Broadband RCS Reduction of Microstrip Patch Antenna Using Bandstop Frequency Selective Surface
In this article, a simple and effective approach is presented to reduce the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of microstrip patch antenna in ultra broad frequency band. This approach substitutes a metallic ground plane of a conventional patch antenna with a hybrid ground consisting of bandstop Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) cells with partial metallic plane. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach, the influence of different ground planes on antenna’s performance is investigated. Thus, a patch antenna with miniaturized FSS cells is proposed. The results suggest that this antenna shows 3dB RCS reduction almost in the whole out-of operating band within 1-20GHz for wide incident angles when compared to conventional antenna, while its radiation characteristics are sustained simultaneously. The reasonable agreement between the measured and the simulated results verifies the efficiency of the proposed approach. Moreover, this approach doesn’t alter the lightweight, low-profile, easy conformal and easy manufacturing nature of the original antenna and can be extended to obtain low-RCS antennas with metallic planes in broadband that are quite suitable for the applications which are sensitive to the variation of frequencies

A Body-Nonlinear Green's Function Method with Viscous Dissipation Effects for Large-Amplitude Roll of Floating Bodies
A novel time-domain body-nonlinear Green’s function method is developed for evaluating large-amplitude roll damping of two-dimensional floating bodies with consideration of viscous dissipation effects. In the method, the instantaneous wetted surface of floating bodies is accurately considered, and the viscous dissipation effects are taken into account based on the “fairly perfect fluid” model. As compared to the method based on the existing inviscid body-nonlinear Green’s function, the newly proposed method can give a more accurate damping coefficient of floating bodies rolling on the free surface with large amplitudes according to the numerical tests and comparison with experimental data for a few cases related to ship hull sections with bilge keels
Nuclear modification factor in intermediate-energy heavy-ion collisions
The transverse momentum dependent nuclear modification factors (NMF), namely
, is investigated for protons produced in Au + Au at 1 GeV within
the framework of the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model.
It is found that the radial collective motion during the expansion stage
affects the NMF at low transverse momentum a lot. By fitting the transverse
mass spectra of protons with the distribution function from the Blast-Wave
model, the magnitude of radial flow can be extracted. After removing the
contribution from radial flow, the can be regarded as a thermal one
and is found to keep unitary at transverse momentum lower than 0.6 GeV/c and
enhance at higher transverse momentum, which can be attributed to Cronin
effect.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures; aceepted by Physics Letters
Pion-photon and photon-pion transition form factors in light-cone formalism
We derive the minimal Fock-state expansions of the pion and the photon wave
functions in light-cone formalism, then we calculate the pion-photon and the
photon-pion transition form factors of and
processes by employing these
quark-antiquark wave functions of the pion and the photon. We find that our
calculation for the transition form factor
agrees with the experimental data at low and moderately high energy scale.
Moreover, the physical differences and inherent connections between the
transition form factors of and have been illustrated, which indicate that these
two physical processes are intrinsically related. In addition, we also discuss
the form factor and the decay width at .Comment: 20 pages, 2 figure
Heavy quarkonium 2S states in light-front quark model
We study the charmonium 2S states and , and the bottomonium
2S states and , using the light-front quark model and the
2S state wave function of harmonic oscillator as the approximation of the 2S
quarkonium wave function. The decay constants, transition form factors and
masses of these mesons are calculated and compared with experimental data.
Predictions of quantities such as Br are made. The
2S wave function may help us learn more about the structure of these heavy
quarkonia.Comment: 5 latex pages, final version for journal publicatio
