Viktor Astafyev was an outstanding Russian writer and a representative  of ”village prose”. In his oeuvre, along with works on the question of “man and nature”, we may find numerous important works concerning the subject of war. Astafyev fought in WWII, which left him with some unhealed wounds. In his novels about this 'Great Patriotic War', the dominating pacifist humanism triggered the first depiction of German soldiers through the prism of Christian mercy in Russian literature. The attempt to analyze the novel The Cursed and the Slain is very relevant in light of our present reality, full of news of new military conflicts, including that in eastern Ukraine

Region-specific and activity-dependent regulation of SVZ neurogenesis and recovery after stroke.

Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability. Neurogenesis after stroke is associated with repair; however, the mechanisms regulating poststroke neurogenesis and its functional effect remain unclear. Here, we investigate multiple mechanistic routes of induced neurogenesis in the poststroke brain, using both a forelimb overuse manipulation that models a clinical neurorehabilitation paradigm, as well as local manipulation of cellular activity in the peri-infarct cortex. Increased activity in the forelimb peri-infarct cortex via either modulation drives increased subventricular zone (SVZ) progenitor proliferation, migration, and neuronal maturation in peri-infarct cortex. This effect is sensitive to competition from neighboring brain regions. By using orthogonal tract tracing and rabies virus approaches in transgenic SVZ-lineage-tracing mice, SVZ-derived neurons synaptically integrate into the peri-infarct cortex; these effects are enhanced with forelimb overuse. Synaptic transmission from these newborn SVZ-derived neurons is critical for spontaneous recovery after stroke, as tetanus neurotoxin silencing specifically of the SVZ-derived neurons disrupts the formation of these synaptic connections and hinders functional recovery after stroke. SVZ-derived neurogenesis after stroke is activity-dependent, region-specific, and sensitive to modulation, and the synaptic connections formed by these newborn cells are functionally critical for poststroke recovery

Victor Astafiev, Valentin Rasputin and Vasiliy Shukshin are the representatives of a rural Russian prose. They all come from Siberia that has a great impact on their works. They wanted to save the rural spirit, hidden in the endless forests of the taiga, from the destructive influence of the urban culture. Ироническая оценка советской действительности в творческой биографии Oлега Григорьева

This text is an attempt to acquaint the reader with the writer’s biography of Oleg Grigoryev, a Russian poet and a representative of “the literary underground”. His works can be classified as urban folklore. Most of his poems are full of harsh irony, which may shock with its dark humour. Grigoryev often resorts to the poetics of the absurd, which may lead a keen reader to the conclusion that he is close to the creative actions of the poetic group of the Oberiuty with Daniil Kharms and Alexander Vvedenski as their main representatives. In this light, Grigoryev’s poetry can be interpreted as a reflection of the dark Soviet reality in which he lived and with which he struggled. Such an attitude surely did not help him in succeeding within the official Russian literature

РЕЦЕПЦІЯ ТВОРЧОСТІ СЕРГІЯ ЄСЕНІНА І НІКОЛАЯ КЛЮЄВА В УКРАЇНІ (КИЇВСЬКЕ НАУКОВЕ КОЛО КЛЮЄВОСЛОВ)

Sergei Yesenin and Nikolai Klyuev are the poets whose works have been analyzed numerous times, especially in recent years. These analyses were deprived of analytical and interpretative narrowness, which resulted from censorship in the past. It should be emphasized that in Russia and other countries in the world the works by Yesenin were more often published than the works by Klyuev which disappeared because of ideological reasons for a few decades. Klyuev began to be mentioned after Stalin’s death and he was often accompanied by Yesenin. The older poet was presented in a bad light as a representative of kulak poetry and the one who hindered creative development of his follower. In this context critical literary works by Ukrainian researchers are presented in an interesting way because these people made an important contribution to the study of Russian “new peasant” poetry.Сергій Єсенін і Ніколай Клюєв – це поети, творчість яких дочекалася, особливо в останніх роках, численних опрацювань, позбавлених аналітичної та інтерпретаційної вузькості, що була у минулому наслідком надмірної запопадливості цензури. Належить підкреслити, що у видавничому обігу Росії та інших країн з’являлося радше прізвище Єсеніна, тоді як прізвище Клюєва, з чисто ідеологічного приводу, зникло з читацької рецепції на кілька десятиліть. Про нього почали говорити лише після смерті Сталіна, найчастіше, однак, коли займалися творчістю Єсеніна. Старший поет був представле- ний у негативному світлі, як представник кулацької поезії і як той, що утрудняє своєму учневі творчий розвиток. Інтерес у цьому контексті становлять літературно-критичні праці українських дослідників, які зробили великий внесок в науку про російську „новомужицьку” поезію.Сергій Єсенін і Ніколай Клюєв – це поети, творчість яких дочекалася, особливо в останніх роках, численних опрацювань, позбавлених аналітичної та інтерпретаційної вузькості, що була у минулому наслідком надмірної запопадливості цензури.
