Detecting Happiness in Italian Tweets: Towards an Evaluation Dataset for Sentiment Analysis in Felicittà

This paper focuses on the development of a gold standard corpus for the validation of Felicitta, an online platform which uses Twitter as data source in order to estimate and interactively display the degree of happiness in the Italian cities. The ultimate goal is the creation of an Italian reference Twitter dataset for sentiment analysis that can be used in several frameworks aimed at detecting sentiment from big data sources. We will provide an overview of the reference corpus created for evaluating Felicitta, with a special focus on the issues ` raised from its development, on the inter-annotator agreement discussion and on implications for the further development of the corpus, considering that the assumption that a single right answer exists for each annotated instance cannot be done in several cases in the particular kind of data at issue

SADI-S with Extended Duodeno-Bulb Preservation: Case Report

Obesity has been growing in Brazil and in the world. It is reaching epidemic proportions, and bariatric surgery is the most effective treatment for patients with this disease. Among the procedures described in the literature, ileal surgeries such as biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD-DS) and single-anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S) present better long-term results in terms of weight loss and comorbidities control. However, there are concerns regarding long term nutritional problems with these procedures. In this case report the aim is to demonstrate the technical feasibility of preserving an extended duodenal bulb segment, in the SADIS-S procedure, when there are difficulties in dissecting the retrobulbar region, as occurred here, due to fibrosis in this area. This assures the maintenance of the proposed surgical technique, in such a situation. The dissection and transection of the duodenum was done 7 cm distally to the pylorus, under endoscopic view, proximally to the papillae, where the tissue was normal. Additionally, due the importance of the duodenal mucosa on minerals and trace elements absorption and the release of important hormones in this region, this case report elicits the evaluation of the impact of this technical modification, which occurred casually, in the nutritional, hormonal and metabolic results, long term. In this case report, the extended duodenal length has demonstrated reasonable weight loss, adequate comorbidities control and good nutritional status, so far. L’abilità di Decision Making dello studente infermiere e la soddisfazione degli utenti: l’esperienza del Corso di Laurea in Infermieristica di Torino

Introduction. The objectives of a clinic stage were to measure the ability of Decision Making in the 3rd year students before and after stage, where structured educational and tutorial strategies were adopted and to evaluate the level of satisfaction perceived by hospitalized patients. Materials and methods. The study presented is quasi-experimental pre-post. The sample consisted of 14 students of the 3rd year who were asked to produce six clinical cases, for a total of 84 planning assistance both before and after the clinical stage. During the stage clinical case discussions led by the tutor, briefing and debriefing sessions once a week were conducted and the nursing care has been delivered on care plans constructed by the students. The assessment of the degree of user satisfaction was performed using the Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scales questionnaire, administered both during the internship of students, that in a later date. Results. Students have shown an increase from 19% to 69% in the ability to recognize the priority issues in the post-test as well as relevant interventions, which have grown from 24 to 33%. The related factors and defining characteristics are improved at the limit of statistical significance. Patients were fully satisfied by the students support they received during the clinic stage, but also by the standard care delivered during their absence. Conclusions. The educational and tutorial strategies experienced seem to be significantly related to the ability of Decision Making. The place of training for nursing students has proven to be an effective model of care

Measurement of Aerosols at the Pierre Auger Observatory

The air fluorescence detectors (FDs) of the Pierre Auger Observatory are vital for the determination of the air shower energy scale. To compensate for variations in atmospheric conditions that affect the energy measurement, the Observatory operates an array of monitoring instruments to record hourly atmospheric conditions across the detector site, an area exceeding 3,000 square km. This paper presents results from four instruments used to characterize the aerosol component of the atmosphere: the Central Laser Facility (CLF), which provides the FDs with calibrated laser shots; the scanning backscatter lidars, which operate at three FD sites; the Aerosol Phase Function monitors (APFs), which measure the aerosol scattering cross section at two FD locations; and the Horizontal Attenuation Monitor (HAM), which measures the wavelength dependence of aerosol attenuation.Comment: Contribution to the 30th International Cosmic Ray Conference, Merida Mexico, July 2007; 4 pages, 4 figure
