Generating Non-Linear Interpolants by Semidefinite Programming
Interpolation-based techniques have been widely and successfully applied in
the verification of hardware and software, e.g., in bounded-model check- ing,
CEGAR, SMT, etc., whose hardest part is how to synthesize interpolants. Various
work for discovering interpolants for propositional logic, quantifier-free
fragments of first-order theories and their combinations have been proposed.
However, little work focuses on discovering polynomial interpolants in the
literature. In this paper, we provide an approach for constructing non-linear
interpolants based on semidefinite programming, and show how to apply such
results to the verification of programs by examples.Comment: 22 pages, 4 figure
Teste De Caminhada De Seis Minutos: Desempenho De CrianÇas Com Excesso De Peso
The six-minute walk test (6MWT) has been used to evaluate exercise functional capacity in children. Objective: To compare the performance in six-minute walk test in schoolchildren aged 8 to 10 years, according to nutritional classification based on two different criteria. Methods: The sample of 226 children aged 8 to 10 years was divided into three groups (eutrophic, overweight, and obese), according to the criteria of nutritional classification proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and by the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF) and assessed by the six-minute walk test. Results: The prevalence of overweight and obesity in the sample was 42.48% according to the WHO criteria and 38.94% according to the IOTF criteria. There were no statistically significant differences between the groups eutrophic, overweight, and obese, when the results of the 6MWT were compared, both in the distance covered and in the percentage predicted for children, according to the reference values, and accordin to the two criteria of nutritional classification. The final heart rate of the test was statistically higher in the overweight or obese groups, both by the WHO criteria (p=0.0015) and by the IOTF criteria (p=0.0160). Conclusions: In the studied sample, there was no difference in the performance of the 6MWT among eutrophic, overweight, and obese children. However, the final heart rate test was significantly higher among overweight children. The results emphasize that prevention, monitoring and treatment measures are necessary, promoting healthy habits. © 2017, Redprint Editora Ltda. All rights reserved.23214214
Oscillating Solitons Pinned to a Nonmagnetic Impurity in Layered Antiferromagnets
We argue that an oscillatory motion of impurity-pinned solitons may occur in
layered antiferromagnetic compounds. The characteristic frequencies of these
modes, that may be detected by resonance or inelastic neutron scattering, are
estimated analytically and depend on the soliton sizes and types .Comment: 11 pages, 1 figur
Formalizing of Category Theory in Agda
The generality and pervasiness of category theory in modern mathematics makes
it a frequent and useful target of formalization. It is however quite
challenging to formalize, for a variety of reasons. Agda currently (i.e. in
2020) does not have a standard, working formalization of category theory. We
document our work on solving this dilemma. The formalization revealed a number
of potential design choices, and we present, motivate and explain the ones we
picked. In particular, we find that alternative definitions or alternative
proofs from those found in standard textbooks can be advantageous, as well as
"fit" Agda's type theory more smoothly. Some definitions regarded as equivalent
in standard textbooks turn out to make different "universe level" assumptions,
with some being more polymorphic than others. We also pay close attention to
engineering issues so that the library integrates well with Agda's own standard
library, as well as being compatible with as many of supported type theories in
Agda as possible
Bounded linear types in a resource semiring
Abstract. Bounded linear types have proved to be useful for automated resource analysis and control in functional programming languages. In this paper we introduce a bounded linear typing discipline on a general notion of resource which can be modeled in a semiring. For this type system we provide both a general type-inference procedure, parameter-ized by the decision procedure of the semiring equational theory, and a (coherent) categorical semantics. This could be a useful type-theoretic and denotational framework for resource-sensitive compilation, and it represents a generalization of several existing type systems. As a non-trivial instance, motivated by hardware compilation, we present a com-plex new application to calculating and controlling timing of execution in a (recursion-free) higher-order functional programming language with local store. 1 Resource-aware types and semantics The two important things about a computer program are what it computes an
Impact of global warming on beef cattle production cost in Brazil
Global warming is affecting agribusiness in its economic aspects. Therefore, the prediction of the evolution of Brazilian beef cattle production cost was made using the IPCC forecast scenario for global warming. The methodology consisted of two steps: (i) the development of a fuzzy model that estimated the grazing land capacity (RP) decrease risk as a function of the changes in the average total rain index, air temperature and increase in extension of the dry season; and (ii) the design of an algorithm for predicting the decrease in production as function of the RPfuzzy model, that results in the impact in beef cattle productivity, and consequent increase in production costs. Historical environmental data from important producing counties in the Cerrado were organized and a set of fuzzy Gaussian functions were developed, and three possible settings (optimistic, medium and pessimistic) were considered. The decrease in beef cattle productivity was estimated using the losses in production due to the increase in air temperature and vulnerability of pasture capacity. The boundary settings for the total increase of production cost scenario used the number of animals per area of grazing land, the adoption of grain supplement and its future scenario; and the result output function pointed to a threshold within a variation from an increase in production cost of 80% (optimistic) to 160% (pessimistic). Under the optimistic scenario the total cost of Brazilian beef cattle production in the Cerrado became near to US 4.16 kg-1, challenging the international competitiveness of this economic segment.O aquecimento global afeta o agronegócio em seus aspectos econômicos.
