    Technical Report on Deploying a highly secured OpenStack Cloud Infrastructure using BradStack as a Case Study

    Cloud computing has emerged as a popular paradigm and an attractive model for providing a reliable distributed computing model.it is increasing attracting huge attention both in academic research and industrial initiatives. Cloud deployments are paramount for institution and organizations of all scales. The availability of a flexible, free open source cloud platform designed with no propriety software and the ability of its integration with legacy systems and third-party applications are fundamental. Open stack is a free and opensource software released under the terms of Apache license with a fragmented and distributed architecture making it highly flexible. This project was initiated and aimed at designing a secured cloud infrastructure called BradStack, which is built on OpenStack in the Computing Laboratory at the University of Bradford. In this report, we present and discuss the steps required in deploying a secured BradStack Multi-node cloud infrastructure and conducting Penetration testing on OpenStack Services to validate the effectiveness of the security controls on the BradStack platform. This report serves as a practical guideline, focusing on security and practical infrastructure related issues. It also serves as a reference for institutions looking at the possibilities of implementing a secured cloud solution.Comment: 38 pages, 19 figures

    Investigations were carried out to establish the qualitative and quantitative differences in the composition of proteins and essential aminoacids of green peas in pods and of dried husked cowpeas. On studying the alterations occurring on the effect of boiling in hot water the following observations were made. Total dry matter content was lower and ash content was higher in the green cow peas in pods than in the dried husked cowpeas whereas their protein content was nearly the same. On the effect of boiling the moisture contents of both the green and the dried cowpeas increased whereas their total dry matter contents, ash and protein contents decreased. The amount of water uptake by dried peas was a multiple of that of fresh green samples. Dried pess contained more histidine, isoleucine + leucine, lysine, phenylalanine and valine but less arginine than the green cowpeas in pods whereas the amounts of methionine and threonine were the same. On boiling the green peas, the amount of arginine, histidine, isoleucine + leucine, lysine and valine decreased whereas the amounts of methionine, phenylalanine and threonine increased. The proteins of the boiled dried peas contained more histidine, phenylalanine, threonine and valine than those observed in the untreated peas; the amount of isoleucine + leucine decreased whereas the amounts of arginine and methionine did not change on boiling. Untersuchungen wurden durchgeführt, um die qualitativen und quantitativen Unterschiede in der Protein- und essentielle Aminosäure-zusammensetzung von Grünerbsen in Hülsen und von abgekörnten getrockneten Weisserbsen festzustellen. Beim Studium der auf Einwirkung des Kochens in heissem Wasser stattfindenden änderungen wurden die folgenden Befunde wahrgenommen. Der Gesamtgehalt an Trockensubstanz von Grünerbsen in Hülsen war niedriger, während der Aschengehalt höher als die der getrockneten abgekörnten Erbsen. Der Proteingehalt war beinahe gleich in beiden Erbsensorten. Auf Einwirkung des Kochens erhöhte sich der Wassergehalt und verminderte sich der Gesamtgehalt an Trockensubstanz und an Asche und Protein in beiden Erbsensorten. Die Wasseraufnahme der getrockneten Erbsen war mehrmals höher als die der frischen Grünerbsen. Getrocknete Erbsen enthielten mehr Histidin, Isoleucin+ Leucin, Lysin, Phenylalanin und Valin, jedoch weniger Arginin als die Muster von Grünerbsen, während der Gehalt an Methionin und Threonin war derselbe in beiden Erbsensorten. Beim Kochen der Grünerbsen verminderte sich der Gehalt an Arginin, Histidin, Isoleucin + Leucin, Lysin und Valin, während ihr Gehalt an Methionin, Phenylalanin und Threonin nahm zu. Die Proteine der gekochten getrockneten Erbsen enthielten mehr Histidin, Phenylalanin, Threonin und Valin als die Proteine der unbehandelten Erbsenmuster. Der Gehalt an Lysin und Isoleucin + Leucin verminderte sich, während die Mengen von Arginin und Methionin blieben unverändert

