    Photon plus heavy quark production in high energy collisions within the target rest frame formalism

    We apply the target rest frame formalism to photon + heavy quark production cross section in hadronic collisions at high energies. We investigate the dependence of the production cross section on the photon and quark rapidities and transverse momenta. It is shown that the photon transverse momentum spectrum is a sensitive probe of color dipole scattering amplitude. The theoretical results are compared to Tevatron measurements of the differential \gamma + c + X and \gamma + b + X production cross sections at 1.96 TeV. An analysis for proton-proton and proton-lead collisions at the LHC regime is also performed.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures. Version to be published in Physical Review

    Charm and bottom production in inclusive double Pomeron exchange in heavy ion collisions at the LHC

    The inclusive double Pomeron exchange cross section for heavy quark pair production is calculated for nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC. The present estimate is based on hard diffractive factorization, corrected by absorptive corrections and nuclear effects. The theoretical uncertainties for nuclear collisions are investigated and a comparison to other approaches is presented.     Reconstruction of the Cosmic Equation of State for High Redshift

    We investigate the possibilities of reconstructing the cosmic equation of state (EoS) for high redshift. In order to obtain general results, we use two model-independent approaches. The first reconstructs the EoS using comoving distance and the second makes use of the Hubble parameter data. To implement the first method, we use a recent set of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) measures. To implement the second method, we generate simulated data using the Sandage-Loeb (SLSL) effect; for the fiducial model, we use the ΛCDM\Lambda CDM model. In both cases, the statistical analysis is conducted through the Gaussian processes (non-parametric). In general, we demonstrate that this methodology for reconstructing the EoS using a non-parametric method plus a model-independent approach works appropriately due to the feasibility of calculation and the ease of introducing a priori information (H0H_ {0} and Ωm0\Omega_{m0}). In the near future, following this methodology with a higher number of high quality data will help obtain strong restrictions for the EoS.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure

    Avalanche dynamics in fluid imbibition near the depinning transition

    We study avalanche dynamics and local activity of forced-flow imbibition fronts in disordered media. We focus on the front dynamics as the mean velocity vˉ\bar{v} of the interface is decreased and the pinning state is approached. Scaling arguments allow us to obtain the statistics of avalanche sizes and durations, which become power-law distributed due to the existence of a critical point at vˉ=0\bar{v}= 0. Results are compared with phase-field numerical simulations

    Parton saturation effects to the Drell-Yan process in the color dipole picture

    We report on the results obtained in the study of the parton saturation effects, taken into account through the multiscattering Glauber-Mueller approach, applied to the Drell-Yan (DY) process described in the color dipole picture.
