    ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF WATERMELON EXTRACT (Citrullus lanatus) ON THE DECREASE OF URIC ACID LEVEL IN WHITE MALE RATS WISTAR (Rattus novergicus) Riri Eltadeza, Devi Usdiana Rosyidah Faculty Of Medicine, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta Backround : Citrullus lanatus is rich content of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, glycosides, tannins, and phenolic compounds. Flavonoid has an effect on decreasing uric acid levels by inhibiting the action of xanthine oxidase enzymes that can reduce uric acid levels of white rats. Objective: To determine the effect of watermelon extract on the decrease of uric acid level in white male rats wistar. Method: This research is a laboratory experimental research with pretest-post test method with control group design. It used 25 male white rats of wistar strain 2-3 months old with 150-250 gram weight with potassium oxonate induced and divided into 5 groups: negative control group (aquades), positive control (allopurinol 2,52 mg / 200gBB), treatment of extract 500 mg 200gBB, 1000 mg/200gBB, and 1500 mg/200gBB. Result: One Way Anova test 2 hours after treatment was obtained p = 0,049 and 4 hours after treatment was obtained p = 0.003 (p <0.05) this means that there was significant difference of uric acid level in each group after treatment. In the LSD test 2 hours after treatment the results were found to different significantly in groups K (-) - K (+) and K (+) - D1. LSD 4 hours after treatment showed different significantly results in groups K (-) - K (+), K (-) - D2, K (-) - D3, and K (+) – D1. Conclution : Watermelon Extract has an effect on decreasing uric acid levels in white male rats wistar. The most optimal effect of uric acid reduction is watermelon extract dose III 1500 mg/200gBB.     This study aims to determine the Vailidity of the Authentic Curriculum Based Curriculum 2013 in the eyes of the High School Physics subjects that are developed to support the level of implementation of Authentic School Assessment that includes attitude, knowledge, skills and authentic assessment. The type of research used is R & D (Research and Development). Development of Authentic assessment instruments includes preliminary studies, instrument planning, instrument development, instrument validation, and end products. The authentic assessment instrument developed in this research is a questionnaire that contains closed questions or open questions. From the results of the large index validation for attitude assessment 3.15, knowledge assessment 3.27, skill assessment 3.10, and authentic assessment step 3.4. Overall, the validation index of 3.21 categories is obtained. Thus it can be concluded that the authentic assessment instruments of high school students for physics subjects that have been developed are valid or fit to be used in analyzing the level of implementation of Authentic assessment of schools in applying attitude, knowledge, skills based on curriculum 2013

    The Effectiveness of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) Towards the Reading Comprehension of the First Grade Students of Sman 14 Pekanbaru

    This pre-experimental research aimed to find out the significant effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) towards the reading comprehension of the first grade students of SMAN 14 Pekanbaru. This study was one group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this study was grade X students of SMAN 14 Pekanbaru which consisted of 7 classes with the total of 259 students. The sample of this study was X.4 class with 37 students. The instrument of the research was a reading test with multiple choice type. The test consisted of six texts where each text contained eight questions with five options (A,B,C,D and E). The writer conducted a try out before the treatment was held. The level difficulty formula by Heaton was used in this study to obtain the reliability and validity of the test. Furthermore, the t-test formula was used in order to analyze the data. The T-Test displayed that the results determined by the probability of sig. > 0.05, probability=0.000, that showed a strong correlation between Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) and students' reading comprehension. t-obs result also showed that the students' mean score of the post-test (67.04) was higher than the pre-test ( 54.59). Besides, the results of the analysis showed that the t-test was higher than the t-table (12.45>2.028) at the level sig. of 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) n-1=36. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. Based on the data calculation, the results showed the significant effects of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) towards the reading comprehension of the first grade students

