    Experimental simulation of decoherence in photonics qudits

    We experimentally perform the simulation of open quantum dynamics in single-qudit systems. Using a spatial light modulator as a dissipative optical device, we implement dissipative-dynamical maps onto qudits encoded in the transverse momentum of spontaneous parametric down-converted photon pairs. We show a well-controlled technique to prepare entangled qudits states as well as to implement dissipative local measurements; the latter realize two specific dynamics: dephasing and amplitude damping. Our work represents a new analogy-dynamical experiment for simulating an open quantum system

    Experimental observation of fractional topological phases with photonic qudits

    Geometrical and topological phases play a fundamental role in quantum theory. Geometric phases have been proposed as a tool for implementing unitary gates for quantum computation. A fractional topological phase has been recently discovered for bipartite systems. The dimension of the Hilbert space determines the topological phase of entangled qudits under local unitary operations. Here we investigate fractional topological phases acquired by photonic entangled qudits. Photon pairs prepared as spatial qudits are operated inside a Sagnac interferometer and the two-photon interference pattern reveals the topological phase as fringes shifts when local operations are performed.     Tratamiento percutáneo del síndrome de hipertensión externa rotuliana. Liberación del retináculo lateral con cuchillo de Smillie

    El Síndrome de Hiperpresión Externa Rotuliana (SHER), es una causa de dolor de rodilla asociada a la luxación lateral, subluxación lateral y a la anormalidad del deslizamiento lateral sin subluxación, como patologías en las que la liberación del retináculo lateral puede ofrecerse como alternativa efectiva de tratamiento. Es conocido que existen tres vías con diferentes técnicas para la liberación del alerón rotuliano externo. Abierta, Artroscópica y Percutánea, siendo esta última la menos usada. En este estudio se realizaron 21 liberaciones del retináculo lateral, usando una técnica percutánea con cuhillo de Smillie, en 14 pacientes con diagnóstico de SHER, entre 1985 y 1996, de los cuales fueron 9 mujeres (64%) y 5 hombres (36%), con edades comprendidas entre los 15 y 30 años con un promedio de 21,5 años. Obtuvimos en 19 de las 21 rodillas resultados satisfactorios (buenos o muy buenos) para un 90,5% y en 2 rodillas (9,5%) resultados no satisfactorios (regulares o malos) con un seguimiento de 6 meses a 5 años. Concluimos que la liberación del retináculo lateral con cuchillo de Smillie, es una técnica que ofrece buenos resultados para el tratamiento del SHER.The Lateral Patellar Hiperpresion Syndrome (LPHS) is a common cause of pain at knee level. Many surgical approaches have been used, Open, Arthroscopical and Percutaneous, being this last the less frequently reported in the literature. In this study we report on 21 percutaneous liberation of lateral retinaculum using the Smillie meniscus knife on 14 patients with LPHS between 1985 and 1996. Nine were females (64%) and 5 males (36%), with an age ranging from 15 to 30 years with a mean age of 21.5 years. In" 19 of the 21 knees (90,5%) we obtained satisfactory results (good or very good) and 2 knees (95%) with unsatisfactory results fair or bad. The follow-up ranged from 6 months to 5 years. We conclude that the percutaneous release of lateral retinaculum with the Smillie knife offers good results in the treatment of LPHS

    Resumo: Estudos de adaptabilidade e estabilidade de genótipos são importantes nas fases finais de um programa de melhoramento para subsidiar a recomendação de novas cultivares. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a adaptabilidade e estabilidade produtiva de genótipos de feijão-caupi de portes ereto e semiereto nos estados de Minas Gerais e São Paulo. Foram avaliados 20 genótipos (16 linhagens e quatro cultivares) em seis ambientes, no biênio 2011-2012. Os ensaios foram conduzidos em delineamento de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições. Foram realizadas análises de variância conjunta e a adaptabilidade e a estabilidade dos genótipos foram analisadas pelo método de Lin e Bins modificado por Carneiro (1998). Observaram-se diferenças para os efeitos de ambientes e interação genótipo x ambiente. A linhagem MNC03-725F-3 apresenta ampla adaptabilidade e alta estabilidade aos ambientes avaliados de Minas Gerais e São Paulo, sendo também a mais adaptada a ambientes favoráveis, enquanto que a linhagem MNC02-675F-9-3, a mais adaptada a ambientes desfavoráveis

    Array-based comparative genomic hybridization has been assumed to be the first genetic test offered to detect genomic imbalances in patients with unexplained intellectual disability with or without dysmorphisms, multiple congenital anomalies, learning difficulties and autism spectrum disorders. Our study contributes to the genotype/phenotype correlation with the delineation of laboratory criteria which help to classify the different copy number variants (CNVs) detected.
