Inventory is something that cannot be avoided by organizations. Fluctuation of demand and the unreliability of supplier make the organization needs inventory. The problem of inventory can be happened in service organizations. One of them is hospital. Hospital has a functional unit to manage the drugs and other medical devices such as disposable and laboratory material which is called Pharmacy Installation. This unit is responsible to do all of pharmacy services in the hospital. The problem that is happened in Pharmacy Installation of RSUD Pariaman where the inventory level is too high. Inventory is needed to keep the service level to the customers but it also can increase the cost of investment and holding the items if it is kept too much. Thus, there must be a policy to keep the inventory fit with the demand but still efficient. The management policy of inventory in Pharmacy Department of RSUD Pariaman will be conducted based on ABC analysis. Proposed inventory policy is determined by using Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model under condition permissible delay in payment. This model is fit with the actual condition which supplier provided a certain period to complete the payment of the order. This permissible time can be used by pharmacy department to get benefit. Cost of capital as a part of holding cost is separated from holding cost itself and calculate as interest charge as many as 12,36%. There is no interest of investment that can be earned by Pharmacy Department (0%) because pharmacy department is a part of a public hospital (government instance). This model is modified so it can be used for multiple item and completed with the calculation of safety stock to anticipate the fluctuation of demand. Determination of optimal order interval is conducted by using software Lingo 13.0. The result of ABC classification shows that there are 155 items (14%) belonged to items-A, 226 items (20,5%) belonged to items-B, 676 items (61,2%) belonged to items-C, and the others about 47 items (4,3%) have no demand and it is classified to items-D. The result of proposed inventory policy shows that the total cost of inventory of proposed policy for IDR 97.841.632,75 which is lower 55% compared with the total cost of inventory by using current policy for IDR 219.511.519,45. The proposed policy cannot be implemented directly but it needs modifications such in term of box size that will influence the order quantity and order interval and number of order, which in the end it will influence the total cost of inventory. However, stay the proposed policy provided the lower cost because the model has considered the delay time in payment. Key words: EOQ, delay in payments, inventory, multiple item, safety stock

Emergence of supercontraction in regenerated silkworm (Bombyx mori) silk fibers

    Get PDF
The conditions required for the emergence of supercontraction in regenerated silkworm (Bombyx mori) silk fibers are assessed through an experimental approach that combines the spinning of regenerated fibers with controlled properties and their characterization by 13C solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Both supercontracting and non-supercontracting regenerated fibers are produced using the straining flow spinning (SFS) technique from 13C labeled cocoons. The short-range microstructure of the fibers is assessed through 13C CP/MAS in air and 13C DD/MAS in water, and the main microstructural features are identified and quantified. The mechanical properties of the regenerated fibers and their microstructures are compared with those of natural silkworm silk. The combined analysis highlights two possible key elements as responsible for the emergence of supercontraction: (1) the existence of an upper and a lower limit of the amorphous phase compatible with supercontraction, and (2) the existence of two ordered phases, β-sheet A and B, which correspond to different packing arrangements of the protein chains.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad MAT2016-75544- C2-1-RMinisterio de Economía y Competitividad MAT2016-79832-RMinisterio de Economía y Competitividad DPI2016-78887-C3-1-RConsejería de Educación Comunidad de Madrid NEUROCENTRO-B2017/BMD-3760Ministerio de Educación, Ciencia y Cultura JP26248050Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad DPI2016-78887-C3-1-

The association between family and community social capital and health risk behaviours in young people: an integrative review

Background: Health risk behaviours known to result in poorer outcomes in adulthood are generally established in late childhood and adolescence. These ‘risky’ behaviours include smoking, alcohol and illicit drug use and sexual risk taking. While the role of social capital in the establishment of health risk behaviours in young people has been explored, to date, no attempt has been made to consolidate the evidence in the form of a review. Thus, this integrative review was undertaken to identify and synthesise research findings on the role and impact of family and community social capital on health risk behaviours in young people and provide a consolidated evidence base to inform multi-sectorial policy and practice.

Methods: Key electronic databases were searched (i.e. ASSIA, CINAHL, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Embase, Medline, PsycINFO, Sociological Abstracts) for relevant studies and this was complemented by hand searching. Inclusion/exclusion criteria were applied and data was extracted from the included studies. Heterogeneity in study design and the outcomes assessed precluded meta-analysis/meta-synthesis; the results are therefore presented in narrative form.

Results: Thirty-four papers satisfied the review inclusion criteria; most were cross-sectional surveys. The majority of the studies were conducted in North America (n=25), with three being conducted in the UK. Sample sizes ranged from 61 to 98,340. The synthesised evidence demonstrates that social capital is an important construct for understanding the establishment of health risk behaviours in young people. The different elements of family and community social capital varied in terms of their saliency within each behavioural domain, with positive parent–child relations, parental monitoring, religiosity and school quality being particularly important in reducing risk.

Conclusions: This review is the first to systematically synthesise research findings about the association between social capital and health risk behaviours in young people. While providing evidence that may inform the development of interventions framed around social capital, the review also highlights key areas where further research is required to provide a fuller account of the nature and role of social capital in influencing the uptake of health risk behaviours.
</p&gt

Our case is a first report of autoimmune pancreatitis with multiple masses within the pancreas which was pathologically diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration and treated by steroid. The masses disappeared by steroid therapy. Our case is informative to know that autoimmune pancreatitis sometimes exhibits multiple masses within the pancreas and to diagnose it without unnecessary surgery

Validation of the Burden Index of Caregivers (BIC), a multidimensional short care burden scale from Japan

BACKGROUND: We constructed a concise multidimensional care burden scale that reflects circumstances unique to Japan, with a focus on intractable neurological diseases. We surveyed 646 family caregivers of patients with intractable neurological diseases or stroke using 28 preliminary care burden scale items obtained from qualitative research. The results were used to finalize the feeling of care burden scale (BIC: burden index of caregivers), and verify its reliability and validity. METHODS: The survey was conducted among caregivers providing home health care to patients with intractable neurological diseases (PD [Parkinson's disease], SCD [spinocerebellar degeneration], MSA [multiple system atrophy], and ALS [amyotrophic lateral sclerosis]) or CVA (cerebrovascular accident) using a mailed, self-administered questionnaire between November, 2003 and May, 2004. RESULTS: Response rates for neurological and CVA caregivers were 50% and 67%, respectively, or 646 in total (PD, 279; SCD, 78; MSA, 39; ALS, 30; and CVA, 220). Item and exploratory factor analyses led to a reduction to 11 items, comprising 10 items from the 5 domains of time-dependent burden, emotional burden, existential burden, physical burden, and service-related burden; and 1 item on total burden. Examination of validity showed a moderate correlation between each domain of the BIC and the SF-8 (Health related quality of life scale, Short Form-8), while the correlation coefficient of the overall BIC and CES-D was 0.62. Correlation between the BIC and ZBI, a preexisting care burden scale, was high (r = 0.84), while that with the time spent on providing care was 0.47. The ICC (Intraclass correlation coefficient) by test-retest reliability was 0.83, and 0.68 to 0.80 by individual domain. CONCLUSION: These results show that the BIC, a new care burden scale comprising 11 items, is highly reliable and valid
