Automated Teller Machine (ATM)- A “Pathogen City” – A surveillance Report from Locations in and around Madurai City, Tamil Nadu, India
ATM is used by millions of people in a day. It is meant to be a public utility device.Hence the microorganism’s plays a major role in accommodating the safer place, ATM.Hence to this account an elaborate survey was taken for complete assessment of microbiology in and around Madurai city. Swabs were collected from each ATM screen, buttons, floor, user’s hand, exposure of plates and also extended the work in relation with microorganisms prevalent in ladies toilet the samples collected from ATM were plated in nutrient agar plates. The results showed the presence of increased bacterial count subsequently, most pathogens on characterization extended revealed the genus of the particular organism E-coli, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus aures, Klebsiella, Micrococcus, Salmonella, Serratia and fungal species included Aspergillus sp, Mucor sp and Fusarium. Antibiogram study of bacteria also provides us information about the antibiotic resistance pattern of the bacterial isolates.
PLANT PROFILE, PHYTOCHEMISTRY AND PHARMACOLOGY OF ARGEMONE MEXICANA LINN.A REVIEW
Argemonemexicanais extensively used as traditional medicine for the treatment of numerous diseases. Various parts of the plant were extensively used in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathic medicines. It is reported to have antimicrobial activity, wound healing property, larvicidal and chemosterilant activity, neÂmaticidal and allelopathic potential, antimalarial, antibacterial and antifungal, molluscicidal, anticancer, hepatoprotective, anti-HIV and neuropharmacological activity. Chemical investigations of this plant have revealed the presence of alkaloids, amino acids, phenolics and fatty acids. A. mexicana has shown promise as an effective bio-control agent. The present review includes the detailed exploration of traditional uses, phytochemical and pharmacological properties and actions of whole plant extract reported so far
PUBLICATION TRENDS IN GLOBAL OUTPUT OF RFID: A BIBLIOMETRIC PROFILE
The paper presents an analysis of 2735 global publications in RFID(Radio Frequency Identification), indexed in Web of science database during 2014-2018. The collected records were analyzed with the help of ‘Histcite tool’.The present study attempted to reveal the year, country and institution, formwise distribution, authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, relative growth rate and doubling time of publications. The findings of this showed that degree of Collaboration was high at 2017 (0.96).The relative growth rates (RGR) has increased and the doubling time (DT) has rapidly decreased while calculated year wise i.e.2014 to 2018
RESEARCH OUTPUT ON MYOPIA DURING THE PERIOD 2016-2018: A SCIENTOMETRIC ANALYSIS
The article covers 3092 publications on myopia research in global level from the period of 2016-2018.Web of science database has been used to retrieve the scientometric records for the study period. The trends within the most influential publications and authors were analyzed. The aim of this study was to analyze the year wise distribution of articles & citations, authorship pattern of articles, most productive countries and institutions and type of document published. From the analysis, it has been observed that in the year 2016, the highest number of 1085(35.1%) articles were published out of 3092 articles in three years. Multiple author contributions were more dominant with 2879(93.11%) articles. In geographical distribution articles, United States of America have contributed the highest number of 769 articles with 24.9%.The study discloses that the Degree of Collaboration was low at 2017 (0.91), regarding collaborators contribution. The study analyzes the Relative Growth Rate (RGR) has increased from 2016 to 2018 in the span of three years. Doubling time (DT) has rapidly decreased when calculated year wise, i.e.2016 to 2018
The role of cardiotocography in predicting perinatal outcomes in women presenting with reduced perception of fetal movements at term: an observational study
Background: Reduced perception of fetal movement by mother is a common reason for self referral for assessment by healthcare providers affecting 5-15% of pregnancy. It allows early identification of fetuses at risk of adverse outcome. Non stress test (NST) or Cardiotocography (CTG) is the most commonly used test for antepartum and intrapartum fetal surveillance. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the role of NST/CTG in predicting perinatal outcomes in women presenting with reduced perception of fetal movements.
Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted on 110 term pregnant women presenting with reduced perception of fetal movements. NST/CTG was done as a preliminary test in them and the results were analyzed statistically.
Results: Total 60% women had reactive CTG, 17.3% had suspicious CTG and 22.7% had pathological CTG at the time of presentation. Out of 66 women who had reactive NST, 34 women were discharged after observation for 24 hours to follow up. About 58.15% women had one or more risk factors associated with pregnancy in our study. Pathological/ suspicious CTG was more commonly associated with adverse perinatal outcomes like presence of MSAF, low APGAR score at 1 minute and 5 minutes, neonatal distress, need for neonatal resuscitation and NICU admission with statistical significance. However, all babies had good outcome in our study.
Conclusions: Early approach, timely intervention could reduce associated complications and improve perinatal outcome in all these cases.
