The domestic violence is more crucial issue in many societies nationally and globally. Women and children were highly victimized and more vulnerable by this domestic violence. Therefore, this study examines the key types of domestic violence experiencing in the research area, and to realize the response of police in preventing domestic violence in the Sammanthurai police area in Ampara district, Sri Lanka. Data for this research have gathered from primary and secondary sources. Even though the response of police has perpetually operated as a key measure in controlling domestic violence in the study area, the domestic violence is occurring continuously due to many social, cultural, economical and political aspects

Evaluation of Records of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Cases Reported at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Karachi Medical and Dental College, Pakistan

Background: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department is a diverse field in dentistry. Record maintenance has been established as one of the key factors in the success and integrity of health care institutes.Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate the records of oral and maxillofacial surgery casesreported to oral and maxillofacial surgery department, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and oral surgery OPD ofKarachi Medical and Dental College.Methods: Cross sectional study was conducted in at ASH and KMDC from July 2019 to September 2019.The data from January 2017 to July 2019 was retrospectively noted through electronic surgical recordof ASH and records of the Oral Surgery OPD of KMDC. Inclusion criteria was patients records of bothgenders of 5–70 years age, having complaint of any oral or dental pathology or pathologies, trauma andimpactions. Data was calculated manually by calculating frequencies and percentages for the trauma,impaction and pathology cases of patients.Results: In 2017, 239 cases were treated under general anesthesia from which trauma 11. 45% (n=11),followed by 48. 11% (n=115) cases of oral pathologies, total 11.7% (n=28) cases of complicated exodontias. In2018, among 211, 51.1% (n=108) cases were trauma followed by 39.3% (n=83) cases of oral pathologies,whereas, total 9.4% (n=20) complicated exodontias cases were observed. During 2019 (January to July),168 cases 36.2% (n=62) cases were diagnosed as trauma, in oral pathology, overall 36.2% (n=62) caseswere surgically excised. Total 23.2% (n=39) complicated exodontias. In 2017, 25122 cases were reported in Surgery OPD of Karachi Medical and Dental College. Total 36.2% (n=9097) teeth were extracted from which 1.93% (n=486) cases were surgical impaction. On the other hand, 1.65% (n=416) patients were treated through minor oral surgeries. In 2018, 29008 cases were reported in Surgery OPD. Total 42.7% (n=12377) teeth were extracted from which 0.92% (n=268) cases were surgical impaction. On the other hand, 0.71% (n=208) patients were treated through minor surgeries. In 2019, January till July 13028 cases were reported in Surgery OPD. Total42.6% (n=5559) teeth were extracted from which 0.66% (n=87) cases were surgical impaction. On the other hand, 0.68% (n=89) patients were treated through minor surgeries.Conclusion: It has been concluded that evaluation of the records of oral and maxillofacial surgery casesreported to oral and maxillofacial surgery department, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and oral surgery OPD ofKarachi Medical and Dental College were high and appropriate measures should be taken in order tomanage these problems timely and effectively

Hak dan kewajiban istri sebagai wanita karir di kantor Kecamatan Tanjungkerta Kabupaten Sumedang

Hak dan kewajiban suami istri bertujuan untuk membentuk keluarga yang sakinah, mawadah dan rahmah. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, istri berkewajiban taat dan patuh pada suami dan menyelenggarakan rumah tangga, suami berkewajiban memberi nafkah dengan cukup sesuai kemampuannya. Sebagaimana secara jelas diatur dalam Kompilasi Hukum Islam dan Undang-Udang Perkawinan tahun 1974. Perkembangan zaman yang membuka kesempatan kepada istri untuk ikut membantu mencari nafkah keluarga, yang membuat istri memiliki peran ganda dalam menjalankan hak dan kewajibannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui wanita karir di Kantor Kecamatan Tanjungkerta dalam memenuhi hak dan kewajiban sebagai istri, dampak profesi yang bekerja di Kantor Kecamatan Tanjungkerta terhadap hak dan kewajiban dan tinjauan hukum Islam tentang wanita karir di Kantor Kecamatan Tanjungkerta. Penelitian ini bertitik tolak dari Kompilasi Hukum Islam pasal 80 ayat 2 dan 4 mengenai wajibnya suami memberikan nafkah dan pasal 83 mengenai kewajiban istri untuk taat dan patuh kepada suami dan menyelenggarakan rumah tangga. Suami memiliki kewajiban memberikan nafkah dan kewajiban istri adalah mengurus seluruh urusan rumah tangga dan anak-anak. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif. Adapun Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara terhadap para responden dan studi pustaka dari berbagai literatur (buku-buku) yang berkaitan dengan penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pegawai wanita di Kantor Kecamatan Tanjungkerta adalah ibu-ibu yang memiliki suami dan mempunyai anak. Istri dapat menjalankan tanggung jawab mengenai hak dan kewajibannya dengan mengerjakan semuanya sebelum mereka berangkat bekerja ataupun sepulang bekerja, dan memanfaatkan waktu libur dan menjadikan Hp untuk sarana menjalin komunikasi dengan suami dan anak-anaknya. Dampak yang ditimbulkan terbagi menjadi dua dampak positif dan dampak negatif. Dampak positif yang ditemukan yaitu terpenuhinya kebutuhan ekonomi keluarga dan dapat mengembangkan ilmu pengertahuan yang dimiliki sang istri. Sedangkan dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan, waktu yang terlalu sedikit untuk keluarga dan komunikasi dengan anak yang merenggang karena waktu kerja yang menyita. Comparative outcome assessment of total hip arthroplasty versus bipolar hemiarthroplasty in intracapsular neck of femur fracture in old age

Background: This prospective study aimed to compare the outcomes of total hip replacement (THR) and bipolar hemiarthroplasty for the treatment of displaced femoral neck fractures in elderly patients. Methods: A total of 30 patients aged over 60 years with femoral neck fractures were included in the study, with 15 patients receiving a bipolar prosthesis and patients receiving THR between June 2021 and January 2023. The patients were followed up for 6 months postoperatively, with functional analysis conducted using the modified Harris hip score. Results: The results showed that the modified Harris hip score was significantly higher in the THR group compared to the bipolar prosthesis group at day 1, 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively. Pain levels were similar between the two groups at all follow-up intervals. Gait and range of motion were significantly higher in the THR group compared to the bipolar prosthesis group at all-time points. Conclusions: Based on the short-term functional outcomes of this study, THR appears to be a preferable option over bipolar prosthesis for managing femoral neck fractures in elderly
