WHITE-NECKED HAWK (AMADONASTUR LACERNULATUS) FEEDING ON AMPHISBAENIDAE

    Get PDF
The White-necked Hawk (Amadonastur lacernulatus) is an Atlantic Forest endemic bird of prey with a poorly known diet. Here, we describe three different predatory interactions between White-necked Hawks and worm lizards (Amphisbaenidae) from Ubatuba, São Paulo, Brazil. During these events, hawks were recorded grasping, killing and consuming amphisbaenids. Due to their fossorial life, worm lizards are uncommon prey items for most birds of prey and such predator-prey interaction can be related to flooded amphisbaenians galleries after heavy rain episodes. To our knowledge, this is the first report of White-necked Hawks preying on amphisbaenids

Two element phased array dipole antenna on finite EBG ground plane

    Get PDF
Two element phased array dipole antenna backed by finite EBG ground plane is proposed for the directional antenna. Two dipole element is fed with 90 degree phase difference. In the numerical analysis, the electromagnetic simulator WIPL-D based on the Method of Moment is used. The size of EBG ground plane is fixed to one wavelength by one wavelength at the design frequency of 2.45 GHz. The relation between the front-to-back ratio and the parameters of EBG ground plane is discussed. The maximum front-to-back ratio of 24 dB is obtained.ACES-2007, March 19-23, 2007, Verona, Ital

Molecular cloning of a cDNA encoding human ribosomal protein L39

    Get PDF
A cDNA clone encoding a human ribosomal protein L39 (hRPL39) was isolated through a random cDNA sequencing approach to a cDNA library constructed from a human colon carcinoma cell line of COLO 205. Although levels of hRPL39 mRNA were different in several cell lines including carcinoma cell lines from different tissues, they were shown not to be cell cycle-dependent in a human fibroblast cell line of TIG-1

Human calgizzarin ; one colorectal cancer-related gene selected by a large scale random cDNA sequencing and Northern blot analysis

    Get PDF
A cDNA library was constructed from COLO 205 and 1056 clones randomly selected from this library were partially sequenced. Two hundred and two (38.4%) out of 526 independent genes had more than 80% similarity to the genes reported in GenBank. In Northern blot analysis, 96 out of 98 genes were shown to be expressed at the same level in colon and lung carcinoma cell lines and control fibroblasts. Only two clones, including human synovial phospholipase A-2 and a homologue to rabbit calgizzarin, were expressed at different levels among these cell lines. The full sequence of human calgizzarin was determined and its expression was remarkably elevated in colorectal cancers compared with that in normal colorectal mucosa

The probe-fed truncated square patch microstrip antenna is calculated by using WIPL-D based on the method of moment, Micro-Stripes based on TLM method and Fidelty based on FDTD method. Its input impedance and radiation characteristics are compared and discussed.ACES-2004, April 19-23, 2004, Syracuse, N

Two element phased array dipole antenna

    Get PDF
Two element array of dipole antennas with 90 degree phase difference feed is proposed for directional antenna applications. In the numerical analysis, the electromagnetic simulator WIPL-D based on the method of moment is used. At first, the distance between the two elements is fixed to be a quarter wavelengths at the design frequency of 2.45 GHz. The front-to-back ratio is calculated. Then, by adjusting the length of the two elements and the distance between the two elements, a front-to-back ratio of 15.3 dB is obtained. The relation between the front-to-back ratio of this antenna and the feed point currents is discussed. The measured input impedance with 90 degree hybrid phase shifter agrees with the calculated result

The developmental feature of the sleep problems in adolescence : The approach for the application to educational stage

    Get PDF
To clarify the actual feature of the sleep problems in adolescence from the points of view sleep loss, circadian rhythm, and development, the survey for five years was performed on 523 students in a College of Technology. The survey results were analyzed in regard to the Sleep Habits Scales and the Life Habits Scales. These scales were (1) Long sleeper-Short sleeper, (2) Good sleeper-Poor sleeper, (3) Sleep phase advanced type-Sleep phase delayed type, (4) Morningness-Eveningness, (5) Regnlar sleeper-Irregular sleeper, (6) Sleep satisfaction type-Sleep dissatisfaction type. Sleep length was shortened with advancements in grade. The irregularity and the delay of sleep phase increased with advancements in grade. Furthermore, approximately 5-10 percents of each grade student were screened as the persons who had some sleep disturbances or sleep problems. The present results suggest that the sleep problems (irregularity and phase delay) of adolescence apt to increase with advancements in grade

The inverted-F antenna on side of rectangular conducting plate of 182mm by 18mm is analyzed by using WIPL-D and IE3D based on the method of moment. This antenna is located in the vicinity of the B5-sized conducting plate. The numerical results by both simulators are compared.ACES-2003, March 24-28, 2003, Monterey, Californi
