Este documento sistematiza y sintetiza el seminario-taller llevado a cabo para elaborar un resumen reflexivo de la visita realizaa a El Salvador y México, haciendo énfasis en la experiencia mexicana; tocándose el caso de El Salvador de manera breve, haciéndose hincapié en los procesos de negociación a los que estuvo sujeta la firma del acuerdo, atendiendo al diseño de un tratado que garantice una mayor prosperidad para el sector rural. Agricultural Employment in Russia 1990–2003

The transition from plan to market during the 1990s radically changed the agricultural employment patterns in Russia. The number of employed in large corporate farms (former kolkhozes and sovkhozes) declined dramatically, and rural labour shifted in large numbers to individual farming, including traditional household plots and emerging peasant farms. Household plots are becoming increasingly polarized between commercially oriented operations, which may employ some hired help, and subsistence operations, which continue to provide a safety net and employment of last resort to the rural population. The article describes the magnitude and the consequences of these transition-related changes and develops some policy recommendations. Brazil and China in Mozambican Agriculture: Emerging Insights from the Field

Submitted version of Bulletin articleMozambique, a country undergoing rapid transformations driven by the recent discovery of mineral resources, is one of the top destinations of Chinese and Brazilian cooperation and investment in Africa. This article provides an account of the policies, narratives, operational modalities and underlying motivations of Brazilian and Chinese development cooperation in Mozambique. It is particularly interested in understanding how the engagements are perceived and talked about, what drives them and what formal and informal relations are emerging at the level of particular exchanges. The article draws on three cases (i) ProSavana, Brazil‟s current flagship programme in Mozambique, which aims to transform the country's savanna spreading along the Nacala corridor, drawing on Brazil‟s own experience in the Cerrado; (ii) the Chinese Agricultural Technology Demonstration Centre (ATDC) and (iii) a private Chinese rice investment project in the Xai-Xai irrigation scheme, which builds on a technical cooperation initiative.
