Bounds on the force between black holes
We treat the problem of N interacting, axisymmetric black holes and obtain
two relations among physical parameters of the system including the force
between the black holes. The first relation involves the total mass, the
angular momenta, the distances and the forces between the black holes. The
second one relates the angular momentum and area of each black hole with the

Regularity and stability of electrostatic solutions in Kaluza-Klein theory
We investigate the family of electrostatic spherically symmetric solutions of
the five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory. Besides black holes and wormholes, a
new class of geodesically complete solutions is identified. A monopole
perturbation is carried out, enabling us to prove analytically the stability of

Electrostatic solutions in Kaluza-Klein theory: geometry and stability
We investigate the family of electrostatic spherically symmetric solutions of
the five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory. Both charged and neutral cases are
considered. The analysis of the solutions, through their geometrical
properties, reveals the existence of black holes, wormholes and naked
singularities. A new class of regular solutions is identified. A monopole
perturbation study of all these solutions is carried out, enabling us to prove
analytically the stability of large classes of solutions. In particular, the
black hole solutions are stable, while for the regular solutions the stability

Comparison of vascular and respiratory effects of endothelin-1 in the pig
The haemodynamic and respiratory responses caused by i.v. administration of endothelin-1 (ET-1) (20–100 pmol/kg) were studied in anaesthetized spontaneously breathing pigs. Intravenous bolus administration of synthetic ET-1 (40–100 pmol/kg) caused a transient decrease followed by a long-lasting increase in mean pulmonary arterial pressure and dose dependent vasoconstriction both in the systemic and pulmonary circulations. The effect on pulmonary arterial pressure was biphasic, with an initial transient fall followed by a long-lasting dose dependent increase. A biphasic response of the systemic mean arterial pressure was demonstrated only at a high dose of ET-1 (100 pmol/kg). ET-1 administration did not significantly change breathing pattern or phasic vagal input, but caused a significant decrease in passive compliance. Passive resistances or active compliance and resistances of the respiratory system were not modified. These results suggest that in the pig ET-1 is a more potent constrictor of vascular than of bronchial smooth muscle. All stationary axi-symmetric local solutions of topologically massive gravity
We classify all stationary axi-symmetric solutions of topologically massive
gravity into Einstein, Schr\"odinger, warped and generic solutions. We
construct explicitly all local solutions in the first three sectors and present
an algorithm for the numerical construction of all local solutions in the
generic sector. The only input for this algorithm is the value of one constant
of motion if the solution has an analytic centre, and three constants of motion
otherwise. We present several examples, including soliton solutions that

Killing Vector Fields in Three Dimensions: A Method to Solve Massive Gravity Field Equations
Killing vector fields in three dimensions play important role in the
construction of the related spacetime geometry. In this work we show that when
a three dimensional geometry admits a Killing vector field then the Ricci
tensor of the geometry is determined in terms of the Killing vector field and
its scalars. In this way we can generate all products and covariant derivatives
at any order of the ricci tensor. Using this property we give ways of solving
the field equations of Topologically Massive Gravity (TMG) and New Massive
Gravity (NMG) introduced recently. In particular when the scalars of the
Killing vector field (timelike, spacelike and null cases) are constants then
all three dimensional symmetric tensors of the geometry, the ricci and einstein
tensors, their covariant derivatives at all orders, their products of all
orders are completely determined by the Killing vector field and the metric.
Hence the corresponding three dimensional metrics are strong candidates of
solving all higher derivative gravitational field equations in three

Generalized Massive Gravity and Galilean Conformal Algebra in two dimensions
Galilean conformal algebra (GCA) in two dimensions arises as contraction of
two copies of the centrally extended Virasoro algebra ( with ). The central charges of
GCA can be expressed in term of Virasoro central charges. For finite and
non-zero GCA central charges, the Virasoro central charges must behave as
asymmetric form . We propose that, the bulk
description for 2d GCA with asymmetric central charges is given by general
massive gravity (GMG) in three dimensions. It can be seen that, if the
gravitational Chern-Simons coupling behaves as of order
O() or (), the central charges
of GMG have the above dependence. So, in non-relativistic scaling
limit , we calculated GCA parameters and finite
