Malacoplakia : case report in tongue and review of the literature
Malakoplakia is a relatively uncommon chronic inflammatory reaction of unknown etiology. It usually affects the genitourinary tract but may rarely involve the tongue. There are many theories that explain this reaction but it seems to be the answer to an infectious agent in a patient with immunologic deficiency. Microscopically, malakoplakia is characterized by the presence of foamy histiocytes with distinctive basophilic inclusions, which are known as MichaelisGutmann bodies due to a partially ingested bacteria and their posterior calcification. There are many alternatives to treat this entity. We report the only case diagnosed in the tongue, in a 15 years-old male in the Maxillofacial Surgery and Stomatology Service of the Hospital San Vicente de PaĂșl in MedellĂn, Antioquia, Colombia
Experiments on enlarging a lexical ontology
This paper presents two simple experiments performed in order
to enlarge the coverage of PULO, a Lexical Ontology, based and
aligned with the Princeton WordNet.
The first experiment explores the
triangulation of the Galician, Catalan and Castillian wordnets,
with translation dictionaries from the Apertium project. The second,
explores DicionĂĄrio-Aberto entries, in order to extract synsets from
its definitions. Although similar approaches were already applied for
different languages, this document aims at documenting
their results for the PULO case
Monososomy 1p36: A clinically recognizable syndrome
DismorfologĂa, CitogenĂ©tica y ClĂnica: Resultados sobre los datos del ECEMCPure 1p36 deletion is considered a new delineated syndrome that probably is a contiguous gene syndrome, presenting a pattern of clinical manifestation that may be recognizable. This includes moderate to severe psychomotor retardation, hypotonia, microcephaly, postnatal growth retardation, seizures and craniofacial dysmorphism (deep set eyes, low nasal bridge, large anterior fontanelle, midface hypoplasia) which should lead to perform a chromosomal study particularly focussed on this type of deletion. Terminal region 1p is difficult to visualize and its alterations will only be detected in a High Resolution G-band karyotype, followed by Fluorescence in situ Hybridization techniques (FISH).
Here we present a case which was diagnosed as having a 1p36.22 deletion with High Resolution G-band karyotype confirmed by telomeric
FISH.N
Characteristic Evolution and Matching
I review the development of numerical evolution codes for general relativity
based upon the characteristic initial value problem. Progress in characteristic
evolution is traced from the early stage of 1D feasibility studies to 2D
axisymmetric codes that accurately simulate the oscillations and gravitational
collapse of relativistic stars and to current 3D codes that provide pieces of a
binary black hole spacetime. Cauchy codes have now been successful at
simulating all aspects of the binary black hole problem inside an artificially
constructed outer boundary. A prime application of characteristic evolution is
to extend such simulations to null infinity where the waveform from the binary
inspiral and merger can be unambiguously computed. This has now been
accomplished by Cauchy-characteristic extraction, where data for the
characteristic evolution is supplied by Cauchy data on an extraction worldtube
inside the artificial outer boundary. The ultimate application of
characteristic evolution is to eliminate the role of this outer boundary by
constructing a global solution via Cauchy-characteristic matching. Progress in

Models of Star-Planet Magnetic Interaction
Magnetic interactions between a planet and its environment are known to lead
to phenomena such as aurorae and shocks in the solar system. The large number
of close-in exoplanets that were discovered triggered a renewed interest in
magnetic interactions in star-planet systems. Multiple other magnetic effects
were then unveiled, such as planet inflation or heating, planet migration,
planetary material escape, and even modification of the host star properties.
We review here the recent efforts in modelling and understanding magnetic
interactions between stars and planets in the context of compact systems. We
first provide simple estimates of the effects of magnetic interactions and then
detail analytical and numerical models for different representative scenarii.
We finally lay out a series of future developments that are needed today to

Therapeutic applications of curcumin nanomedicine formulations in cardiovascular diseases
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) compromises a group of heart and blood vessels disorders with high impact on human health and wellbeing. Curcumin (CUR) have demonstrated beneficial effects on these group of diseases that represent a global burden with a prevalence that continues increasing progressively. Pre- and clinical studies have demonstrated the CUR effects in CVD through its anti-hypercholesterolemic and anti-atherosclerotic effects and its protective properties against cardiac ischemia and reperfusion. However, the CUR therapeutic limitation is its bioavailability. New CUR nanomedicine formulations are developed to solve this problem. The present article aims to discuss different studies and approaches looking into the promising role of nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems to deliver CUR and its derivatives in CVD treatment, with an emphasis on their formulation properties, experimental evidence, bioactivity, as well as challenges and opportunities in developing these systems.This work was supported by CONICYT PIA/APOYO CCTE AFB170007.
