The Implementation Of Sponsorship In Corporate Branding: A Case Study Of Turkish Airlines
The concept of sponsorship has evolved over the years from simply being a philanthropic activity to one of the key corporate communication and marketing communications strategies. This can merely be seen by looking at the expenditure of multinational corporations’ allocated budget figures for sponsorships. In particular, the biggest investment has and still goes to sport sponsorship deals as they have wide range of audience reach and mostly multi-national reach. One of the most important events is the Olympics, where millions of pounds are invested for sponsorship deals. Up until today, various studies have been conducted on to pinpoint the effect of sponsorship from different perspectives. Despite this, there is a dearth of study in terms of qualitative perspective, especially from the perspective of corporate communication managers’ ‘decision - making’ mechanism and procedure. To accomplish and contribute to the literature, this study uses Turkish Airline’s ‘Globally Yours’ campaign as a case study
Exact nonequilibrium dynamics of finite-temperature Tonks-Girardeau gases
Describing finite-temperature nonequilibrium dynamics of interacting
many-particle systems is a notoriously challenging problem in quantum many-body
physics. Here we provide an exact solution to this problem for a system of
strongly interacting bosons in one dimension in the Tonks-Girardeau regime of
infinitely strong repulsive interactions. Using the Fredholm determinant
approach and the Bose-Fermi mapping we show how the problem can be reduced to a
single-particle basis, wherein the finite-temperature effects enter the
solution via an effective "dressing" of the single-particle wavefunctions by
the Fermi-Dirac occupation factors. We demonstrate the utility of our approach
and its computational efficiency in two nontrivial out-of-equilibrium
scenarios: collective breathing mode oscillations in a harmonic trap and
collisional dynamics in the Newton's cradle setting involving real-time
evolution in a periodic Bragg potential.Comment: Final published version in PRA style; moved Supplemental Material

Collective many-body bounce in the breathing-mode oscillations of a Tonks-Girardeau gas
We analyse the breathing-mode oscillations of a harmonically quenched
Tonks-Giradeau (TG) gas using an exact finite-temperature dynamical theory. We
predict a striking collective manifestation of impenetrability---a collective
many-body bounce effect. The effect, while being invisible in the evolution of
the in-situ density profile of the gas, can be revealed through a nontrivial
periodic narrowing of its momentum distribution, taking place at twice the rate
of the fundamental breathing-mode frequency. We identify physical regimes for
observing the many-body bounce and construct the respective nonequilibrium
phase diagram as a function of the quench strength and the initial temperature
of the gas. We also develop a finite-temperature hydrodynamic theory of the TG
gas, wherein the many-body bounce is explained by an increased thermodynamic
pressure of the gas during the isentropic compression, which acts as a
potential barrier at the inner turning points of the breathing cycle.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, and Supplemental Material. arXiv admin note:

Higher-order aberrations following wavefront-guided photorefractive keratectomy and laser in situ keratomileusis
Background: We aimed to evaluate higher-order aberrations (HOAs) following wavefront-guided photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in patients with myopia and myopic astigmatism.
Methods: This retrospective observational case-control study included patients who underwent wavefront-guided PRK (40 eyes of 20 patients) or LASIK (40 eyes of 20 patients) between August 2018 and November 2018 at the refractive surgery unit of Kayseri City Hospital Eye Clinic, Turkey. The corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), manifest refraction, corneal topography, and HOAs were evaluated preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively in all patients.
Results: The mean age ± standard deviation (SD) was 27.13 ± 5.54 years and 29.10 ± 4.38 years in the PRK and LASIK groups, respectively (P = 0.06). Both groups had a mean CDVA of 1.00. The mean ± SD of spherical and spherical equivalent values was -2.09 ± 1.56 diopter (D) and -3.03 ± 1.72 D in the PRK group and -2.23 ± 1.69 D and -3.35 ± 1.71 D in the LASIK group, respectively (P = 0.58). When the preoperative and postoperative HOAs and root mean square (RMS) values (for a 6-mm pupil diameter) were compared in the PRK group, a significant difference was found in vertical coma and total RMS values (P = 0.003 and P ˂ 0.001, respectively); in the LASIK group, there was a significant difference in preoperative and postoperative vertical coma and total RMS values (P = 0.0.001 and P ˂ 0.001, respectively). There was no significant difference in preoperative and postoperative vertical coma values between the two groups (P = 0.735 and P = 0.583, respectively).
Conclusions: In terms of HOAs, total RMS values decreased significantly and vertical coma values increased significantly at 3 months postoperatively in both PRK and LASIK groups. However, there were no differences between the two groups
YPTB3816 of 'Yersinia pseudotuberculosis' strain IP32953 is a virulence-related metallo-oligopeptidase
Background: although bacterial peptidases are known to be produced by various microorganisms, including pathogenic bacteria, their role in bacterial physiology is not fully understood. In particular, oligopeptidases are thought to be mainly involved in degradation of short peptides e.g. leader peptides released during classical protein secretion pathways. The aim of this study was to investigate effects of inactivation of an oligopeptidase encoding gene opdA gene of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis on bacterial properties in vivo and in vitro, and to test dependence of the enzymatic activity of the respective purified enzyme on the presence of different divalent cations.
Results: in this study we found that oligopeptidase OpdA of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis is required for bacterial virulence, whilst knocking out the respective gene did not have any effect on bacterial viability or growth rate in vitro. In addition, we studied enzymatic properties of this enzyme after expression and purification from E. coli. Using an enzyme depleted of contaminant divalent cations and different types of fluorescently labelled substrates, we found strong dependence of its activity on the presence of particular cations. Unexpectedly, Zn2+ showed stimulatory activity only at low concentrations, but inhibited the enzyme at higher concentrations. In contrast, Co2+, Ca2+ and Mn2+ stimulated activity at all concentrations tested, whilst Mg2+ revealed no effect on the enzyme activity at all concentrations used.
Conclusions: the results of this study provide valuable contribution to the investigation of bacterial peptidases in general, and that of metallo-oligopeptidases in particular. This is the first study demonstrating that opdA in Yersinia pseudotuberculsosis is required for pathogenicity. The data reported are important for better understanding of the role of OpdA-like enzymes in pathogenesis in bacterial infections. Characterisation of this protein may serve as a basis for the development of novel antibacterials based on specific inhibition of this peptidase activity

Transverse Electronic Transport through DNA Nucleotides with Functionalized Graphene Electrodes
Graphene nanogaps and nanopores show potential for the purpose of electrical
DNA sequencing, in particular because single-base resolution appears to be
readily achievable. Here, we evaluated from first principles the advantages of
a nanogap setup with functionalized graphene edges. To this end, we employed
density functional theory and the non-equilibrium Green's function method to
investigate the transverse conductance properties of the four nucleotides
occurring in DNA when located between the opposing functionalized graphene
electrodes. In particular, we determined the electrical tunneling current
variation as a function of the applied bias and the associated differential
conductance at a voltage which appears suitable to distinguish between the four
nucleotides. Intriguingly, we observe for one of the nucleotides a negative
differential resistance effect.Comment: 19 pages, 7 figure
