Study of the response of CFRP composite laminates to a laser-induced shock

Laser-induced shock yields to a local tensile stress within a sample. This high strain rate stress can be used to verify the bond strength between two layers. This method has been applied to Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composite laminates, involved in aeronautic or defense industry. Experiments have been carried out on high power laser facility in the nanosecond regime. A velocimetry interferometer has been used to record the material velocity at the back surface of the samples. This study provides a comprehensive approach of the response of CFRP laminates of different thicknesses to a shock load normal to the fibres direction. The stress waves generation and propagation within the laminate and the induced delamination are key issues of this work. The main result is the ability of the technique to evaluate the out-of-plane strength of these laminate

La question de l'archivage des données de la recherche en SHS (Sciences Humaines et Sociales)

Aujourd'hui les données de la recherche sont produites nativement sous forme numérique ou proviennent de la numérisation de données analogiques. Paradoxalement, le numérique dissociant l'information de son support, il se révèle plus complexe à gérer et la prise de conscience de la difficulté à pérenniser cette nouvelle forme d'information est très récente. Dans le cadre de la mise en place d'une infrastructure pour les Sciences Humaines et Sociales par la TGIR Huma-Num, une organisation s'appuyant sur les ressources du CINES (Centre Informatique National de l'Enseignement Supérieur) a été mise en place pour assurer l'archivage à long terme des données produites dans ce domaine. A la suite d'une première étude, un projet pilote a porté sur les données orales jugées représentatives des différents cas de figure pouvant se présenter dans les SHS. Ce projet pilote s'est déroulé sur une période de deux ans et a nécessité une évolution du système d'archivage numérique du CINES afin de prendre en compte les spécificités métier des SHS. Parallèlement, un travail de coordination a été effectué avec le SIAF (Service Interministériel des Archives de France) pour tenir compte des aspects propres au statut d'archives publiques de ces données. L'organisation mise en place durant le projet pilote, conformément au modèle OAIS (Open Archival Information System - norme ISO 14721), est dorénavant opérationnel et représente un cas original d'archivage des données de la recherche en SHS

A Comprehensive Review of the Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacokinetics, and Clinical Effects of the Neutral Endopeptidase Inhibitor Racecadotril

Racecadotril, via its active metabolite thiorphan, is an inhibitor of the enzyme neutral endopeptidase (NEP, EC 3.4.24.11), thereby increasing exposure to NEP substrates including enkephalins and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP). Upon oral administration racecadotril is rapidly and effectively converted into the active metabolite thiorphan, which does not cross the blood–brain-barrier. Racecadotril has mainly been tested in animal models and patients of three therapeutic areas. As an analgesic the effects of racecadotril across animal models were inconsistent. In cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension or congestive heart failure results from animal studies were promising, probably related to increased exposure to ANP, but clinical results have not shown substantial therapeutic benefit over existing treatment options in cardiovascular disease. In contrast, racecadotril was consistently effective in animal models and patients with various forms of acute diarrhea by inhibiting pathologic (but not basal) secretion from the gut without changing gastro-intestinal transit time or motility. This included studies in both adults and children. In direct comparative studies with loperamide in adults and children, racecadotril was at least as effective but exhibited fewer adverse events in most studies, particularly less rebound constipation. Several guidelines recommend the use of racecadotril as addition to oral rehydration treatment in children with acute diarrhea
