Muon g-2 through a flavor structure on soft SUSY terms

    Get PDF
In this work we analyze the possibility to explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment discrepancy within theory and experiment through lepton flavor violation processes. We propose a flavor extended MSSM by considering a hierarchical family structure for the trilinear scalar Soft-Supersymmetric terms of the Lagranagian, present at the SUSY breaking scale. We obtain analytical results for the rotation mass matrix, with the consequence of having non-universal slepton masses and the possibility of leptonic flavour mixing. The one-loop supersymmetric contributions to the leptonic flavour violating process τ→μγ\tau \to \mu\gamma are calculated in the physical basis, with slepton flavour mixed states, instead of using the well known Mass Insertion Method. We present the regions in parameter space where the muon g-2 problem is either entirely solved or partially reduced through the contribution of these flavor violating processes.Comment: 21 pages, 7 figures. Changes on version 3: In order to obtain the complete result for muon g-2 in the limit of non-flavor violation we added the terms given in the appendix. We redid the graphics and numerical analysis including these changes. We also corrected some typos and changed the order of figure

Validation of the 3-under-2 principle of cell wall growth in Gram-positive bacteria by simulation of a simple coarse-grained model

The aim of this work is to propose a first coarse-grained model of Bacillus subtilis cell wall, handling explicitly the existence of multiple layers of peptidoglycans. In this first work, we aim at the validation of the recently proposed "three under two" principle.Comment: Revised introduction, results unchange

Renormalized coordinate approach to the thermalization process

We consider a particle in the harmonic approximation coupled linearly to an environment. modeled by an infinite set of harmonic oscillators. The system (particle--environment) is considered in a cavity at thermal equilibrium. We employ the recently introduced notion of renormalized coordinates to investigate the time evolution of the particle occupation number. For comparison we first present this study in bare coordinates. For a long ellapsed time, in both approaches, the occupation number of the particle becomes independent of its initial value. The value of ocupation number of the particle is the physically expected one at the given temperature. So we have a Markovian process, describing the particle thermalization with the environment. With renormalized coordinates no renormalization procedure is required, leading directly to a finite result.Comment: 16 pages, LATEX, 2 figure

Role of critical spin fluctuations in ultrafast demagnetization of transition-metal rare-earth alloys

Ultrafast magnetization dynamics induced by femtosecond laser pulses have been measured in ferrimagnetic Co0.8Gd0.2, Co.74Tb.26 and Co.86Tb.14 alloys. Using element sensitivity of X-ray magnetic circular dichroism at the Co L3, Tb M5 and Gd M5 edges we evidence that the demagnetization dynamics is element dependent. We show that a thermalization time as fast as 280 fs is observed for the rare-earth in the alloy, when the laser excited state temperature is below the compensation temperature. It is limited to 500 fs when the laser excited state temperature is below the Curie temperature (Tc). We propose critical spin fluctuations in the vicinity of TC as the mechanism which reduces the demagnetization rates of the 4f electrons in transition-metal rare-earth alloys whereas at any different temperature the limited demagnetization rates could be avoided.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure

Fish consumption in Brazil: is the internal market able to accommodate the strong growth projected for Brazilian aquaculture?

This trend of growth of aquaculture is also repeated in Brazil. The sector grew by 31.2% in annual production between 2008 and 2010, reaching 479,399 tons. It is in this context of expected strong growth of aquaculture production in Brazil in the coming years as the need arises to check the ability of the market to absorb this increased supply.ICAS 2013

Fish farming familiar stands out for its strong social and economic appeal, given its potential in terms of food security, income generation and diversification of rural establishments. In this context, it is important that the state of Tocantins has significant deficiencies in terms of their social and economic development.ICAS 2013

    Get PDF
