This study aimed at assaying the antioxidant activities of Syrian sumac (Rhus coriaria) . The proximate analysis revealed that Syrian sumac contains higher percentage of fat , carbohydrate , protein and ash 18.74 , 71.21 , 4.69 and 2.93 % respectively . All extracts 1,4 and 2 showed antioxidant effects compared with ?- tocopherol . But the antioxidant effects of all extracts was low compared with BHT . While the extracts 3 has no effect in preventing lipid peroxidation 37.87% at 5 mg / ml after 1 day . The antimicrobial activity of Rhus coriaria extracts were tested against six strains including three Gram –positive and three Gram –negative . Bacillus subtilis was found to be the most sensitive Gram –positive with MIC of 0.5 mg / ml , while Gram –negative bacteria were affected by higher concentrations of sumac extracts ranging 10-20 mg / ml . Among bacteria , the inhibitory effects was increased with the increase of R . coriaria fruit extracts concentration from 0.1 to 20 mg / ml . The findings demonstrate that sumac can be used as a natural antioxidant and antimicrobial

Lead and cadmium are highly toxic metals that can be ingested or inhaled from a variety of industrial and dietary sources. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of chronic administration of lead and cadmium on the activity of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in different central nervous system regions (CNS) of male guinea pigs and the protective effect of barley ( Hardeum valgara) plant . Five groups of animals were used in this experiment ,frist group of animals was subcutaneous injected at dose level (30mg/kg. body weight) lead acetate , the second group was injected with (1mg/kg. body weight) cadmium chloride, third group of animals received a mixed dose of the two heavy metals with the same previous dose , the fourth dose was recived an aqueous solution of barley (5mg/kg body weight ) for two weeks followed by a mixed dose of lead and cadmium (30mg/kg. body weight), (1mg/kg.) .Animals were decapitated after two, four, six and eight weeks after injection. The activity of monoamine oxidase (MAO ) was determined in the cerebral cortex, caudate putamen, thalamus., hypothalamus, superior colliculus, inferior colliculus , cerebellum, pons, medulla and spinal cord in male guinea pig CNS. Lead and cadmium induced a general changes in the level of the membrane bound enzyme (MAO) in most CNS regions and in turn affecting both cholinergic and adrenergic neurotransmitters. These results suggest that lead and cadmium may exerts neurotoxic effect by altering certain membrane bound enzymes and may cause oxidative stress that could lead to neurodegenerative diseases. Supplemented groups with barley exhibited a similar MAO to the control group, suggesting that barly protected the CNS from functional damage resulted from the heavy metales . Accordingly, these results indicate that barley supplementation in amixed dose of lead and cadmium injected pigs normalized MAO in most CNS regions, i.e is lead to a general improvement in MAO activity

An Adaptive FLV Steganography Approach Using Simulated Annealing

Steganography is not only the art of hiding secret messages in cover media but also a process of communication and secure data transfer. Secret messages can be sent over the Internet with security by using several steganography techniques, but all of them present challenges in steganalysis. This study proposes a new secure technique called flash video (FLV) file steganography that keeps the frame video quality and is difficult to detect. The technique can hide any type of secret message inside a given FLV file. The secret message is divided into packets of the same length, reordered packet, and encrypted bytes before being hidden at the end of a selected video tag. A simulated annealing (SA) approach to select tags for steganography is presented to reduce or avoid the challenge of steganalysis. The proposed method uses SA as supporting framework to deal with the FLV file as a host for different types of secret messages. The system determines the minimum path within the host FLV file by using SA and hides the message bits inside each pixel in the minimum computed path. Analysis of the host FLV file cannot be performed without proper knowledge on the transformation process. Thus, the existence of the secret message is difficult to detect by steganalysis. Knowledge is represented by the key of finding the minimum path in the host FLV file, key of secret message length, key of additional bytes, key of message packets reordering and key of message extension. Experimental results show that the proposed technique satisfies the main requirements of steganography with regard to visual appearance, capacity, undetectability, and robustness against extraction

IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTIRATE TECHNIQUE IN WIRLESS APPLICATION USING FPGA

    Get PDF
:Multirate filter is one of the main parts that determining the receiveing quality in wireless communication. Wireless applications including ETSI DVB-T/H digital terrestrial television transmission and IEEE network standards such as 802.11 (“WiFi”), 802.16 (“WiMAX”) have high quality data acquisition and storage system requirements which increasingly take advantage using multirate techniques to avoid the use of expensive anti-aliasing analogue filters and to handle efficiently signal of different bandwidths which require different sampling frequencies. So, the present work deals with the design and implementation of multistage distributed arithmetic FIR filter with efficient cost of multiplication and storage requirement. Previous work concerning the implementation of filter is either using special programmable devices or DSP processors. Some of these works used the FPGA based architectures to implement filter in single stage but with high cost and complex design to implement. The designed arrangements are simulated and implemented using VHDL based software on Virtex-II FPGA chip. High signal resolution and large dynamic range are the main features achieved in the work

Transient dynamic impact suppression of a Baja chassis using frontal and rear shock absorbers

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the behaviour of impact loading on a Baja vehicle chassis with frontal and rear shock absorbers, using transient dynamic analysis under different assumptions of contact conditions. Using a Baja car, a transient dynamic impact is performed in ANSYS Workbench 14.0, where the maximum deformation, stress and strains are calculated over duration of the particular impact. The mathematical model of the chassis is derived based on Kelvin model in order to design the best parameters of stiffness and damping coefficient in shock absorbers to minimise the deformation of the frame with the same impact. To study the effects of shock absorber under loading on a vehicle chassis, multiple finite element simulations are performed with different methodologies. Each methodology uses a different assumption on loading and boundary conditions, which leads to different results
