Anodic oxidation of formaldehyde on the copper surface in alkaline solutions of aminotris(hydroxymethyl)methane and EDTA

It was established by cyclic voltammetry and electroreflection modulation spectroscopy that the copper surface in strong alkaline media (pH 12.6) at potentials of -0.4 to -0.5 V is covered with a copper(I) oxide film, which keeps existing in the presence of formaldehyde. Aminotris(hydroxymethl)methane (TRIS) makes the oxide film thinner and is directly involved in the elementary act of copper ionization to give complexes 1:1

The effect of tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane on the stability of chemical copper-plating solutions and process rate

Novel additive is suggested in ethylendiamintetraacetate solution for chemical copper plating. The additive enables to raise a copper deposition rate more than twice and to improve a solution stability. The reaction orders for the main solution components of copper plating. Effective activation energy and constant of process rate are estimated. Empiric equation is obtained which allows to define the process rate depending upon component concentration and temperature

Modern approach to inventory of urban green spaces using GIS-technologies (in terms of the city of Rostov-on-Don)

As a result of the survey, a geospatial database was generated - a digital twin of Rostov-on-Don green structure facilities. The work was performed with the use of advanced knowledge-intensive technologies by means of unmanned aircrafts, mobile laser scanning, automation of data recording and transmission. The obtained results allow for estimation of quantitative and qualitative condition of landscaping and greening of the areas of separate districts and the city in broader terms for the given period, and they are the basis for prospective planning both of operating expenses for spaces maintenance and expenditures for new construction and repair of facilities. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

Comprehensive characterization of molecular interactions based on nanomechanics

Molecular interaction is a key concept in our understanding of the biological mechanisms of life. Two physical properties change when one molecular partner binds to another. Firstly, the masses combine and secondly, the structure of at least one binding partner is altered, mechanically transducing the binding into subsequent biological reactions. Here we present a nanomechanical micro-array technique for bio-medical research, which not only monitors the binding of effector molecules to their target but also the subsequent effect on a biological system in vitro. This label-free and real-time method directly and simultaneously tracks mass and nanomechanical changes at the sensor interface using micro-cantilever technology. To prove the concept we measured lipid vesicle (approximately 748*10(6) Da) adsorption on the sensor interface followed by subsequent binding of the bee venom peptide melittin (2840 Da) to the vesicles. The results show the high dynamic range of the instrument and that measuring the mass and structural changes simultaneously allow a comprehensive discussion of molecular interactions

Anemia of chronic diseases in patients with dilated and ischemic cardiomyopathy

Aim. To estimate the effect of anemia of chronic diseases on the processes of cardiovascular system remodeling in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and ischemic cardiomyopathy. Methods. The study included 27 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy with anemia, 19 with dilated cardiomyopathy without anemia, 11 with ischemic cardiomyopathy with anemia, 34 with ischemic cardiomyopathy without anemia, and 30 healthy individuals. In these comparison groups, peripheral blood, mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean cell hemoglobin concentration, reticulocytes, serum iron and ferritin were examined. Electrocardiography, echocardiography, scintigraphy and coronary angiography were performed. Results. In all groups identical signs of chronic heart failure class 3 and 4 were found to be predominant, which was confirmed by a significant decrease of blood pressure, stroke volume, ejection fraction, increase of end systolic and diastolic volumes and sizes, as well as left and right atrial size. Patients with dilated and ischemic cardiomyopathy with anemia had decreased hemoglobin, number of erythrocytes and platelets, positive correlation between hemoglobin and serum iron (r=0.49, p=0.000), red blood cells and ferritin (r=0.61, p=0.000), negative correlation between hemoglobin and ferritin (r=-0.51, p=0.02). In ischemic cardiomyopathy with anemia positive correlation was found between hemoglobin and serum iron (r=0.54, p=0.000), erythrocytes and ferritin (r=0.49, p=0.03), negative correlation - between hemoglobin and ferritin (r=0.54, p=0.03). Conclusion. In patients with dilated and ischemic cardiomyopathy no significant effect of anemia of chronic diseases on heart remodeling processes was revealed

Hemocoagulation Activity of Sulfur-Containing Pinane-Type Terpenoids

Their hemocoagulation activity in vitro on human blood plasma was studied. All tested compounds exhibited antiaggregation and anticoagulation activity. The most water-soluble sulfoxide with a mercaptoacetic acid moiety inhibited spontaneous platelet aggregation and that induced by collagen and arachidonic acid and also reduced the coagulation activity of human blood plasma. The hemocoagulation activity was due to selective inhibition of platelet receptors, decreased yield of thrombocytic microvesicles, and suppression of their activity