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya keterampilan anak dalam berbicara, hal ini terlihat dari kurangnya anak dalam mengungkapkan sesuatu, menjawab pertanyaan, mengulang kalimat sederhana maupun meneceritakan kembali cerita yang telah didengar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di TK Tunas Ceria Kecamatan Cileunyi, Kabupaten Bandung, dan dilaksanakan khususnya pada kelas A2 dengan jumlah partisipan sebanyak 8 orang. Permasalahan ini akan diselesaikan dengan menggunakan metode bercerita dengan buku pop-up, tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Untuk mengetahui proses meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara anak usia dini melalui metode bercerita menggunakan media pop-up book pada anak kelompok A TK Tunas Ceria. (2) Untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berbicara anak usia dini melalui metode bercerita menggunakan media pop-up book. Dalam pelaksanaannya, peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas dengan desain penelitian model Elliot. Selama penelitian berlangsung peneliti mengumpulkan data menggunakan instrumen penilaian performa, observasi dan dokumentasi. Di dalam instrumen penilaian performa peneliti menggunakan indikator ketercapaian untuk melihat ketercapaian perkembangan keterampilan berbicara anak. Hasil aktivitas kegiatan yang dinilai berdasarkan pedoman observasi menunjukan bahwa 87,5% anak yang mampu mencapai aktivitas 1 yakni menyimak dan merespon saat guru bercerita, 79,1% anak yang mampu mencapai aktivitas 2 yakni mengikuti kegiatan bercerita dengan antusias, 75% untuk anak yang mencapai aktivitas 3 yakni anak terlihat berani saat sedang bercerita. Hasil keterampilan berbicara anak pada indikator I presentase sebesar 87,5% anak yang mampu menjawab pertanyaan seputar cerita yang telah disampaikan. Indikator II mencapai presentase sebesar 79,1 artinya anak mampu mencertakan kembali dengan alur yang tepat dan artikulasi yang jelas. Indikator III mencapai 83,3% yakni anak mampu menceritakan kembali dengan menyebutkan keterangan (waktu dan tempat) serta menyebutkan tokoh yang tepat. Kesimpulannya bahwa keterampilan berbicara anak usia dini melalui metode bercerita menggunakan media pop-up book mengalami peningkatan

    AHSG Thr256Ser Gene Polymorphism as a Predictor of Low Serum Fetuin-A Levels in Indonesian Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients

    BACKGROUND: Vascular calcification (VC) is a risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. The effect of alpha2-Heremans Schmid glycoprotein (AHSG) Thr256Ser gene polymorphism toward serum fetuin-A levels as one of the VC inhibitors in MHD patients is still unclear. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the relationship between AHSG Thr256Ser gene polymorphism toward serum fetuin-A levels in MHD patients in Indonesia. METHODS: The research study design used was cross-sectional. Serum fetuin-A levels were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method, and polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism determined AHSG Thr256Ser gene polymorphism. Multivariate linear regression analysis was used to analyze the factors related to serum fetuin-A levels. p &lt; 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. RESULTS: Median value of serum fetuin-A levels was 235.0 pg/ml (ranging 78–756) with mean 259.99 ± 119.36 pg/ml. Out of 106 patients involved, the distribution of AHSG Thr256Ser genotype frequency was 54 (50.9%) respondents had CG genotype, 46.2% had CC genotype, and the others (2.8%) had GG genotype. Patients with homozygous C allele (CC genotype) were 0.1 times more protected (CI 95%: 0.1–0.3) to have low serum fetuin-A levels, compared with patients with G allele either in a homozygote (GG genotype) or in the heterozygote (CG genotype). From the multivariate analysis results, it can be obtained a formulation in predicting serum fetuin-A level, which is: Serum fetuin-A level prediction = 276,59 + 150,49 DM - 0,26 serum interleukin -6 level - 43,58 AHSG Thr256Ser gene polymorphism CONCLUSIONS: AHSG Thr256Ser gene polymorphism had a significant relationship with serum fetuin-A levels in MHD patients in Indonesia. Subjects with G allele (CG and GG genotypes) had lower serum fetuin-A levels than those with CC genotype

    Menurunkan Derajat Flebitis Akibat Terapi Intravena Pada Anak Dengan Kompres Aloe Vera: Studi Pilot

    Reducing the Grade of Phlebitis due to Intravenous Therapy in Children with Aloe Vera Compress. Intravenous therapy is a type of treatment that is widely provided to hospitalized children. Intravenous application in a long time causes complications in children, such as phlebitis. One of the interventions in handling phlebitis is compressing Aloe vera which is useful because it has electrolyte in low concentration so as not to cause extravasation. This study aims to identify the effect of Aloe vera on the degree of phlebitis in hospitalized children. This quasi-experimental study involved 15 children selected by consecutive sampling. All samples received a pure Aloe vera compress. The grade of phlebitis was measured using the INS phlebitis scale before and after the intervention. This study found that the mean degree of phlebitis before treatment was 2.60 with a minimum-maximum score 1–5, and after treatment, the average grade of phlebitis was 1.07 with a minimum-maximum score 0–3. Aloe vera effectively decreased the degree of phlebitis in children (p= 0.000). Further research needs to compare the effectiveness of Aloe vera compresses with other non-pharmacological measurements
