A Preliminary Study of the Application of Electromagnetic Conductivity Meter on Soil Properties of Paddy Cultivation Areas at Wue Village, Jantho, Aceh Besar District, Indonesia
Conventional soil sampling is time consuming and requires meticulous laboratory analysis. Hence, mapping of soil apparent in respect to electrical conductivity (ECa) has been developed to identify areas of contrasting soil properties. Such ECa values are represent measures of soil properties. The sensor system, GF Instrument model CMD-4 were used to analyze soil physical properties. This system consists of three important parts, ECa sensor, data logger and Global Positioning System (DGPS) receiver. This research was aimed to evaluate the relationships between ECa and soil properties as well as the yield of rice (paddy) in paddy\u27s farming fields. One study site was chosen. The sensor was pulled through a plotted area of 0.25 km2. The distribution map of ECa was developed to identify the contrast of ECa. More than 100 ECa of data points were collected in 3-hour for the large plot. The data was later transferred to a notebook computer for generation of ECa maps using Surfer 11 software. According to the data analyses, field and ECa showed positive correlation. The average values of ECa are significantly different between hilly area and drainage canal area signifying differences in soil structure. Soil ECa could provide a measure of the spatial differences associated with soil physical and chemical properties, which for paddy soil may be a measure of soil suitability for crop growth and its productivity. Kajian Teknis Penirisan Tambang Nikel Laterit Mengunakan Metode Mine Dewatering
Air akan menjadi sumber masalah dalam area penambangan, sehingga perlu dilakukan penanganan yang baik agar tidak mengakibatkan kerugian bagi Perusahaan dan masyarakat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jumlah pompa yang dibutuhkan dan waktu kerja pompa pada area penambangan nikel laterit di morowali Sulawesi tengah. Metode yang dipakai yaitu mine dewatering system. Pengamatan di lapangan terlihat adanya catchment area yang luas dan berada di sekitar pit penambangan dengan luasan 37,6Ha. Curah hujan rata-rata maksimum pada lokasi penelitian yaitu 23,82 mm/hari. Curah hujan rencana diambil periode ulang dua tahun sebesar 22,74 mm/hari dan intensitas hujan terbesar 7,88 mm/jam. Besarnya curah hujan maksimal bulanan pertahun yaitu 1.286,00 mm sehingga diketahui besarnya air limpasan yang akan masuk ke sump 483,56 m3/bulan atau 17,26 m3/hari dengan ketentuan 1 bulan sama dengan 28 hari. Kemampuan pompa berdasarkan head total pompa 48,67 m, dan kemampuan hasil koreksi pompa yaitu 0,15 m3/detik. Dibutuhkan empat pompa dengan jenis yang sama dengan waktu kerja efektif 8,5 jam/hari. Debit air yang akan masuk ke dalam parit 0,47 m3/detik dan parit yang akan dibuat harus mampu mengalirkan air, maka parit dibuat berbentuk trapesium. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa dibutuhkan 4 unit pompa yang bekerja selama 8,5 jam perhari, dan dibuatkan kolam pengendapan untuk penetralan air

Cross Recurrence Plot Based Synchronization of Time Series
The method of recurrence plots is extended to the cross recurrence plots
(CRP), which among others enables the study of synchronization or time
differences in two time series. This is emphasized in a distorted main diagonal
in the cross recurrence plot, the line of synchronization (LOS). A
non-parametrical fit of this LOS can be used to rescale the time axis of the
two data series (whereby one of it is e.g. compressed or stretched) so that
they are synchronized. An application of this method to geophysical sediment
core data illustrates its suitability for real data. The rock magnetic data of
two different sediment cores from the Makarov Basin can be adjusted to each

Proses Berpikir Siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama Dalam Memecahkan Masalah Matematika Berdasarkan Langkah-langkah Polya Ditinjau Dari Adversity Quotient
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjelaskan proses berpikir dan menganalisis kesulitan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika berdasarkan pengukuran Polya ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient (AQ). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskirptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa dari kelas IX SMP N 1 Banda Aceh tediri dari tiga siswa. Pemilihan subjek penelitian menggunakan metode purposive sampling dan berdasarkan tingkatan AQ (climber, camper, dan quitter) dan komunikasi (lisan dan tertulis). Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara berbasis tugas, dan triangulasi untuk mengecek validitas data. Data dianalisis menggunakan konsep dari Miles dan Huberman: yaitu tahap pengurangan data, presentasi data, dan kesimpulan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Proses berpikir dari subjek climber yaitu secara asimilasi dalam memahami, merencanakan penyelesaian, .serta mengecek kembali; (2) Subjek camper juga berpikir secara asimilasi pada tahap memahami masalah, merencanakan penyelesaian, dan mengecek kembali; (3) subjek quitter berpikir secara akomodasi dalam memahami masalah dan menyelesaikan masalah
Comparing modern and Pleistocene ENSO-like influences in NW Argentina using nonlinear time series analysis methods
Higher variability in rainfall and river discharge could be of major
importance in landslide generation in the north-western Argentine Andes. Annual
layered (varved) deposits of a landslide dammed lake in the Santa Maria Basin
(26 deg S, 66 deg W) with an age of 30,000 14C years provide an archive of
precipitation variability during this time. The comparison of these data with
present-day rainfall observations tests the hypothesis that increased rainfall
variability played a major role in landslide generation. A potential cause of
such variability is the El Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The causal link
between ENSO and local rainfall is quantified by using a new method of
nonlinear data analysis, the quantitative analysis of cross recurrence plots
(CRP). This method seeks similarities in the dynamics of two different
processes, such as an ocean-atmosphere oscillation and local rainfall. Our
analysis reveals significant similarities in the statistics of both modern and
palaeo-precipitation data. The similarities in the data suggest that an
ENSO-like influence on local rainfall was present at around 30,000 14C years
ago. Increased rainfall, which was inferred from a lake balance modeling in a
previous study, together with ENSO-like cyclicities could help to explain the
clustering of landslides at around 30,000 14C years ago.Comment: 11 pages, 9 figure
Prototype Palang Pintu Otomatis pada Jalur Lintasan KeretaApi Berbasis Mikrokontroler
Pengontrolan berbasis mikrokontroler merupakan suatu teknologi elektronika yang memungkinkan suatu sistem dapat dikontrol secara otomatis. Semakin meningkatkannya manusia dalam melakukan perjalanan, terutama dengan menggunakan transportasi darat berupa kereta api. Maka tingkat keselamatan dalam perjalanan perlu diperhatikan. Pada model transportasi kereta api, tingat kecelakaan di palang pintu perlintasan sangat tinggi, disebabkan tidak adanya palang pintu atau palang pintu masih dioperasikan secara manual. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi mikrokontroler, dibuat suatu prototype pada palang pintu perlintasan kereta api yang akan menutup dan membuka secara otomatis. Prototype ini ditempatkan di pinggir rel kereta api, jika kereta api akan melewati perlintasan maka sensor suara akan medeteksi dan mengirimkan sinyal ke kendali mikrokontroler untuk menutup palang pintu dan menyalakan indikator merah. Jika sensor suara mengalami kegagalan, maka sensor infra merah yang difungsikan sebagai cadangan akan menggantikan fungsi dari sensor suara. Setelah kereta api melewati pintu perlintasan, sensor ketiga yaitu sensor infra merah aktif untuk mengirim sinyal ke kendali mikrokontroler untuk membuka palang pintu dan menyalakan indikator hijau pada traffic light
