Surface tension implementation for Gensmac 2D

    Get PDF
In the present work we describe a method which allows the incorporation of surface tension into the GENSMAC2D code. This is achieved on two scales. First on the scale of a cell, the surface tension effects are incorporated into the free surface boundary conditions through the computation of the capillary pressure. The required curvature is estimated by fitting a least square circle to the free surface using the tracking particles in the cell and in its close neighbors. On a sub-cell scale, short wavelength perturbations are filtered out using a local 4-point stencil which is mass conservative. An efficient implementation is obtained through a dual representation of the cell data, using both a matrix representation, for ease at identifying neighbouring cells, and also a tree data structure, which permits the representation of specific groups of cells with additional information pertaining to that group. The resulting code is shown to be robust, and to produce accurate results when compared with exact solutions of selected fluid dynamic problems involving surface tension

The educational legislation in inclusive education in Europe: The importance of transmitting intercultural values

    Get PDF
This research aims to know the intercultural values that are transmitted in the different laws of European Basic Education. With this goal, it tries to assess if the inclusive intercultural education is encouraged from the first legislative ladder. For this reason, a qualitative analysis was made through a system of categories intercultural values, previously validated, by the laws of Basic Education within 32 countries of the European continent. The results were analyzed by means of qualitative software Atlas. And the scores were normalized using a formula to get percentages. Within the most relevant conclusions are all the educational legislation assessed values transmitted intercultural and the most transmitted values are the intercultural primary values

The disintegrin echistatin in combination with doxorubicin targets high-metastatic human osteosarcoma overexpressing ανβ3 integrin in chick embryo and nude mouse models.

Echistatin, a cyclic RGD peptide, which is an antagonist of αvβ3 integrin (disintegrin), inhibited human osteosarcoma in the chick chorioallontoic membrane (CAM) model and tumor growth and pulmonary metastases in a nude mouse orthotopic model. A high-metastatic variant of human osteosarcoma, 143B-LM4, overexpressing αvβ3 integrin was used. Tumor angiogenesis by high-metastatic variant 143B-LM4 cells in the CAM was significantly inhibited by echistatin (P<0.05) as was overall growth. A doxorubicin (DOX)-echistatin combination inhibited orthotopic tumor growth compared to untreated control (P<0.01) or DOX alone (P<0.05) in nude mice. Tumor-bearing mice treated with the DOX-echistatin combination survived longer than those treated with DOX alone or control PBS (P<0.01 and P<0.01, respectively). Echistatin also inhibited experimental lung metastasis of 143B-LM4 cells in nude mice. These results suggest that DOX in combination with a disintegrin has potential to treat osteosarcoma and that αvβ3 integrin may be a target for osteosarcoma

Dynamics of Village Head Election Arrangements

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the arrangement of village head elections from the beginning of independence until now. The method used in this study is the normative legal research method regarding primary and secondary legal materials. The legal materials obtained are then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the arrangement of the selection of village heads has its dynamics in line with the development of the politics of the law of the state that occurs. The existing legal, political conditions influence determining the conditions for the candidates of village heads. Although it has been regulated for a long time, it turns out that all existing laws and regulations have not made arrangements related to the provisions of the supervisory mechanism and the mechanism of resolving disputes for the selection of village heads. Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs on the Selection of Village Heads attaches supervisory duties to the regional election committee. However, it does not make arrangements for how the surveillance process should be conducted. On the one hand, in the regulation, it is expressly mentioned the existence of supervisors in the implementation of village head elections. Nevertheless, it did not specify who the superintendent was. Similarly, the settlement of disputes for the selection of village heads is left entirely to the Regent /Mayor to do so. Granting authority to the head of the region can undermine the democratic process built by the village through the selection of village heads

Nonequilibrium Phase Transition in the Kinetic Ising model: Critical Slowing Down and Specific-heat Singularity

The nonequilibrium dynamic phase transition, in the kinetic Ising model in presence of an oscillating magnetic field, has been studied both by Monte Carlo simulation and by solving numerically the mean field dynamic equation of motion for the average magnetisation. In both the cases, the Debye 'relaxation' behaviour of the dynamic order parameter has been observed and the 'relaxation time' is found to diverge near the dynamic transition point. The Debye relaxation of the dynamic order parameter and the power law divergence of the relaxation time have been obtained from a very approximate solution of the mean field dynamic equation. The temperature variation of appropiately defined 'specific-heat' is studied by Monte Carlo simulation near the transition point. The specific-heat has been observed to diverge near the dynamic transition point.Comment: Revtex, Five encapsulated postscript files, submitted to Phys. Rev.
