Diffuse cosmic rays shining in the Galactic center: A novel interpretation of H.E.S.S. and Fermi-LAT gamma-ray data
We present a novel interpretation of the -ray diffuse emission
measured by Fermi-LAT and H.E.S.S. in the Galactic center (GC) region and the
Galactic ridge (GR). In the first part we perform a data-driven analysis based
on PASS8 Fermi-LAT data: we extend down to few GeV the spectra measured by
H.E.S.S. and infer the primary cosmic-ray (CR) radial distribution between 0.1
and 3 TeV. In the second part we adopt a CR transport model based on a
position-dependent diffusion coefficient. Such behavior reproduces the radial
dependence of the CR spectral index recently inferred from the Fermi-LAT
observations. We find that the bulk of the GR emission can be naturally
explained by the interaction of the diffuse steady-state Galactic CR sea with
the gas present in the Central Molecular Zone. Although our results leave room
for a residual radial-dependent emission associated with a central source, the
relevance of the large-scale background prevents from a solid evidence of a GC

Descending Into and Out of the Maelstrom: Soma and the Survival Struggle
The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study is to highlight the ways “surviving therapists” adapt to the inner-spaces in which they are still affected by their traumas. Surviving therapists are defined as therapists who identify as having experienced a trauma caused by another human being while maintaining an observational stance in relation to their body and self-experience. Therapists are not immune to the lasting effects of trauma: they may experience somatic reactivity and painful affective states in working with trauma patients. As surviving therapists have experienced events they may unconsciously choose to keep out of awareness, they may rely on adaptations in the face of regression, repression, and dissociation. A phenomenological method using a grounded theory approach was used to explore and document the ways surviving therapists utilize somatic sensations in their work. Edgar Allen Poe’s “A Descent into the Maelstrom” is used as a device to mirror participants’ processes of using metaphor to bridge the gap of symbolized and unsymbolized clinical experiences. Themes that arose from interview data included regulation style, regulation as cue, identity, metaphor of the journey, aggression/protection, and the sweet humor of life. Participants detailed the ways in which they used bodily sensations as cues to unconscious processes occurring interactively in the room or simply within and highlighted interventions based on these cues. Themes derived from this study can be used to generate strategies of training, supervision, and personal reflection to aid in the continued struggle for surviving therapists to survive

Hard Cosmic Ray Sea in the Galactic Center: a consistent interpretation of H.E.S.S. and Fermi-LAT -ray data
We present a novel interpretation of the gamma-ray diffuse emission measured
by H.E.S.S. in the Galactic Center (GC) region and the Galactic ridge. Our
starting base is an updated analysis of PASS8 Fermi-LAT data, which allows to
extend down to few GeV the spectra measured by H.E.S.S. and to infer the
primary CR radial distribution above 100 GeV. We compare those results with a
CR transport model assuming a harder scaling of the diffusion coefficient with
rigidity in the inner Galaxy. Such a behavior reproduces the radial dependence
of the CR spectral index recently inferred from Fermi-LAT measurements in the
inner GP. We find that, in this scenario, the bulk of the Galactic ridge
emission can be naturally explained by the interaction of the diffuse,
steady-state Galactic CR sea interacting with the gas present in the Central
molecular zone. The evidence of a GC PeVatron is significantly weaker than that

Effect of agro-climatic conditions on near infrared spectra of extra virgin olive oils
Authentication of extra virgin olive oil requires fast and cost-effective analytical procedures, such as near infrared spectroscopy. Multivariate analysis and chemometrics have been successfully applied in several papers to gather qualitative and quantitative information of extra virgin olive oils from near infrared spectra. Moreover, there are many examples in the literature analysing the effect of agro-climatic conditions on food content, in general, and in olive oil components, in particular. But the majority of these studies considered a factor, a non-numerical variable, containing this meteorological information. The present work uses all the agro-climatic data with the aim of highlighting the linear relationships between them and the near infrared spectra. The study begins with a graphical motivation, continues with a bivariate analysis and, finally, applies redundancy analysis to extend and confirm the previous conclusions.Peer Reviewe
Acceptability of yacon flakes (Smallanthus sonchifolia) for dietary use with inulin
"This study aimed to elaborate on yacon flakes and determine the proximal composition of
fresh yacon and final flakes, made at different temperatures (120°C, 150°C and 180°C) for
20 mins. We measured the acceptability of the sensory attributes: taste, texture, odour and
colour and the global acceptability at the laboratory level, using semi-trained panellists
and an unstructured hedonic scale. The acceptability of the flakes was measured at
different temperatures. Our results indicate that the flakes made at 180°C had the highest
acceptance (87%), and the flakes made at 120°C had 80% of unacceptability. Our data
were analysed according to the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's test. We found
significant differences between the averages of the taste scores (T0:7.1; T1:7.6; T2:6.7;
T3:4.6), p<0.05; texture (T0:7.1; T1:7.2; T2:5.7; T3:4.5), p<0.05; and odour (T0:7.2;
T1:7.6; T2:5.1; T3:3.3), p<0.05. The amount of fructooligosaccharides on a fresh basis
was Ⱦ±SD (31.60±0.650) and on a dry basis (37.44±1DS). Microbiological analysis
shows that the flakes are fit for human consumption. It is concluded that yacon flakes
contain significant amounts of inulin, being a good substitute alternative for the
preparation of snack-type dietetic products
Energy Infrastructure of the Factory as a Virtual Power Plant: Smart Energy Management
Smart energy factories are crucial for the development of upcoming energy markets in which emissions, energy use and network congestions are to be decreased. The virtual power plant (VPP) can be implemented in an industrial site with the aim of minimizing costs, emissions and total energy usage. A VPP considers the future situation forecasting and the situation of all energy assets, including renewable energy generation units and energy storage systems, to optimize the total cost of the plant, considering the possibility to trade with the energy market. For a VPP to be constructed, a proper communication system is essential. The energy management system (EMS) enables the monitoring, management and control of the different energy devices and permits the transference of the decisions made by the VPP to the different energy assets. VPP concept is explained together with the methods used for forecasting the future situation and the energy flow inside the facility. To reach its benefits, the optimization of the VPP is assessed. After that, the communication technologies that enable the VPP implementation are also introduced, and the advantages/disadvantages regarding their deployment are stated. With the tools introduced, the VPP can face the challenges of energy markets efficiently
