Magnetopause stand-off distance in dependence on the magnetosheath and solar wind parameters
International audienceA model of the magnetosheath structure proposed in a recent paper from the authors is extended to estimate the magnetopause stand-off distance from solar wind data. For this purpose, the relationship of the magnetopause location to the magnetosheath and solar wind parameters is studied. It is shown that magnetopause erosion may be explained in terms of the magnetosheath magnetic field penetration into the magnetosphere. The coefficient of penetration (the ratio of the magnetospheric magnetic field depression to the intensity of the magnetosheath magnetic field Bm?z=?Bmsin2?/2, is estimated and found approximately to equal 1. It is shown that having combined a magnetosheath model presented in an earlier paper and the magnetosheath field penetration model presented in this paper, it is possible to predict the magnetopause stand-off distance from solar wind parameters

Multi-critera selection of a corporate system by using paired comparison analysis
The paper presents the results of comparing foreign corporate information systems (CISs) obtained by using the classical analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The eight most common corporate information systems of international standards were analyzed, there were determined some classes of criteria which are vital when selecting a system, and for each criterion 3-4 most suitable systems were identifie
Formal methods of analysis and synthesis for decisions options during corporate information system development
The article presents a generalized approach to decision making in the process of application development based on cyclically repeating actions, including the synthesis of solution options and their analysis. They considered the basic methods of analysis and synthesis used in decision-making process on the design of corporate information systems (CIS). The description of the proposed generalized semantic model is given on
the example of component interaction of the Integrated complex of high-level development tools and the functioning environment of corporate-level information systems (Platform). They analyzed the process of CIS IT infrastructure on the basis of the Platform and the specific steps of making a management decision for this

Intuition in business: Empirical base
In this article, the authors propose economic projection of the views of Daniel Kahneman on intuition. The authors believe intuition to act as an operative category in entrepreneurship. The results of given statistical experiment prove viability of the phenomenon of intuition when making investment decisions. Two independent mechanisms for investment decisions are being defined - the «rational» and the «intuitive» ones. The research leads to conclusion that entrepreneurs’ intuitive decisions possess a relatively high level of efficiency. © 2016 Fomin et al
Antimicrobial and therapeutic effect of probiotics in cases of experimental purulent wounds
Probiotics based on bacteria of the genus Bacillus with a multifactorial mechanism of action are considered as a possible alternative to antibiotics in the treatment of purulent wounds. The aim of the study was to determine the antimicrobial and therapeutic effect of the Arederma probiotic preparation containing probiotic strains of the genus Bacillus in an experimental model of a purulent wound in animals. The antimicrobial efficacy of the probiotic against test strains and clinical isolates of pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms was studied using the method of delayed antagonism. Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Streptococcus pyogenes K-7 were used to model a purulent wound. From the surface of the wounds, bacteria of Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas genera and Enterobacteriaceae family were sown on appropriate selective media for the cultivation and enumeration of different groups of microorganisms by generally accepted microbiological research methods. The formation of a purulent wound in rabbits caused by mechanical skin damage and subsequent double infection with Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Streptococcus pyogenes K-7 strains was accompanied with a pronounced inflammatory process, necrosis, the formation of purulent exudate and general intoxication. Representatives of the genera Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, microscopic fungi and, to a lesser extent, members of the family Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas were found on the surface of purulent wounds, which confirmed the development of the infectious-inflammatory process. Treatment of purulent wounds with a suspension of probiotic preparation once a day for 4 days led to their faster healing (gradual attenuation of the inflammatory process, reduction of edema and discharge, as well as their disappearance) compared with untreated purulent wounds (control). Representatives of the Staphylococcus and Streptococcus genera, as well as microscopic fungi, presented in purulent wounds treated with probiotic preparation in much smaller numbers than in the control, and bacteria of the Pseudomonas genus and the Enterobacteriaceae family were not detected at all. The effective antimicrobial effect of this probiotic preparation against opportunistic and pathogenic microorganisms was confirmed by in vitro studies. Therefore, the Arederma probiotic preparation showed an effective therapeutic and antimicrobial effect in the experimental model of a purulent wound in animals, so it can be recommended for further preclinical and clinical studies
Li-loaded liquid scintillators produced by direct dissolution of compounds in diisopropylnaphthalene (DIPN)
The paper describes preparation of Li-loaded liquid scintillators by
methods involving direct dissolution of Li salts in the commercial
diisopropylnaphthalene (DIPN) solvent, without the formation of water-in-oil
emulsions. Methods include incorporation of Li that, unlike previously
reported formulations, does not require additions of water or a strong acid
such as hydrochloric acid (HCl). Results of the conducted experiments show that
dissolution of aromatic and aliphatic Li salts in DIPN can be easily
achieved at 0.1- 0.3% by weight of atomic Li, using small additions of
waterless surfactants, or mild carboxylic acids. An alternative way suggests
incorporation of Li as a part of a surfactant molecule that can be
dissolved in DIPN without any solubilizing additions. Proposed methods enable
preparation of efficient Li-loaded liquid scintillators that, at a large
scale of 50 cm, exhibit good pulse shape discrimination (PSD) properties
combined with up to 107% of light output and up to 115% of the attenuation
length measured relative to standard undoped EJ-309 liquid scintillator.Comment: Submitted to Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research
Interpretation of the Veiling of the Photospheric Spectrum for T Tauri Stars in Terms of an Accretion Model
The problem on heating the atmospheres of T Tauri stars by radiation from an
accretion shock has been solved. The structure and radiation spectrum of the
emerging so-called hot spot have been calculated in the LTE approximation. The
emission not only in continuum but also in lines has been taken into account
for the first time when calculating the spot spectrum. Comparison with
observations has shown that the strongest of these lines manifest themselves as
narrow components of helium and metal emission lines, while the weaker ones
decrease significantly the depth of photospheric absorption lines, although
until now, this effect has been thought to be due to the emission continuum
alone. The veiling by lines changes the depth of different photospheric lines
to a very different degree even within a narrow spectral range. Therefore, the
nonmonotonic wavelength dependence of the degree of veiling r found for some
CTTS does not suggest a nontrivial spectral energy distribution of the veiling
continuum. In general, it makes sense to specify the degree of veiling r only
by providing the set of photospheric lines from which this quantity was
determined. We show that taking into account the contribution of lines to the
veiling of the photospheric spectrum can cause the existing estimates of the
accretion rate onto T Tauri stars to decrease by several times, with this being
also true for stars with a comparatively weakly veiled spectrum. Neglecting the
contribution of lines to the veiling can also lead to appreciable errors in
determining the effective temperature, interstellar extinction, radial
velocity, and vsin(i)
