Cosmological scenarios from multiquintessence

In this work we derive and analyse cosmological scenarios coming from multi-component scalar field models. We consider a direct sum of a sine-Gordon with a Z2 model, and also a combination of those with a BNRT model. Moreover, we work with a modified version of the BNRT model, which breaks the Z2 x Z2 symmetry of the original BNRT potential, coupled with the sine-Gordon and with the standard Z2 models. We show that our approach can be straightforwardly elevated to $N$ fields. All the computations are made analytically and some parameters restriction is put forward in order to get in touch with complete and realistic cosmological scenarios

Electrostatic self-force in (2+1)-dimensional cosmological gravity

The pasta phase within density dependent hadronic models

In the present paper we investigate the onset of the pasta phase with different parametrisations of the density dependent hadronic model and compare the results with one of the usual parametrisation of the non-linear Walecka model. The influence of the scalar-isovector virtual delta meson is shown. At zero temperature two different methods are used, one based on coexistent phases and the other on the Thomas-Fermi approximation. At finite temperature only the coexistence phases method is used. npe matter with fixed proton fractions and in beta-equilibrium are studied. We compare our results with restrictions imposed on the the values of the density and pressure at the inner edge of the crust, obtained from observations of the Vela pulsar and recent isospin diffusion data from heavy-ion reactions, and with predictions from spinodal calculations.Comment: 15 pages, 11 figures and 7 table

A LEITURA NOS ANOS FINAIS DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL: UM DIÁLOGO COM OS PROFESSORES E AS ATIVIDADES DE LEITURA REGISTRADAS EM CADERNOS ESCOLARES

Esta dissertação integra um conjunto de estudos da linha de pesquisa Educação e Linguagens do Programa de Pós-Graduação da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, particularmente está associado ao grupo de pesquisa Literatura e Educação. Com base nos pressupostos teóricos de Mikhail Bakhtin (2006; 2011), a pesquisa teve como objetivo central investigar concepções de linguagem e leitura em correlação com práticas dos professores atinentes à leitura. Metodologicamente, desenvolveu-se um estudo de caso de caráter qualitativo, com pesquisa de campo realizada em quatro escolas públicas da rede municipal de ensino de Pinheiros (ES). Como procedimentos e instrumentos de produção de dados, utilizamos aplicação e tabulamento de questionários, grupo focal composto por onze professores de Língua Portuguesa atuantes nos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental da rede com registros em áudio e escritos e tratamento documental de atividades de leitura registradas nos cadernos dos alunos dos anos finais do ensino fundamental. Para as análises, foram utilizadas as noções conceituais de práticas e representações, de Roger Chartier (1991), exotopia de Bakhtin (2006; 2011) e as contribuições de Geraldi (1997; 1998; 2013; 2014). A investigação buscou compreender como as concepções de linguagem e leitura dos professores se presentificam nas práticas de leitura propostas aos alunos dos anos finais. Os resultados da pesquisa nos permitiram conhecer as experiências leitoras dos professores, bem como suas representações em relação à leitura dentro e fora da escola. Constatamos que a maioria das estratégias mediadoras de leitura dos professores é ancorada em concepções de linguagem como expressão do pensamento e instrumento de comunicação e que são raras as práticas de leitura em que o texto é oferecido ao aluno numa visão de leitura como interação para produção de sentidos

The effect of medium composition on interleukin-2 production by murine EL-4 thymoma cells

Due to the role of interleukin-2 (IL-2) in the mediation of immune response, this cytokine has been used in the treatment of some types of cancer and infectious diseases. However, relatively high levels of this cytokine are required to achieve significant activity. The aim of this work was to study a culture medium composition designed to increase the production of IL-2 by suspended murine EL-4 cells. The cultivations were carried out aiming at producing IL-2 in stirred bioreactors. The effects of concentration of glutamine, phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA), concanavalin A (Con A), Pluronic F68, and fetal calf serum (FCS) on cell viability and IL-2 production were evaluated. PMA alone was more efficient in IL-2 production than it was in association with Con A. The maximum IL-2 production was around 162 ng/mL with 856 ng/mL PMA and 1.45% (v/v) FCS.16517
