En marzo de 2017, Salud Colectiva fue distinguida con el Sello DOAJ, el cual significa un reconocimiento muy importante al esfuerzo por adoptar prácticas éticas y transparentes de publicación en acceso abierto. Pero ¿cuál es el origen de esta distinción y cuál es su relevancia en el actual contexto de publicación científica

Scientific Journals as Narrative Objects of the Sciences

Using a referential framework that integrates the hermeneutic philosophy of Hans-Georg Gadamer and Paul Ricœur, the critical theory of Herbert Marcuse and Jürgen Habermas, and the traditions of the history of the book and reading with the works of Roger Chartier and Martyn Lyons, among others, this essay aims to understand scientific journals as narrative objects of the sciences. These journals bring together communities that share common ways of interpreting the world and shape agreed-upon forms of narrating that common understanding. From this perspective, scientific journals interlace the rationality present in the conversations that occur in the narrative dimension with the conversations of their social environment. These conversations mutually influence one other, and in that dynamic converge both macro-social actions related to political, technical, economic, cultural, and/or religious dimensions, as well a series of mediating practices that operate at the micro-social level, linked to editorial knowledge, formal and informal channels of circulation, collaborative networks, and operational capacities, with the potential to legitimize, delegitimize, or even nullify the circulation of certain conversations

Práctica editorial contextualizada: Carlos Augusto Monteiro y la Revista de Saúde Pública

This text is part of a series of interviews that seek to explore diverse editing and publication experiences and the similar difficulties Latin America journals face, in order to begin to encounter contextualized solutions that articulate previously isolated efforts. In this interview, carried out in July 2015 in the Instituto de Salud Colectiva [Institute of Collective Health] of the Universidad Nacional de Lanús, Carlos Augusto Monteiro speaks to us about funding, work processes, technological innovations, and establishing teams and roles. Argentine open access scientific journals with international circulation: An analysis from Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory

Este trabajo analiza el modelo de acceso abierto implementado por las revistas científicas argentinas de circulación internacional, desde la teoría de los campos de Pierre Bourdieu. Para ello, se reconstruyó el conjunto de revistas científicas argentinas vigentes en abril de 2015, disponibles en Latindex Catálogo, el Núcleo Básico de Revistas Científicas Argentinas y en los servicios de indización DOAJ, Redalyc, Dialnet, SciELO Argentina, Scopus y Web of Science Core Collection y se aplicaron criterios elaborados ad hoc para establecer el subconjunto de revistas de acceso abierto y de circulación internacional. El modelo de acceso abierto implementado correspondía a la gradación más alta: apertura y gratuidad para los lectores, sin embargos temporales, sin cobro a los autores y sin retención de derechos de reproducción. Si bien el modelo es altamente inclusivo, la baja participación del campo económico en el entorno productivo científico-editorial se traduce en la falta de financiamiento de las revistas y en la exclusión del campo editorial. Cambiar el escenario actual requeriría no solo dependencias estatales que reconozcan la existencia del problema, sino grupos que se constituyan en actores sociales y que logren integrar e interpelar las diversas dimensiones del problema para poder disputar los recursos y las acciones políticas necesarias para abordarlo.This work analyzes the open access model adopted by Argentine scientific journals with international circulation from Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory. Changing the current scenario would require not only state agencies to recognize the existence of the problem, but that groups become social actors that can integrate and challenge the various dimensions of the problem to be able to dispute the resources and political actions necessary to address it

Desde nuestra perspectiva, las revistas científicas entretejen la racionalidad presente en las conversaciones que se dan en el plano narrativo con las conversaciones de su entorno social. Ambas conversaciones se retroalimentan, y en esa dinámica convergen tanto acciones macrosociales vinculadas a dimensiones políticas, técnicas, económicas, culturales y/o religiosas, como así también una serie de prácticas mediadoras que operan a nivel microsocial, vinculadas a saberes editoriales, canales formales e informales de circulación, redes de colaboración y capacidades operativas, que tienen la potencialidad de legitimar, deslegitimar o incluso anular la circulación de determinadas conversaciones
