Inference on the reliability R = P(Y \u3c X) in a Pareto distribution with a known scale parameter is considered. Point estimates and confidence intervals of R are obtained a test of hypothesis is also considered

Nonparametric Bayesian Multiple Comparisons for Dependence Parameter in Bivariate Exponential Populations

    Get PDF
A nonparametric Bayesian multiple comparisons problem (MCP) for dependence parameters in I bivariate exponential populations is studied. A simple method for pairwise comparisons of these parameters is also suggested. The methodology by Gopalan and Berry (1998) is extended using Dirichlet process priors, applied in the form of baseline prior and likelihood combination to provide the comparisons. Computation of the posterior probabilities of all possible hypotheses are carried out through a Markov Chain Monte Carlo, Gibbs sampling, due to the intractability of analytic evaluation. The process of MCP for the dependent parameters of bivariate exponential populations is illustrated with a numerical example

Oransal lindley fréchet dağılımının bazı teorik ve hesaplamalı yönleri

In this article, we study an extension of the Fréchet model by using the the odd Lindley-G family of distributions, which was introduced by [17]. Its some statistical properties such as quantile function, density shapes, moments, generating functions and order statistics are obtained. We estimate its parameters by maximum likelihood method. The Monte Carlo simulation is used for assessing the performance of the maximum likelihood method. The usefulness of the odd Lindley Fréchet model is illustrated by means of three real data sets.

Two Dimension Marginal Distributions of Crossing Time and Renewal Numbers Related to Two-Stage Erlang Processes

    Get PDF
The two dimensional marginal transform, probability density and cumulative probability distribution functions for the random variables TξN (time taken by servers during vacations), ξN (number of vacations taken by servers) and Nη (number of customers or units arriving in the system) are derived by taking combinations of these random variables. One random variable is controlled at one time to determine the effect of the other two random variables simultaneously

On the Truncated Pareto Distribution with applications

The Pareto probability distribution is widely applied in different fields such us finance, physics, hydrology, geology and astronomy. This note deals with an application of the Pareto distribution to astrophysics and more precisely to the statistical analysis of mass of stars and of diameters of asteroids. In particular a comparison between the usual Pareto distribution and its truncated version is presented. Finally a possible physical mechanism that produces Pareto tails for the distribution of the masses of stars is suggested.Comment: 10 pages 6 figure

Latent activity of curcumin against leishmaniasis in vitro

In this study the anti-proliferative effect of curcumin (curcuma longa) that is the active ingredient of ground dried rhizome has been studied against three local and three reference leishmanial strains, Leishmania major, Leishmania tropica and Leishmania infantum (Pakistani isolate). Curcumin has shown an average IC50 of 5.3mM against promastigotes of various leishmanial strains which is much lower as compared with pentamidine that is one of the basic treatments against leishmaniasis. The main draw back attributed to these assays performed on promastigotes is the heterogeneity of results compared with those obtained with intracellular amastigotes or with in vivo effect. We also tested activity of curcumin against axenic amastigote like cells (AALC) of L. major strain (MHOM/PK/88/DESTO). Curcumin proves to be far more potent then pentamidine against AALC which further strengthens the fact about its leishmaniacidal activity
