    Second-harmonic generation with a 440,000% W-1 conversion efficiency in a lithium niobate microcavity without periodic poling

    Thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) enables extremely high-efficiency second-order nonlinear optical effects due to large nonlinear coefficient d33 and strong optical field localization. Here, we first designed and fabricated a pulley-waveguide-coupled microring resonator with an intrinsic quality factor above 9.4 x10^5 on the reverse-polarized double-layer X-cut TFLN. In such a TFLN resonator without fine domain structures, second harmonic generation with an absolute (normalized) conversion efficiency of 30% (440,000% W-1), comparable to that in periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) microring resonators, was realized with a sub-microwatt continuous pump. This work reduces the dependence of high-efficiency nonlinear frequency conversion on PPLN microcavities that are difficult to prepare

    Heterogeneity characterization of hepatocellular carcinoma based on the sensitivity to 5-fluorouracil and development of a prognostic regression model

    Background: 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a widely used chemotherapeutic drug in clinical cancer treatment, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A correct understanding of the mechanisms leading to a low or lack of sensitivity of HCC to 5-FU-based treatment is a key element in the current personalized medical treatment.Methods: Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to analyze the expression profiles of the cancer cell line from GDSC2 to identify 5-FU-related modules and hub genes. According to hub genes, HCC was classified and the machine learning model was developed by ConsensusClusterPlus and five different machine learning algorithms. Furthermore, we performed quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis on the genes in our model.Results: A total of 19 modules of the cancer cell line were divided by WGCNA, and the most negative correlation with 5-FU was the midnight blue module, from which 45 hub genes were identified. HCC was divided into three subgroups (C1, C2, and C3) with significant overall survival (OS) differences. OS of C1 was the shortest, which was characterized by a high clinical grade and later T stage and stage. OS of C3 was the longest. OS of C2 was between the two subtypes, and its immune infiltration was the lowest. Five out of 45 hub genes, namely, TOMM40L, SNRPA, ILF3, CPSF6, and NUP205, were filtered to develop a risk regression model as an independent prognostic indicator for HCC. The qRT-PCR results showed that TOMM40L, SNRPA, ILF3, CPSF6, and NUP205 were remarkably highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma.Conclusion: The HCC classification based on the sensitivity to 5-FU was in line with the prognostic differences observed in HCC and most of the genomic variation, immune infiltration, and heterogeneity of pathological pathways. The regression model related to 5-FU sensitivity may be of significance in individualized prognostic monitoring of HCC

    Neurocalcin-delta: a potential memory-related factor in hippocampus of obese rats induced by high-fat diet.

    Introduction: Aberrant protein expression within the hippocampus has recently been implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity- induced memory impairment.Objectives: The objective of the current study was to search for specific memory-related factors in the hippocampus in obese rats.Methods: Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were fed either a high-fat (HF) diet or normal-fat (NF) diet for 10 weeks to obtain the control (CON), diet-induced obese rats (DIO) and diet-resistant (DR) rats. D-galactose was injected subcutaneously for 10 weeks to establish model (MOD) rats with learning and memory impairment. After the hippocampus of the rats sampling, the proteome analysis was conducted using two-dimensional get electrophoresis (2-DE) combined with peptide mass fingerprinting (PMF).Results: We found 15 differential proteins that expressed in the hippocampus in rats induced by HF diet from the 2-DE map. In addition, Neurocalcin-delta (NCALD) was nearly down-regulated in the DR rats compared with CON rats and MOD rats, which was further confirmed by Western blot, real-time PCR and ELISA results.Conclusion: Our data demonstrates that the differential memory-related proteins were a reflection of the HF diet, but not potential factors in obesity proneness or obesity resistance. Furthermore, NCALD is proved to be a potential hippocampus-memory related factor related to obesity.Keywords: Diet-induced obesity; diet-resistant; high fat diet; neurocalcin-delta; proteom

    Influence of an external magnetic field on the decoherence of a central spin coupled to an antiferromagnetic environment

    Using the spin wave approximation, we study the decoherence dynamics of a central spin coupled to an antiferromagnetic environment under the application of an external global magnetic field. The external magnetic field affects the decoherence process through its effect on the antiferromagnetic environment. It is shown explicitly that the decoherence factor which displays a Gaussian decay with time depends on the strength of the external magnetic field and the crystal anisotropy field in the antiferromagnetic environment. When the values of the external magnetic field is increased to the critical field point at which the spin-flop transition (a first-order quantum phase transition) happens in the antiferromagnetic environment, the decoherence of the central spin reaches its highest point. This result is consistent with several recent quantum phase transition witness studies. The influences of the environmental temperature on the decoherence behavior of the central spin are also investigated.Comment: 29 preprint pages, 4 figures, to appear in New Journal of Physic

The nitro group forms a dihedral angle of 5.3 (2)° with the indane benzene ring while the dihedral angle between the phenyl ring and the indane benzene ring is 76.74 (9)°
