On the correspondence between conformance testing and regular inference
Abstract. Conformance testing for finite state machines and regular inference both aim at identifying the model structure underlying a black box system on the basis of a limited set of observations. Whereas the former technique checks for equivalence with a given conjecture model, the latter techniques addresses the corresponding synthesis problem by means of techniques adopted from automata learning. In this paper we establish a common framework to investigate the similarities of these techniques by showing how results in one area can be transferred to results in the other and to explain the reasons for their differences.
European Social Fund Financial Assistance to Latvia
Latvia has to develop in all aspects ā economics, social welfare, make better populationās standard of living and modernize technical, transport infrastructures. In a current situation Latvia may use available European Social funds to improve the social conditions of life levels in the country ā to reduce unemployment, raise employment levels, personal qualifications and competence.
The objective of the master thesis is to appraise the European Social fund financial help make conclusions and to work out suggestions based on made research to improve the European Social fund financial use in Latvia.
The master thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter reveals the pre-accession instruments financed by the EU and the structural funds accessible in Latvia after entering the EU, its quiddity, forms and objectives. There is also a review of structural funds administrating system process.
The next part dedicated to the analysis of the European Social fund investment in Latvia programming period 2007-2013 through 1st operational programme āHuman Resources and Employmentā.
The final part is dedicated to the analysis of the European Social fund projects implement in Latvia and benefits through the European Social fund funding of the first programming period 2004 ā 2006 and the next programming period 2007 ā 2013 years.
In the master thesis conclusion the author offers conclusions, which showed in the writing process of the thesis, and bring forward suggestions of improvement of the European Social fund financing use in Latvia.

Learning meets Verification
Abstract. In this paper, we give an overview on some algorithms for learning automata. Starting with Biermannās and Angluinās algorithms, we describe some of the extensions catering for specialized or richer classes of automata. Furthermore, we survey their recent application to verification problems.