    Detection and segmentation the affected brain using ThingSpeak platform based on IoT cloud analysis

    The world has accelerated around a new industrial revolution called the Internet of Things, as this technology is expected to enter all aspects of industrial life, commercial and civil applications. The Internet of Things stands for highly important applications in the world of medical applications, which is the access to linking all medical clinics in the world into a single network capable of analyzing patient data and presenting it to medical professionals anywhere in the world. One of the medical applications in the Internet of Things is the discovery of a healthy human brain. This work proposes a health care system based on medical image analysis processes in the programmable ThingSpeak platform using MATLAB built into the platform within the cloud. The analysis is done using the MATLAB program within the Windows operating system and then the analysis is performed within ThingSpeak platform. The analysis includes classification process by using SVM classifier linear kernel in which we achieved 99.4% classification rate as well as using RBF kernel, which achieved 98.6% classification accuracy in classifying infected brains from healthy ones and the work was supported by cross validation technology to ensure effective classification accuracy. The patient brain is segmented then the tumor segment is isolated, its area is calculated, and the tumor boundaries are found, based on the k-mean technique, to support the specialist doctor when performing the analysis process in the cloud environment. Through this work we achieved a match in the analysis processes within the local environment, and ThingSpeak platform environment by 100%, and in order to support our work, we have automated the analysis, visualization and data transfer processes within the cloud and MATLAB environment

    Chief Complaint of Dental Pediatric Patients Attending Pediatric Dental Clinic, Dentistry Faculty, Tishk International University

    Purpose: to assess the common Chief Compliant CC of patients attending the Pedodontics Department, Dental Faculty. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was carried out, including 300 records of children attending the Pedodontics Department. The patients included in the study range from (1 – 13) years. The various CCs were categorized as follows pain, decay, checkup, extraction, and others. The common CC and the average patient attendance were assessed according to the age group, gender, and types of CC at their first dental visit. The statistical package for the social sciences program (SPSS, version 25) using frequency distribution and Chi-square was recording the data. Results: The most common CC was “Pain” (56.7%). Patients attending the dental clinic were significantly different regarding the gender Male (53.3%) and female (46.7). The relation between CCs and various age groups were significant, with a relative (P-Value = 0.01). Conclusion: Children’s averaged for their first dental visit mostly at (6 – 9) years, complaining of “Pain” as being defined as the most common CCs all over the age groups included in the study. Parents need education on the subject of the importance of early child’s visit to the dentist

    Uloga kompleksa germanija s L-cysteinom i α-tokoferolom kao stimulatora antioksidativnog obrambenog sustava štakora izloženih gama-zračenju

