The investments of Turkish entrepreneurs to other countries increased in the 1990s. This paper explores Turkish FDI abroad focusing on the factors influencing the FDI decision and location choice, using micro data collected from investor firms. A micro level data set for the Turkish FDI abroad is constructed using the information gathered through questionnaires conducted at some selected firms, which have engaged in FDI abroad. The data is explored using statistical and econometric techniques by grouping the countries based on their geographical location. Among the factors that determine the location choice of investors access to consumers and suppliers, market penetration; the presence of Turkish firms and Turkish population, and similarity to Turkey; trade opportunities and preferential trade agreements; together with labour costs and availability of skilled workers affect the location choice of Turkish transnationals. Key words: outward foreign direct investment, location choice, Turke

Objective In this study, we aimed to investigate the correlation between serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) concentrations and blood pressure levels by comparing serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) concentrations in preeclamptic and normotensive pregnant women and to assess its potential role in the preeclampsia pathogenesis. Methods A total of 48 preeclamptic and 39 normotensive patients were included in the study prospectively. Systolic diastolic and mean arterial blood pressure of the pregnant women were measured. Serum BNP concentrations were measured by enzyme immunoassay method. The variable differences between the groups were analyzed by independent samples t-test. Potential correlations between the variables were assessed by Pearson’s correlation analysis. Results There was no difference between the groups in terms of age (26.18±11.49 years vs. 26.04±14.06 years), gestational age (31.59± 6.94 weeks vs. 30.17±5.72 weeks), parity (2.62±1.4 vs. 2.53±1.82) and body mass index (30.71±16.33 kg/m2 vs. 30.09±13.82 kg/m2) (p>0.05). Systolic (148.66± 61.82 mmHg vs. 126.44±97.47 mmHg; p=0.015), diastolic (81.19±52.25 mmHg vs. 97.29±14.27 mmHg; p=0.019) and mean arterial pressure (113.97±41.76 mmHg vs. 96.26±27.25 mmHg; p<0.001) levels were higher in the pregnant women complicated with preeclampsia. In addition, serum BNP concentrations were also higher in the preeclamptic pregnant women than the control group (139.42±62.19 pg/mL vs. 99.28±19.32 pg/mL; p=0.028). BNP levels were significantly associated with only mean arterial pressure (b=0.241, p=0.037). Also, there was a significant positive correlation between BNP levels and mean arterial pressure (r=0.406, p=0.002). Conclusion We recommend further prospective studies with wider populations to assess whether BNP levels, which increase in preeclampsia, are associated with blood pressure levels or not

Polatuzumab vedotin (Pola) with bendamustine and rituximab (BR) is a promising option for patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We analyzed the data of 71 R/R DLBCL patients who had been treated with Pola-BR in the named patient program from March 2018 to April 2021 from 32 centers in Turkey. All patients received up to six cycles of Pola 1.8 mg/kg, rituximab 375 mg/m2 on day 1, and bendamustine 90 mg/m2 on days 1–2 of each cycle. Median age at Pola-BR initiation was 55 (19–84). The overall response rate was 47.9%, including 32.4% CR rate when a median of 3 cycles was applied. With a median follow-up of 5 months, the median OS was 5 months. Grade 3–4 neutropenia and thrombocytopenia were the most common hematological toxicities. The real-world data from our cohort showed the Pola-BR is an effective option with a manageable toxicity profile

Studies on the organizational identity concept hasgained a considerableacceleration in the recent years while, organizational identity strength has beenexamined as a comparatively less studied aspect oforganizational identity. On theother side there are various studies which put forth the positive relation betweenorganizational justice perceptions(OJP) and organizational citizenship behavior(OCB). The aim of this study is to reveal the effects of organizational identitystrength(OIS) and OJP on the OCB. The sub-goal of the study is to present theimportance of OIS on the informal organizational behaviors. In this study, surveymethod has been conducted with 294 white-collar workers who work in Turkishpharmaceutical industry. Data taken by the questionnaires were analyzed usingSPSS 18.0 program. Hierarchical regression analysishas been implemented to putforward the independent variables’ effects on the dependent variable. Some of thehypothesis of the study has been accepted. The results also show that OIS has aconsiderable effect on the dimensions of OCB when compared to OJP

In the last decade, there has been an increasing trend in the use of agricultural wastes as reinforcements for high value-added composite materials as an ecological approach. In our previous study, a nonwoven fabric was produced from rice straw fibers. In this study, the previously obtained nonwoven reinforcement material and the polylactic acid (PLA) in granule form are used in the hot press process to produce new single- and double-layered biocomposite materials. The characterization of the obtained composite materials is made using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Fourier-Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) instrumental methods. The thermal conductivity and sound absorption properties of the materials are also investigated. The double-layer composite material has the highest sound absorption coefficient value, which is almost 0.99 while the single-layer material's is around 0.34. According to the thermal conductivity measurement results, the thermal conductivity of the single-layer composite material is 0.02564 W/m.K and that of the nonwoven material produced with rice straw which is 0.01618 W/m.K. The thermal conductivity of the single-layer composite material is approximately 50% higher than that of the nonwoven material. The single-layer composite material can be preferred in industrial insulation applications since the material with a low thermal conductivity coefficient is the best choice for thermal insulation purposes.Trakya University Scientific Research Projects Unit [2017/221]This work was supported by the Trakya University Scientific Research Projects Unit [2017/221]

Textile sector forms 11 per cent of the total production and 38 per cent of the exportation of Turkey. So,it is one of the most important industrial areas. At the same time it is the first sector in employement. When you look at it from this point of view, the importanceof Vocational Higher Educations which educate average grade skillful employees is big. With the cooperation of MEB(Turkish Ministry of Educat?on) and YÖK (Council of Higher Education) in 2002 ,in textile programmes, programme development Project gained its Standard form and is still being used. The Textile Higher Education programme Project consists of seven different branches, though can not answer the needs of the sector because of the developing technology and the globalization tendencies. Beside, the textile programme subjects which are given in the covarage of European Credit Transfer system ECTS ,turns out to be a discussion matter with the equivalent schools when compared with programmes applied in the equivalent schools abroad. The aim of this study is to revise the textile finishing programme subjects which is one of the seven different textile higher education programmes, considering ECTS criterias and the developments in todays Higher Educational System to offer changes and suggestions

    No full text
We aimed to investigate the effect of simulation-supported breastfeeding program given to women in pregnancy during the COVID-19 pandemic period on breastfeeding success, breastfeeding self-efficacy, and mother-infant attachment. They carried out this study 73 pregnant women who presented to the obstetrics and gynecology clinic of a hospital and were selected by using the simple random sampling method. The researchers used a quasi-experimental design in this study. After the simulation-supported breastfeeding program, they found that breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy were increased in the experimental group compared to the control group. The researchers were used the structural equation model, regression analysis, and independent samples t-test in the data analysis. The education given to pregnant women in this period when social interaction decreases becomes more important. Researchers are recommended that breastfeeding education should start in the antenatal period and continue in the postpartum period by using different education methods together. Simulation-supported breastfeeding program is a model that can be used to provide breastfeeding education for pregnant women in public health emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. With this program, the number of visits to the hospital for breastfeeding education will decrease, and more remote counseling will be provided
