrations

    Get PDF
Biomedical transducers widely employ piezoceramic polymer composites with 1-3 connectivity. The research is aimed at determining the effective material properties of these composites in the micrometer scale by simulation. Volume fraction of piezoceramic in the composite plays an important role in composite material properties as studied by several researchers. It is also noted that the fiber aspect ratio (a/l) also affects the composite material properties. Therefore it is intended to determine the effective material properties both analytically and by simulation using computer simulation software program ANSYS which implements finite element method (FEM). In the present work piezoelectric fiber composites are modeled, analyzed and then the results are verified by using analytical equations. Important conclusions are drawn to select the piezocomposite materials for transducer applications

From chiral vibration to static chirality in ^{135}Nd

Electromagnetic transition probabilities have been measured for the intra- and inter-band transitions in the two sequences in the nucleus ^{135}Nd that were previously identified as a composite chiral pair of rotational bands. The measurements are in good agreement with results of a new combination of TAC and RPA calculations. The chiral character of the bands is affirmed and it is shown that their behavior is associated with a transition from a vibrational into a static chiral regime.Comment: Accepted for publication in the Physical Review Letters. Astrophysical S_{17}(0) factor from a measurement of d(7Be,8B)n reaction at E_{c.m.} = 4.5 MeV

Angular distribution measurements of 2^2H(7^7Be,7^7Be)2^2H and 2^2H(7^7Be,8^8B)nn reactions at Ec.m.E_{c.m.}\sim~4.5 MeV were performed to extract the astrophysical S17(0)S_{17}(0) factor using the asymptotic normalization coefficient (ANC) method. For this purpose a pure, low emittance 7^7Be beam was separated from the primary 7^7Li beam by a recoil mass spectrometer operated in a novel mode. A beam stopper at 0^{\circ} allowed the use of a higher 7^7Be beam intensity. Measurement of the elastic scattering in the entrance channel using kinematic coincidence, facilitated the determination of the optical model parameters needed for the analysis of the transfer data. The present measurement significantly reduces errors in the extracted 7^7Be(p,γ\gamma) cross section using the ANC method. We get S17S_{17}~(0)~=~20.7~±\pm~2.4 eV~b.Comment: 15 pages including 3 eps figures, one figure removed and discussions updated. Version to appear in Physical Review
