A Simple, accurate and precise method was developed and validated for the determination of flucloxacillin sodium in its tablet dosage form. The separation was eluted on xterra c18 column (4.6x150mm, 5micron) using a mixture of octane buffer and methanol as mobile phase in a ratio of (30:70) which was pumped through column at a flow rate of  1ml/min. Optimised wavelength for flucloxacillin was 237nm, the retention time was 2.305minutes and the percentage purity was found to be 98.14%. System suitability parameters such as theoretical plate and tailing factor for flucloxacillin sodium was found to be 2991.64 and 1.90 respectively, the proposed method was validated as per ICH guidelines (ICH, Q2 AND (R1)) the method was found to be linear at the concentration range of 20-100µg/ml and the correlation coefficient (r2) value was found to be 0.9994 percentage RSD for precision was 0.9% and percentage RSD for ruggedness was 0.5%. The precision study was precise, robust and repeatable. The LOD and LOQ values are 2.98 and 9.98 respectively. Hence the suggested RP-HPLC method can be used for routine analysis for flucloxacillin sodium in tablet dosage form

    WEED REMOVING MACHINE FOR AGRICULTURE

The effective design of weed removing machine is to minimize the time taken for removing weed present between the growing plants. The vertical adjustment is to increase and decrease the height of the secondary rotating shaft and the rotary blades. It is mainly focused to increase the growth rate of plants. The horizontal distance can be adjusted by increasing the distance between the individual blades of the machine. The blades are rotated in clockwise direction with respect to the weed elimination. The depth of the removal is controlled by the handle. The power is transmitted from engine to the primary shaft. The primary shaft is connected to secondary shaft. The cam shape of shaft is to transmit the power to the blade by using chain drive. The specification of design is the number of blades, which can be increased and decreased with respect to our requirement. The compact design is very helpful for in the field of agriculture

Coastal water characteristics along Tamil Nadu, east coast of India during pre-northeast monsoon period

308-318A study was carried out to characterize the coastal waters along Tamil Nadu during the pre-northeast monsoon period. A significant spatial variation in coastal water characteristics with respect to physico-chemical parameters was observed, indicating the different level of anthropogenic influence at different study sites. Sampling locations near to the mega city Chennai (Ennore and Pattinapakkam) showed relatively high concentrations of almost all the nutrients due to significant anthropogenic inputs in terms of house hold wastes and industrial effluents through the Adyar and Cooum rivers. A clear decreasing trend in nitrate and phosphate was observed from the northern to southern region of the study area, typifying the signature of pollution in the northern regions. Positive correlations among all the nutrients indicated their common source of origin through external input by the river estuaries and backwaters. Cluster analysis clearly established the presence of a polluted zone (near to Chennai), a buffering zone (Kovalam and Kalpakkam) and a least effected environment in the southern region (Marakanam, Poombukar, Pondicherry and Parangipettai) of the study area

Primary Cardiac Sarcoma: Clinical Characteristics and Prognostic Factors over the Past 2 Decades

Background: Primary cardiac sarcomas (PCS) are extremely rare malignant tumors involving the heart. Only isolated case reports have been described in the literature over different periods of time. This pathology has been associated with a dismal prognosis and given its rarity; treatment options are very limited. Furthermore, there are contrasting data about the effectiveness of current treatment modalities in improving the survival of patients with PCS, including surgical resection which is the mainstay of therapy. There is a paucity of data on the epidemiological characteristics of PCS. This study has the objective of investigating the epidemiologic characteristics, survival outcomes, and independent prognostic factors of PCS. Methods: A total of 362 patients were ultimately registered in our study from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. The study period was from 2000 to 2017. Demographics such as clinical characteristics, overall mortality (OM), and PCS-specific mortality (CSM) were taken into account. A p value of p p = 0.033); and PCS with distant metastases (HR = 1.888, 95% CI 1.389–2.566, p p = 0.025) had a better OM (HR = 0.606, 95% CI 0.465–0.791, p p p p = 0.008) and those who underwent surgery (HR = 0.581, 95% CI 0.436–0.774, p p p = 0.001) were found to have a higher OM in the multivariate analyses adjusting for covariates). Lower OM was found in patients with rhabdomyosarcoma (HR = 0.364, 95% CI 0.154–0.86, p = 0.021) and widowed patients (HR = 0.506, 95% CI 0.263–0.977, p = 0.042). Multivariate cox proportional hazard regression analyses of CSM also revealed higher mortality of the same groups, and lower mortality in patients with Rhabdomyosarcoma. Conclusion: In this United States population-based retrospective cohort study using the SEER database, we found that cardiac rhabdomyosarcoma was associated with the lowest CSM and OM. Furthermore, as expected, age and advanced disease at diagnosis were independent factors predicting poor prognosis. Surgical resection of the primary tumor showed lower CSM and OM in the crude analysis but when adjusted for covariates in the multivariate analysis, it did not significantly impact the overall mortality or the cancer-specific mortality. These findings allow for treating clinicians to recognize patients that should be referred to palliative/hospice care at the time of diagnosis and avoid any surgical interventions as they did not show any differences in mortality. Surgical resection, adjuvant chemotherapy, and/or radiation in patients with poor prognoses should be reserved as palliative measures rather than an attempt to cure the disease

Chromone: A valid scaffold in medicinal chemistry

Chromones are a group of naturally occurring compounds that are ubiquitous in nature, especially in plants. The word chromone is derived from the Greek word chroma, meaning “color”, which point out that many chromone derivatives can exhibit a diversity of colors. This work was supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Portugal (projects PTDC/QUI-QUI/113687/2009 and PEst-C/QUI/UI0081/2013).
