Investigaciones actuales en ligandos de receptores opiĂĄceos
Relevant developments have been achieved in the last twenty years in the search for
opioid agonists and antagonists with selectivity for each receptor subpopulation. Recently,
new benzomorphan derivatives have been synthesized and compounds with substituted
cyclopropylmethyl functionalities at N-l position showed high affinity and selectivity for
K opioid receptor subpopulations. MPCB and CCB were selected as specific K agonists.
The affinity ofCCB was two-fold the USO,488H one. Mixed peptide-heterocyclic compounds
have been derived from these compounds and important informations on binding processes
of K ligands have been obtained.

Barriers to Infectious Disease Care among Lesbians1
Despite the considerable number of women in the United States who identify as lesbian, few data exist that address lesbians' health needs. The Institute of Medicine emphasized that data on sexually transmitted infections, Pap smear screening, and cervical dysplasia among lesbians were needed to guide clinical practice, policy development, and patient education. Use of surveillance data for this purpose is limited because risk classifications exclude same-gender sex among women or subsume it under behavior considered as higher risk. However, sexual transmission of human papillomavirus, HIV, Treponema pallidum, and Trichomonas vaginalis between women has been reported. Data indicate that lesbians receive routine Pap smear screening less frequently than is optimal. Moreover, lesbians commonly report previous pregnancy, induced abortion, and hormonal contraceptive use. Education of lesbians and their care providers should counter assumptions that sex between women confers no risk for transmission of sexually transmitted infections, and lesbians should receive Pap smears according to current guidelines
This work is part of an investigation into the contemporary dynamics of development and modernization in the southern and far southern coastal areas of Chile, specifically the shoreline of the northern part of the Aysen Region. The objective is to propose a theoretical-conceptual reflection to enable ethnographic data to be framed as a problem and interpreted as a function of a political reading which - why not say so? - could transform the world of the southern and far southern coastal zone. The central argument of the text is hypothetical: the dilemmas of development, in the current circumstances of the coasts of the Aysen Region, are susceptible of resolution (at least up to a point) from a conscious, reflexive change of perspective on culture as the word is understood in anthropology.
