    Electroweak Radiative Corrections To Polarized M{\o}ller Scattering Asymmetries

    One loop electroweak radiative corrections to left-right parity violating M{\o}ller scattering (e−e−→e−e−e^-e^-\to e^-e^-) asymmetries are presented. They reduce the standard model (tree level) prediction by 40±3\pm 3 \% where the main shift and uncertainty stem from hadronic vacuum polarization loops. A similar reduction also occurs for the electron-electron atomic parity violating interaction. That effect can be attributed to an increase of sin⁥2ΞW(q2)\sin^2\theta_W(q^2) by 3%3\% in running from q2=mZ2q^2=m_Z^2 to 0.     We present strong indirect evidence for the contribution of bosonic electroweak corrections in the Standard Model. Although important conceptually, these corrections give subleading contributions in current high energy experiments, and it was previously thought that they are difficult to detect.     Fermi Constants and ``New Physics''

    Various precision determinations of the Fermi constant are compared. Included are muon and (leptonic) tau decays as well as indirect prescriptions employing \alpha, m_Z, m_W, \ssthwmzms, \Gamma(Z\to\ell^+\ell^-), and Γ(Z→ΜΜˉ)\Gamma(Z \to \nu\bar \nu) as input. Their good agreement tests the standard model at the ±0.1\pm 0.1% level and provides stringent constraints on new physics. That utility is illustrated for: heavy neutrino mixing, 2 Higgs doublet models, S, T, and U parameters and excited W∗±W^{\ast^\pm} bosons (Kaluza-Klein excitations). For the last of those examples, m_{W^\ast}\gsims 2.9 TeV is found.Comment: 14 page

    Dynamical CP Violation in Composite Higgs Models

    The dynamical origin of the CP violation in electroweak theory is investigated in composite Higgs models. The mechanism of the spontaneous CP violation proposed in other context by Dashen is adopted to construct simple models of the dynamical CP violation.     A screening mechanism for extra W and Z gauge bosons

    We generalize a previous construction of a fermiophobic model to the case of more than one extra WW and ZZ gauge bosons. We focus in particular on the existence of screening configurations and their implication on the gauge boson mass spectrum. One of these configurations allows for the existence of a set of relatively light new gauge bosons, without violation of the quite restrictive bounds coming from the ρNC\rho_{\rm NC} parameter. The links with Bess and degenerate Bess models are also discussed. Also the signal given here by this more traditional gauge extension of the SM could help to disentangle it from the towers of Kaluza-Klein states over WW and ZZ gauge bosons in extra dimensions.Comment: 23 pages, 1 figure, extended discussion on precision tests.     Verifying the Kugo-Ojima Confinement Criterion in Landau Gauge Yang-Mills Theory

    Expanding the Landau gauge gluon and ghost two-point functions in a power series we investigate their infrared behavior. The corresponding powers are constrained through the ghost Dyson-Schwinger equation by exploiting multiplicative renormalizability. Without recourse to any specific truncation we demonstrate that the infrared powers of the gluon and ghost propagators are uniquely related to each other. Constraints for these powers are derived, and the resulting infrared enhancement of the ghost propagator signals that the Kugo-Ojima confinement criterion is fulfilled in Landau gauge Yang-Mills theory.Comment: 4 pages, no figures; version to be published in Physical Review Letter

    Many-nodes/many-links spinfoam: the homogeneous and isotropic case

    I compute the Lorentzian EPRL/FK/KKL spinfoam vertex amplitude for regular graphs, with an arbitrary number of links and nodes, and coherent states peaked on a homogeneous and isotropic geometry. This form of the amplitude can be applied for example to a dipole with an arbitrary number of links or to the 4-simplex given by the compete graph on 5 nodes. All the resulting amplitudes have the same support, independently of the graph used, in the large j (large volume) limit. This implies that they all yield the Friedmann equation: I show this in the presence of the cosmological constant. This result indicates that in the semiclassical limit quantum corrections in spinfoam cosmology do not come from just refining the graph, but rather from relaxing the large j limit.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure

    Minimal Trinification

    We study the trinified model, SU(3)_C x SU(3)_L x SU(3)_R x Z_3, with the minimal Higgs sector required for symmetry breaking. There are five Higgs doublets, and gauge-coupling unification results if all five are at the weak scale, without supersymmetry. The radiative see-saw mechanism yields sub-eV neutrino masses, without the need for intermediate scales, additional Higgs fields, or higher-dimensional operators. The proton lifetime is above the experimental limits, with the decay modes p -> \bar\nu K^+ and p -> \mu^+ K^0 potentially observable. We also consider supersymmetric versions of the model, with one or two Higgs doublets at the weak scale. The radiative see-saw mechanism fails with weak-scale supersymmetry due to the nonrenormalization of the superpotential, but operates in the split-SUSY scenario.Comment: 23 pages, uses axodra

    Phenomenological Consequences of Singlet Neutrinos

    In this paper, we study the phenomenology of right-handed neutrino isosinglets. We consider the general situation where the neutrino masses are not necessarily given by mD2/Mm_D^2/M, where mDm_D and MM are the Dirac and Majorana mass terms respectively. The consequent mixing between the light and heavy neutrinos is then not suppressed, and we treat it as an independent parameter in the analysis. It turns out that Ό−e\mu-e conversion is an important experiment in placing limits on the heavy mass scale (MM) and the mixing. Mixings among light neutrinos are constrained by neutrinoless double beta decay, as well as by solar and atmospheric neutrino experiments.
