Personality Disorder in Childhood and Adolescence comes of Age: a Review of the Current Evidence and Prospects for Future Research
In this article, the authors provide a narrative review of the mounting evidence base on personality disorder in childhood and adolescence. Topics covered include diagnostic validity, prevalence, developmental issues, comorbidity, risk and protective factors, and treatment. Novel indicated prevention and early intervention programs for borderline personality disorder in adolescence are given special priority. To conclude, directions for future research are provided
Hypermentalizing, Attachment, and Epistemic Trust in Adolescent BPD: Clinical Illustrations.
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) has been shown to be a valid and reliable diagnosis in adolescents and associated with a decrease in both general and social functioning. With evidence linking BPD in adolescents to poor prognosis, it is important to develop a better understanding of factors and mechanisms contributing to the development of BPD. This could potentially enhance our knowledge and facilitate the design of novel treatment programs and interventions for this group. In this paper, we outline a theoretical model of BPD in adolescents linking the original mentalization-based theory of BPD, with recent extensions of the theory that focuses on hypermentalizing and epistemic trust. We then provide clinical case vignettes to illustrate this extended theoretical model of BPD. Furthermore, we suggest a treatment approach to BPD in adolescents that focuses on the reduction of hypermentalizing and epistemic mistrust. We conclude with an integration of theory and practice in the final section of the paper and make recommendations for future work in this area. (PsycINFO Database Recor
What works for adolescents with borderline personality disorder: Towards a developmentally informed understanding and structured treatment model
The efficacy of treatment of borderline personality disorder in adolescents is an underresearched area. Although increasing research in borderline personality disorder in adolescents has emerged over the last decade there is a paucity of knowledge about how treatment is adequately designed for this group of patients. As a consequence, it is currently difficult to provide evidence-based guidelines and firm recommendations for how to design and implement borderline treatment in adolescence. In this selective review we summarize the most important research findings concerning treatment for adolescents with borderline personality disorder, including a recent mentalisation-based group treatment program. We highlight pivotal developmental obstacles for psychotherapy in adolescence and integrate these into a framework for the understanding and designing of effective treatment of borderline in adolescence

Milk and dairy products: good or bad for human health? An assessment of the totality of scientific evidence
Background: There is scepticism about health effects of dairy products in the public, which is reflected in an increasing intake of plant-based drinks, for example, from soy, rice, almond, or oat.
Objective: This review aimed to assess the scientific evidence mainly from meta-analyses of observational studies and randomised controlled trials, on dairy intake and risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, cancer, and all-cause mortality.
Results: The most recent evidence suggested that intake of milk and dairy products was associated with reduced risk of childhood obesity. In adults, intake of dairy products was shown to improve body composition and facilitate weight loss during energy restriction. In addition, intake of milk and dairy products was associated with a neutral or reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, particularly stroke. Furthermore, the evidence suggested a beneficial effect of milk and dairy intake on bone mineral density but no association with risk of bone fracture. Among cancers, milk and dairy intake was inversely associated with colorectal cancer, bladder cancer, gastric cancer, and breast cancer, and not associated with risk of pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, or lung cancer,while the evidence for prostate cancer risk was inconsistent.Finally,consumption of milk and dairy products was not associated with all-cause mortality. Calcium-fortified plant-based drinks have been included as an alternative to dairy products in the nutrition recommendations in several countries. However, nutritionally, cow’s milk and plant-based drinks are completely different foods,and an evidence-based conclusion on the health value of the plant-based drinks requires more studies in humans.
Conclusion: The totality of available scientific evidence supports that intake of milk and dairy products contribute to meet nutrient recommendations, and may protect against the most prevalent chronic diseases, whereas very few adverse effects have been reported

The role of interpersonal coordination dynamics in alliance rupture and repair processes in psychotherapy - A systematic review
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this systematic review is to expand our knowledge of the underlying mechanisms of the alliance in psychotherapy. This is done by examining the association between alliance rupture and repair processes and interpersonal coordination dynamics.METHOD: A systematic review based on PRISMA guidelines was conducted, aimed at papers investigating the association between alliance rupture and repair episodes and different behavioral modalities (i.e., physiology, movement) in the psychotherapeutic interaction. Seventeen studies were included for full text-analysis.RESULTS: The results indicate that rupture and repair episodes were associated with interpersonal coordination dynamics. Different modalities (movement, heart rate, and vocalization) were found to serve as markers for alliance rupture and repair events. Facial expressions, physiological arousal, vocalization, and behavior were found to play important roles in the therapeutic interaction in relation to mutual emotion regulation, empathic response, safety, trust, and meaning-making.DISCUSSION: Limitations of this review are discussed, including the great methodological variation and selection bias observed in the reviewed studies. Recommendations for future research in this area are presented. Overall, interpersonal coordination dynamics was found to have the potential to help identify and manage alliance ruptures and foster repairs in the therapeutic interaction, which has high potential for future clinical work and training.</p