    This study was conducted to evaluate the potency of the newly prepared germanium L-cysteine α-tocopherol complex [germanium dichloro tetrakis (L-cysteinyl-α-tocopherol amide) dichloride] as a protective agent against γ-irradiation-induced free radicals production and liver toxicity. Male Swiss albino rats were injected intraperitoneally with the germanium complex in a concentration of 75 mg kg-1 body mass per dose, for 6 successive doses, last dose administered twenty minutes pre-exposure to a single dose of whole body γ-irradiation of 6.5 Gy. Lipid peroxidation (LPx), nitric oxide (NO), glutathione (GSH) levels, and activity of the antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) were estimated in blood and liver, and blood total protein, cholesterol, triglyceride and α-tocopherol content were estimated as well. The results revealed that administration of germanium complex pre-irradiation resulted in significant (p < 0.001) improvement compared to the irradiated group in the level of hepatic and blood LPx. Hepatic GSH revealed a significant increase (p < 0.001), while its level showed no significant variation in blood. Also, the level of NO in blood and liver increased significantly (p < 0.001). On the other hand, pretreatment with the germanium complex normalized the activities of SOD, GPx and CAT in blood and liver when compared to the irradiated group. The study also documents a marked decrease in the blood triglyceride and cholesterol (p < 0.001); and significant increase (p < 0.001) of -tocopherol and total protein contents in blood. These biochemical changes were associated with marked improvement of histological status. Therefore, the germanium L-cysteine α-tocopherol complex may be a good candidate for ameliorating the changes induced by irradiation, which indicates the beneficial radio-protective role of this antioxidant agent.U radu je procjenjivan kompleks germanija s L-cisteinom i α-tokoferolom [germanijev diklortetrakis (L-cisteinil-α-tokoferol amid) diklorid] kao zaštitno sredstvo protiv slobodnih radikala induciranih γ-zračenjem hepatotoksičnosti. Mužjacima švicarskih albino štakora davan je intraperitonealno kompleks germanija, u 6 sukcesivnih doza po 75 mg kg-1 tjelesne mase, posljednja doza dana je dvadeset minuta prije izlaganja cijelog organizma jednokratnoj dozi γ-ozračivanja od 6,5 Gy. U krvi i jetri praćena je razina lipidne peroksidacije (LPx), dušikovog(II) oksida (NO), glutationa (GSH), aktivnost antioksidativnih enzima glutation peroksidaze (GPx), superoksid dismutaze (SOD) i katalaze (CAT), te količina ukupnih proteina u krvi, kolesterola, triglicerida i α-tokoferola. Rezultati su pokazali da je primjena germanijevog kompleksa značajno (p < 0,001) poboljšala koncentraciju jetrenih i krvnih LPx. Koncentracija GSH u jetri je značajno porasla (p < 0,001), dok se njegova razina u krvi nije značajno promijenila. Koncentracija NO u krvi i jetri značajno se smanjila (p < 0,001). S druge strane, prethodna obrada s kompleksom germanija normalizirala je aktivnost SOD, GPx i CAT u krvi i jetri u odnosu na ozračenu skupinu. Istraživanja su također pokazala značajno smanjenje triglicerida i kolesterola (p < 0,001) i značajno povećanje (p < 0,001) alfa-tokoferola i ukupnih proteina u krvi. Te biokemijske promjene su povezane s izraženim poboljšanjem histoloških promjena u odnosu na ozračenu skupinu. Opisani kompleks germanija mogao bi se kao antioksidativno sredstvo potencijalno upotrijebiti za spriječavanje promjena uzrokovanih zračenjem

    ASSOCIATION BETWEEN TOXOPLASMA GONDII INFECTION IN WOMEN AND THE PRESENCE OF CARDIOLIPIN AND PHOSPHOLIPID ANTIBODIES

    IgG and IgM cardiolipin and phospholipid antibodies were measured, by an ELISA technique, in the sera of patients with toxoplasmosis. Immunological methods for autoantibodies had been applied by ELISA. Regarding Anti-cardiolipin it was revealed that 24.7% of toxoplasmosis cases versus 0% of control group showed significant positive result (P=0.0412) . Whereas, 12.5% of toxoplasmosis patients and 12% of healthy controls had anti-cardiolipin antibodies, with no significant differences (P=0.554) between these two groups

    Microcontroller Servomotor for Maximum Effective Power Point for Solar Cell System

    In this paper a Maximum Power point (MPP) tracking algorithm is developed using dual-axis servomotor feedback tracking control system. An efficient and accurate servomotor system is used to increase the system efficiency and reduces the solar cell system coast. The proposed automatic servo control system based on PIC microcontroller which is used to control the photovoltaic (PV) modules. This servo system will track the sun rays in order to get MPP during the day using direct radiation. A photo cell is used to sense the direct sun radiation and feedback a signal to the PIC microcontroller, and then the decisions are made through the microcontroller and send a command to the servomotor system to achieve maximum power generation. The proposed system is demonstrated through simulation results. Finally, using the proposed system based on PIC microcontroller, the system will be more efficient, minimum cost, and maximum power transfer is obtained
