    A catalog of Kazarian galaxies

The entire Kazarian galaxies (KG) catalog is presented which combines extensive new measurements of their optical parameters with a literature and database search. The measurements were made using images extracted from the STScI Digitized Sky Survey (DSS) of Jpg(blue), Fpg(red) and Ipg(NIR) band photographic sky survey plates obtained by the Palomar and UK Schmidt telescopes. We provide accurate coordinates, morphological type, spectral and activity classes, blue apparent diameters, axial ratios, position angles, red, blue and NIR apparent magnitudes, as well as counts of neighboring objects in a circle of radius 50 kpc from centers of KG. Special attention was paid to the individual descriptions of the galaxies in the original Kazarian lists, which clarified many cases of misidentifications of the objects, particularly among interacting systems. The total number of individual Kazarian objects in the database is now 706. We also include the redshifts which are now available for 404 galaxies and the 2MASS infrared magnitudes for 598 KG. The database also includes extensive notes, which summarize information about the membership of KG in different systems of galaxies, and about revised activity classes and redshifts. An atlas of several interesting subclasses of KG is also presented.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, 1 table, Accepted in Astrophysics, Vol. 53, No. 1, 2010 (English translation of Astrofizika

Simultaneous B'V'R' Monitoring of BL Lacertae Object S5~0716+714 and Detection of Inter-Band Time Delay

We present the results of our optical monitoring of the BL Lac object S5 0716+714 on seven nights in 2006 December. The monitoring was carried out simultaneously at three optical wavelengths with a novel photometric system. The object did not show large-amplitude internight variations during this period. Intranight variations were observed on four nights and probably on one more. Strong bluer-when-brighter chromatism was detected on both intranight and internight timescales. The intranight variation amplitude decreases in the wavelength sequence of B', R', and V'. Cross correlation analyses revealed that the variability at the BB' and VV' bands lead that at the RR' band by about 30 minutes on one night.Comment: 31 pages, 12 figures, accepted by the Astronomical Journa

In the present work the phenomenon of colonization of the curriculum from modernity in higher education is exposed, the licenciatura in economics allows to visualize a critical panorama to the curricular adjustments given towards an integral formation, from the UAZ Educational Model. The arrival of external educational plans influenced by western ideology, see higher education as a company capable of generating profit, hence terms such as quality, modernity, have been adopted in the curricula with special interest. That is why it is said that the curricular contents represent new forms of colonization, and modernization, with the discourse of the idea of progress, has been able to transform the social function of education. The curriculum is a historical and social construction that must be studied and understood as such, hence the need to put in tension and question the educational models imposed by modernity and, consequently, identify the successes and deficiencies of the curricular models of this so-called modernity. The objective of the work in question is to present an analysis of the influence of modernity and colonization on the curriculum in higher education, specifically in the Licenciatura en Economía de la Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas “Francisco García Salinas”; the above, from different theoretical perspectives and according to the teaching opinion. The look of the teachers is fundamental to know their appreciations in terms of the nuances that permeate the so-called modern curriculum, as they are constant evaluators of this journey at the higher level; for this purpose, the semi-structured interview was attended. By way of conclusion, some reflections resulting from the fieldwork are presented.

Characterisation of Connexin Expression and Electrophysiological Properties in Stable Clones of the HL-1 Myocyte Cell Line

The HL-1 atrial line contains cells blocked at various developmental stages. To obtain homogeneous sub-clones and correlate changes in gene expression with functional alterations, individual clones were obtained and characterised for parameters involved in conduction and excitation-contraction coupling. Northern blots for mRNAs coding for connexins 40, 43 and 45 and calcium handling proteins (sodium/calcium exchanger, L- and T-type calcium channels, ryanodine receptor 2 and sarco-endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2) were performed. Connexin expression was further characterised by western blots and immunofluorescence. Inward currents were characterised by voltage clamp and conduction velocities measured using microelectrode arrays. The HL-1 clones had similar sodium and calcium inward currents with the exception of clone 2 which had a significantly smaller calcium current density. All the clones displayed homogenous propagation of electrical activity across the monolayer correlating with the levels of connexin expression. Conduction velocities were also more sensitive to inhibition of junctional coupling by carbenoxolone (∼80%) compared to inhibition of the sodium current by lidocaine (∼20%). Electrical coupling by gap junctions was the major determinant of conduction velocities in HL-1 cell lines. In summary we have isolated homogenous and stable HL-1 clones that display characteristics distinct from the heterogeneous properties of the original cell line

Optical Monitoring of BL Lacertae Object OJ 287: a 40-Day Period?

We present the results of our optical monitoring of the BL Lacertae object OJ 287 during the first half of 2005. The source did not show large-amplitude variations during this period and was in a relatively quiescent state. A possible period of 40 days was derived from its light curves in three BATC wavebands. A bluer-when-brighter chromatism was discovered, which is different from the extremely stable color during the outburst in 1994--96. The different color behaviors imply different variation mechanisms in the two states. We then re-visited the optical data on OJ 287 from the OJ-94 project and found as well a probable period of 40 days in its optical variability during the late-1994 outburst. The results suggest that two components contribute to the variability of OJ 287 during its outburst state. The first component is the normal {\sl blazar} variation. This component has an amplitude similar to that of the quiescent state and also may share a similar periodicity. The second component can be taken as a `low-frequency modulation' to the first component. It may be induced by the interaction of the assumed binary black holes in the center of this object. The 40-day period may be related to the helical structure of the magnetic field at the base of the jet, or to the orbital motion close to the central primary black hole.Comment: 31 pages, 8 figures, accepted by A

Stellar spectroscopy: Fermions and holographic Lifshitz criticality

Electron stars are fluids of charged fermions in Anti-de Sitter spacetime. They are candidate holographic duals for gauge theories at finite charge density and exhibit emergent Lifshitz scaling at low energies. This paper computes in detail the field theory Green's function G^R(w,k) of the gauge-invariant fermionic operators making up the star. The Green's function contains a large number of closely spaced Fermi surfaces, the volumes of which add up to the total charge density in accordance with the Luttinger count. Excitations of the Fermi surfaces are long lived for w <~ k^z. Beyond w ~ k^z the fermionic quasiparticles dissipate strongly into the critical Lifshitz sector. Fermions near this critical dispersion relation give interesting contributions to the optical conductivity.Comment: 38 pages + appendices. 9 figure

Collapsing Glomerulonephritis in a Kidney Transplant Recipient after mRNA SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination

With the vaccination against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), studies are describing cases of glomerulonephritis arising after vaccination. We present the first case of a kidney transplant patient who, after mRNA vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, developed nephrotic proteinuria and renal dysfunction, with a biopsy diagnostic of collapsing glomerulonephritis. No other triggers for this glomerulonephritis were identified. Antibodies against the spike protein were negative, but the patient developed a specific T-cell response. The close time between vaccination and the proteinuria suggests a possible determinant role of vaccination. We should be aware of nephropathies appearing after COVID-19 vaccination in kidney transplant recipients also

In this study the hydrochemical patterns of the Mayo River aquifer, in the Mayo River Irrigation District, and the factors determining the spatial distribution of the water quality for irrigation were determined. Physicochemical information, from 2005 to 2007, of 54 goereference wells was classified in the Piper diagram and principal component analysis (PCA). The use of the hydrochemical method and PCA allowed to identify the existing hidrochemical patterns and the factors that influence them. Close to Mayo riverbed waters were classified as magnesium-calcium bicarbonate, indicating short term resident time of water. North of the aquifer sulfate samples dominated, as a result of water circulation on sedimentary evaporite deposits. In the southcentral area most waters were saline-sodic.
