DALES: Automated Tool for Detection, Annotation, Labelling and Segmentation of Multiple Objects in Multi-Camera Video Streams
In this paper, we propose a new software tool called DALES to extract semantic information
from multi-view videos based on the analysis of their visual content. Our system is fully automatic
and is well suited for multi-camera environment. Once the multi-view video sequences are
loaded into DALES, our software performs the detection, counting, and segmentation of the visual
objects evolving in the provided video streams. Then, these objects of interest are processed
in order to be labelled, and the related frames are thus annotated with the corresponding semantic
content. Moreover, a textual script is automatically generated with the video annotations.
DALES system shows excellent performance in terms of accuracy and computational speed and
is robustly designed to ensure view synchronization

Production and purification of L-lactic acid in lab and pilot scales using sweet sorghum juice
Sweet sorghum juice (SSJ) was evaluated as fermentation substrate for the production of l-lactic acid. A thermophilic Bacillus coagulans isolate was selected for batch fermentations without the use of additional nutrients. The first batch of SSJ (Batch A) resulted on higher lactic acid concentration, yield and productivity with values of 78.75 g·L−1, 0.78 g·g−1 and 1.77 g·L−1 h−1, respectively. Similar results were obtained when the process was transferred into the pilot scale (50 L), with corresponding values of 73 g·L−1, 0.70 g·g−1 and 1.47 g·L−1 h−1. A complete downstream process scheme was developed in order to separate lactic acid from the fermentation components. Coarse and ultra-filtration were employed as preliminary separation steps. Mono- and bipolar electrodialysis, followed by chromatography and vacuum evaporation were subsequently carried out leading to a solution containing 905.8 g·L−1 lactic acid, with an optical purity of 98.9%. The results of this study highlight the importance of the downstream process with respect to using SSJ for lactic acid production. The proposed downstream process constitutes a more environmentally benign approach to conventional precipitation methods
WnioskiKażda z omówionych metod posiada pewne plusy i minusy, predystynujące ją do zastosowania w różnych sytuacjach klinicznych. Optymalizacja polega na minimalizacji ryzyka powikłan wynikających z metody
Optimization of dose distributions in intraoperative HDR brachytherapy
The authors present their initial experience in physical aspects of treatment planning in HDR intraoperative brachytherapy. The examples are given of implantations in various tumour localizations: head and neck, pancreas, soft tissue sarcomas in the abdomen. The technical and dosimetric problems which may occur in such situations are discussed. The capabilities of dose distribution optimization by the Abacus HDR treatment planning system are presented