Overexpression of Calretinin Enhances Short-Term Synaptic Depression

Analysis of the effects of various proteins on short-term synaptic plasticity is a difficult task, which may require the use of knockout animals. Here, we propose an alternative experimental approach for studying the roles of desired proteins in synaptic plasticity. We packed the Ca2+-binding protein calretinin and the fluorescent protein Venus into AAV and injected the concentrated viral suspension into the neocortex of newborn rats. The infected layer 2/3 pyramidal cells were identified in rat cortical slices using Venus fluorescence. Analysis of short-term synaptic plasticity using paired patch clamp recordings between layer 2/3 pyramidal cells (presynaptic cell) and fast-spiking (FS) interneurons (post-synaptic cell) showed that calretinin expression in the pyramidal cells did not change the failure rate in this synapse but did decrease synaptic delay. Analysis of the parameters of short-term synaptic plasticity showed that the amplitude of the first EPSP in the train was not affected by calretinin, however, calretinin strongly enhanced short-term depression. In addition, we found that the effect of calretinin depended on the presynaptic firing frequency: an increase in frequency resulted in enhancement of synaptic depression

Somatic and psychological risk factors (RF) were studied in 835 patients with arterial hypertension (AH) and ischemic heart disease (IHD) who had been admitted to the Borderline Department of MHRI SB RAMS for severity of neurotic and affective disorders provoked by previous psychosomatic events (psychosocial stress). Earlier the patients had been under control of cardiologists and therapists in general medical institutions. Systemic analysis of interrelation between somatic, psychic, and psychosocial factors defining the mechanisms of psychosomatic correlation formation in the patients with CVD with depressive disorders was applied.На клиническом материале, включающем 835 пациентов с артериальной гипертонией и ишемической болезнью сердца, госпитализированных в отделение пограничных состояний НИИПЗ СО РАМН в связи с выраженностью невротических и аффективных расстройств, обусловленных предшествующими психотравмирующими событиями (психосоциальным стрессом), изучены соматические и психосоциальные факторы риска. Ранее пациенты наблюдались в общемедицинских учреждениях у кардиолога или терапевта. В исследовании применен системный анализ взаимосвязи соматических, психических, психосоциальных факторов, определяющий механизмы формирования психосоматических соотношений у больных сердечно-сосудистыми заболеваниями с тревожными и депрессивными расстройствами для оценки кардиоваскулярного риска и выбора стратегии вторичной профилактики в общемедицинской практике

Оценка клинической эквивалентности Беклазона Эко Легкое Дыхание и ДАИ флутиказона пропионата у больных бронхиальной астмой

It is well known that efficacy of asthma treatment depends on a choice of a basic medication as well as on a delivery system. The aim of this study was a comparison of clinical efficacy of equal doses of beclomethasone dipropionate (Beclasone Eco Easi Breathe) and fluticasone propionate (Flixotide) via MDI. The study was designed as a randomized open prospective comparative trial. Findings of 26 patients with moderate and severe asthma of > 18 yrs old were analyzed, such as medical history, physical findings, spirometric and bronchodilating test results, heart beat rate and blood pressure, quality of life (QoL) using Russian version of AQLQ questionnaire. After the run-in period the patients randomly received Beclasone Eco Easi Breathe 500 to 1000 μg daily or Flixotide at the same doses for 4 weeks followed the cross-over change of the drugs for the next 4 weeks. After 1 month of the treatment, significant improvements in airflow parameters, need in short-acting β2 -agonists and QoL have been reported. After changing the drugs these effects have been maintained with no further reliable improvement. Thus, the study demonstrated similar efficacy and safety of these inhaled steroids that could be considered as being clinically equal in treatment of moderate and severe asthma.Известно, что эффективность лечения бронхиальной астмы (БА) зависит не только от выбора базисной терапии, но и от способа доставки лекарственного средства. Целью данного исследования было сравнение клинической эффективности равных доз беклометазона дипропионата (Беклазона Эко в системе доставки Легкое Дыхание) и флутиказона пропионата в виде ДАИ (Фликсотид). Исследование было рандомизированным, перекрестным, открытым, проспективным, сравнительным. Анализировали данные 26 больных со среднетяжелой и тяжелой БА в возрасте >18 лет: данные анамнеза и врачебного осмотра, спирометрии с бронходилатационным тестом, пульса и АД, качества жизни (КЖ), которое оценивали с помощью русской версии опросника AQLQ. После вводного периода больные рандомизированно получали в течение 4 нед. либо Беклазон Эко Легкое Дыхание 500-1000 мкг/сут., либо Фликсотид в тех же дозах с последующей сменой препаратов еще на 4 нед. Через 1 мес. лечения в обеих группах произошло достоверное улучшение показателей бронхиальной проходимости, снижение потребности в бронхолитиках короткого действия и улучшение КЖ. После смены препаратов этот эффект был сохранен без дальнейшего существенного прироста. Таким образом, исследование показало равную клиническую эффективность и безопасность этих двух форм ингаляционных глюкокортикостероидов, что позволяет считать их клинически эквивалентными при среднетяжелой и тяжелой БА
